Personal Trainer, Alex Gois, at Beverlys Sterling Center recommended I try Jacobs Ladder. So glad he did. I can feel a difference. Its one of many positive suggestions Alex makes to my physical regime.

The Greater Beverly YMCA is fantastic and has exceeded my expectations. I joined in January on a whim and have been going consistently since. From the pool, the spin classes, the personal trainers to the workout floor/equipment - I like that it is clean, relatively new, and comes at a great price for what they offer.

The Beverly YMCA is the most unethical organization I have ever been apart of. My 13 month old son came out of the Kids Zone with a deep nail scratch, and later developed bruises on his face. STAY AWAY from this location at all cost!

I bring my son to this YMCA for his swimming class. Jerry is a great teacher and my son got connected after first class. Water is warm too. I’m glad we came here even is I have to drive for 20 min. It is all worth it.

I really like the renovated space. Best perk is being able to drop my kids off in the kids club so I can exercise, without that I wouldn’t be to get to a gym to work out.

I liked the renovated YMCA. The open exercise floor is nice, spacious and well ventilated. The air in the pool area was a too hot though. Also there is virtually no way for spectators to make videos during long course swim meets - a drawback for swimmers working on technique improvements. You are not allowed to make videos in the spectator area, because it is behind the starting blocks. So this area is off-limits for photos and videos according to USA swimming regulations. You cannot make videos from the windows on the the first floor - the pool view is naturally blocked by meet officials, coaches, and swimmers. I tried to make a video from one of the second floor side windows (it had a good view of the whole pool), but I was told that I was not allowed to stay in this area - no explanation given. Disappointing...

I have a family membership and two children enrolled in classes and I feel I have wasted my money. Ill start with preschool swimming. My daughter has had 5 different teachers in 6 months. Some days we dont know who the teacher is because they dont even introduce themselves. There are 6 preschoolers and one teacher so these children hold on to the side more than half the time they are there. Also almost every week there is no place to sit because the bleachers are full of the swim teams bags. Now for gymnastics when I first signed up anyone could do open gym as long as they paid, they changed the rules to members only so my niece I care for can no longer join and has to sit and watch my children. Then they changed the rules again at open gymnastics apparently its 7 and up on Sunday mornings at 10, who knew it is always full of little kids and I dont mind rule change I know its for safety but no notice just turning people away who came just for open gymnastics! An email or some notice would be nice instead of the staff rudely turning these children away. There were a lot of tears and a lot of upset parents! When someone complains at the front desk its usually a young person who has no customer sevice abilities. Every week I come, and I come multiple times a week, something upsets me whether it the rude staff or a new rule change. I have never complained to anyone yet but I feel now is the time. I feel the Y caters to their teams and could care less about their other customers. Every week at classes the parents sit around and complain. I cant wait until June when these classes are over!

One of the Kid’s Club workers is just awful. My son needs a couple extra seconds to adjust to new surroundings. He has a fun time at Kid’s Club if he’s allowed to enter at his own pace but, the awful lady will just snatch your kid up, whether they like it or not, and shove them in the play space. It’s not like we’re holding up a line or anything. There’s really no reason for this behavior. So, now I never get to complete a workout because my son is so upset at Kid’s Club. I never have this problem at the Salem or Ipswich locations.2/23/18 update:The same Kid’s Club worker grabbed my child again! While another sweet, patient employee was trying to coax my shy toddler into the baby sitting room, this woman just walked right up and snatched him. She did not ask for consent to pick up my child or even look at me. Unbelievable! She placed him behind a barrier while he sobbed. Then the most disturbing part happened: I ask for my child back immediately and she replied “No. he’s fine!” When someone asks for their child back, you give them their child back. No ifs, ands, or buts. They should never have to ask twice. The entire purpose of my membership was to socialize my toddler and get him used to being cared for by other people. Kid’s Club has ruined that for us. I can’t trust them with my child now.

Its great being able to swim here but I fear they have a poor sense of what should be done with an enviromental health violation has occurred. The staff shouldnt have to be told repeatedly that something has happened in the womans shower area (that could effect all of our health here) to finally have something done with the area. If they cant fix the problem fast, then at least there should be signs on the doors to inform people not to go in. The doors should even be locked to the area to avoid any one going inside until the problem is resolved. By Just keep saying Im just following procedures, is a poor excuse to at least do that much.

I have been a regular user of the Sterling YMCA for the last 10 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. The front desk is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, the website is always up to date, and they’ve even recently renovated to drastically improve the cardio and weight areas. My fiancé has been enjoying the variety of exercise classes and says that scheduling is as easy as possible! If you live in the greater Beverly area, the YMCA is where you should go to live a healthy lifestyle!

I went there for the first time this evening (I typically go to Lynch V Oterloo). My kid wanted to shoot hoops...website and schedule says open gym..we show up and the gym is full of kids for a drop-in night. The only guy working desk was on phone (appeared to be personal call) and was put out that he had to put his buddy on hold to answer my question regarding why the schedule was wrong...he had no answer other than to call before we come..what a mess...I cant even believe this is part of the ymca system...

Ive had the YMCA camps for my kids for years whike I work throughout the summer. TheyrTh finally at the age where they can be home without constant suoervision, so thankfully I no longer have to shell out to this money pit. For 2 kids, full day summer care cost me over $460/week. I make too much to qualify for assistance, however after paying for camp, was left with not even enough money to pay for rent/car/ food/etc. Unfortunately, the YMCA allows low income families to put thier kids in camp for free. Imagine paying extra to drop your kids off at 830am so you can get to work on time, and watching moms still in pajamas dropping off thier kids, then rushing to pick them up at 430 and seeing these same moms, fresh from the beach and gabbing about thier peaceful day picking up thier kids. The YMCA doesnt care about working families. They cater to the low income offering free camp and bussing, which in turn raises the prices for everyone else. The worst part... I paid an EXTRA $250 to send my son to Adventure Camp for a couple of weeks instead of Sterling woods, and they did nothing the whole time! They stayed in the gym and played basketball, while the teenage counselor played on his phone the whole time. Many of the counselors are irresponsible, immature, and ignorant to the needs of children. This program needs an overhaul. Also, the office frequently messes up the auto payments. My account was over drafted 3 times last year. My request for reimbireimbur for fees was ignored. They need to change thier Y for all motto, as it is certainly a misstatement.

Bring my kids here for swim lessons. Ages 5 and 2. One with high functioning autism, still autistic nonetheless. The swim instructor is great, the life guards are absolutely miserable. They are rude and mean to the kids. If you dont have to bring your kids here for swim DONT. NOT KID FRIENDLY

I hadnt been to this ymca in about 10 years, but my wife wanted us to join a gym as a new years resolution. I have to say, I couldnt believe my eyes when I got there. The pool is huge!!!!it must be tripple the size it was when I was a kid. I talked the someone at the front desk and he seemed proud to talk about the direction this YMCA has been going over the years. I forget his name, but he was very helpful and answered all my question about when the pool and courts are open to the public.Im not super tech savy, but he showed me how to find schedules and other things online if I ever am ever curious about hours. As someone with phonaphobia I was wicked happy the ymca had a comprehensive site.Ill post another review after a few visits, but first impression have me colored impressed
