This part of historic Bethlehem is one of my favorites. Its a beautiful area great for pictures and exploring. The paths are beautiful, well paved and open, good for running and dog walking. There many nice shops, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Wonderful area!

There are historic places to visit. Theres a great path to walk along the creek. You can bring your dog. Some of the historic buildings are open and have people there for demonstrations.

We came down to visit and see the Celtic classic, it took place around here and it also expanded into this area. It was amazing to see the town come together for such a big and beautiful event. The venders, people talking about their heritage, and the games were amazing to see. This is definitely a place to visit but if you can go during the festival I would.

Signed up for a guided walking tour at the visitors center. Talks about Bethlehems industrial past were full of pride, including the ahead of its time water pumping system and self sustaining community by Moravians. Tour included inside look inside the reconstructed water wheel, and recommended blacksmithing house.

Loved the colonial era buildings and the restoration theyre doing. There are some information boards offering tidbits about the buildings and their significance during the towns heyday. But all of them are locked so you cant see whats inside. The walk paths are well marked and the views are pretty amazing. There should at least be one museum here that presents the history of the town. I hope theyre working on it. Half an hour is more than enough to walk the entire area.

I live adjacent to the mill and tannery buildings and spend a lot of my outdoors time walking along the Monocacy Creek, which threads its way south to the Lehigh River. There are two options for an enjoyable visit to the quarter. The first is to pick up a guide at the visitors’ center a few doors away from the hotel. The second, and far easier, is to walk down the path from the valet lot of the hotel until you’re standing in front of the mill.If you turn and walk south from the mill toward the concrete ramp bringing traffic into town, you’ll see the tannery on the right and, a few hundred yards farther, the waterworks. Beyond the waterworks is a recently-completed (2017) pedestrian bridge leading to a parking lot and the festival grounds.Heading north from the mill along the creek offers a pleasant stroll with new benches along the creek. Farther upstream, careful observers may see the remnants of a dam which drove water to the mill.If the mill is open for a public event (art shows happen frequently), step in. If admission is required, you’ll see a handsome model of the mill showing how it was powered and what it ground.

There are no huge museums or attractions here (other than Musikfest every summer) - but there are enough small museums, good views around the Lehigh River, and good places for food, drink, and music, that it is worth making a special trip to the historic part of Bethlehem. Im from Philly, about an hour away, so Im not cheerleading for my home town or anything. If you go, consider parking in the Walnut Street Garage. Its close to everything, and it was only $1 an hour when I was there. To someone from a big city, thats basically free parking!
