With strong wind and currents in the bay, if you learn sailing in OCSC, you can almost sail anywhere.

Best sailing school in the Bay Area! Their motto, “inspire confidence“ says it all. The program has been put together with years of experience designed to make you feel safe with your crew on the Bay. The instructors are bottomless pool of experience and information about sailing. Best of all they make it fun as well as challenging

Incredible instructors. Inspire Confidence is the motto and they do a very good job of achieving such a task. This is the place to go if you really want to sail. The location is ideal as well. Myself and my friends have been very pleased with the service and instruction we have experienced. The fleet could use a bit of freshening up sometimes but the newer additions are very nice. Make sure to bring the right attitude to your course because they care more about making you into a good sailor than making you feel warm and fuzzy inside! Just as it should be when you are trying to learn to sail safely in the San Francisco Bay.

Mitchell was a great instructor for the beginner class. I was a bit nervous about sailing for the first time but once we got on the water it was great! I look forward to becoming a skipper at OCSC someday! Great views of SF and the Golden Gate.

Good boats. Outstanding instruction. Easy to split costs with club members to keep chartering costs reasonable.

I took a sailing course at OCSC and really had a great time. I learned to much about sailing. The teachers obviously love the sport and are very patient with their students. When you go out on the bay you have one teacher and only one to two other students in the boat with you. It is really hands on and a great place to take a class. It was well worth it. I really enjoyed all my classes and hands on experience. Thank you!

Didnt know what to expect of the U.S. Sailing curriculum before working here as I was already a licensed captain and professional sailor, but its really great practical standards for real sailors and not just some gimmick. The instructors have great backgrounds and teach a huge variety of material and the club has some of the best wind in the area by being directly in the path of the golden gate and not hiding out in the corner. True sailors can appreciate that. An amazing place to learn sailing.

I had been sailing dinghies for a while so I naturally wanted to go to bigger boats when I moved to the US. I did my research about schools in the bay and quickly learned that the “toughest school” was OCSC. It seemed like the right choice (since sailing is a dangerous sport).I certified BBC (Bareboat Cruising) in 8 months. The instructor taught me so much and I feel very confident that these learnings will be instrumental in my safety onboard (and the safety of friends and family members).I’ve sailed with the club every weekend during that time and I’ve met incredible people, both teachers and students. The people there are simply amazing. The community makes it even better. The school is slightly more expensive than the rest but it’s definitely worth it! I’d highly recommend OCSC to anyone looking for a serious sailing school.

I decided to take my office to OSCA for a team bonding event. Wow! Most people on my team had never been sailing and I was a little nervous myself l but the OSCA team was so professional and our instructor was great! I would definitely recommend checking them out, I’m thinking about signing up for their classes now.

The absolute, best and most effective, top of the line sailing School anywhere. Considering the playgrounds available, SF Bay is no place to goof arround when it comes to sailing and safety, this is THE best and most competent place anywhere on the Bay to become CONFIDENT and PROFICIENT as a Sailor. Bill Gargan USCG 100 Ton Master, with Sailing Endorsement. I chose this place to refine my sailing skills after looking at every other sailing school in the area..

I may be somewhat biased, having, I believe the oldest (or 2nd oldest) active member number at the club. I joined in 1988 after several years of very serious sailboat racing (J/24, Tartan 10, PHRF including Folkboats; Moore 24, Santana 35, etc.) on SF bay. I wanted to be able to charter boats and take my non-sailing friends out to experience the beauty of the Bay. OCSC fulfilled their every promise - I learned to skipper small and large (36) boats, got my Bareboat Charter Certification, took tons of people out sailing, and then ended up buying my own 23 boat. I faded away from OCSC for a number of years while owning my own hole in the water into which I threw money. Then I sold my boat and reconnected with OCSC. They have a different business model but the people - both the staff and the members - are still some of the nicest folks youd ever want to meet. The instructors are all top notch, patient, and very experienced. They have a great fleet of boats to charter and they will make you a confident, competent, and SAFE skipper. If you can sail on SF Bay, especially in the summer, youll be confident sailing nearly anywhere else on the planet - especially if youre a member at OCSC Sailing!
