Really great views, nice outdoors. Part of the garden is closed at the moment cause of renovation im assuming just based on the orange tape. However, theres still a small section available for viewing with some benches for sitting and its a really lovely spot.
It is a busy park but it has plenty parking space. There is no entry fee, I love the rose garden, it is well taking care of.Plenty of seating within the garden.Absolutely gorgeous place for romantic evening and watching sunset.Beautiful view of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge.I will come back here again next year around spring time for more pictures.
The Berkeley Rose Garden is quite nice! It seems like the roses bloom from at least April through... the fall? Im not sure, but they have quite a variety and some truly gorgeous and unique plants. Its good for a quick visit--definitely dont plan to spend more than an hour at most there.Note, it is on a pretty steep hill, so keep that in mind if you have any mobility issues.
Very beautiful spot in the bay. The garden terrace looks like it was always there. Its currently going through some maintenance on two of the upper terraces. You can still get to the lower terraces by following the dirt path that is to the left if you are facing the bay. Its much safer than jumping the construction fence.
Very beautiful.. such an amazing place to go to and enjoy
I love this place literally the best place to go if you are having bad time !!! This place won’t disappoint you .
We love the Rose Garden! It’s a place we frequent often . Taking the kids and the dog along for a family friendly place to spend time together. We love the parks here. The tennis courts. Of course the Rose Garden, and the sunsets from here are some of the best I’ve seen on the West Coast with uninterrupted views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Area! Highly recommend this place for anyone and everyone!
A nice quiet place to enjoy and relax. Climb the stairs, explore, look at the creek. And try to identify the many different types of roses. There is a gate around the whole garden. So its fun to explore the whole grounds. When I visited the tennis courts where closed for construction. When they are open, the courts are a nice neighbor too either watch or to play afterwards.
Under construction. But beautiful none the less! Most go. Plus the park across the street is great for kids. Once we go back to normal.
This is a beautiful and well maintained garden. If you want to meditate or enjoy the roses and views... You will be delighted.
Lots of construction going on right now. Could have been prettier. Im sure it will be
Such beauty even with construction. The view of the Golden Gate is breathtaking on a clear day!
Its was a beautiful place with trails and lots of roses.
Beautiful and serene environment. The colorful roses adds up the beauty overall. Very nice place to hang out with family and friends.
A very calming and beautiful environment. Great views of the Bay Area which are unique each single day.
A nice girl from store recommend to visit rose garden and I went it was nice. It is quite small but the walk up to is very pleasant. Bring a book spend a afternoon with sun and the sweet smell of rose, what can be better?Location: Located north of downtown Berkeley, 30 min walk from downtown Berkeley BAR station.
Love seeing the roses in bloom. Amazing varieties. Such great color and scenery. Awesome spot in Berkeley to visit. Tucked in the picturesque North Berkeley hills.
It’s a beautiful and pleasure place to be. And the rose’s smell are wonderful.I love to go there.
Great view. Nice roses. Nice place to relax. Very close to the city centre. Unfortunately the mask guidelines are highly ignored at the moment by some people
An amazing rose garden up in the Berkeley Hills. There are many various rose types and multiple color variations. Try to find the rose color you think is the most intetesting or beautiful. At the top of the rose garden you can see out over a portion of the SF Bay on a clear day.
Lovely time with lovely people.Flowers smell good, did you know that?
Best time to go us now... April showers bring May flowers. The Roses are in bloom, the air is fragrant and the weather mild at a sunny 63°. Went before sunset 7ish, plenty of street parking on a Saturday evening.
The roses were beautiful
Entry is expensive if youre a couple ($24 for two people), but the garden itself is incredible. Such a unique thing to see such plant diversity in a small space.Come with a snack + water, good shoes, and lots of energy. Youll easily put miles on your feet wandering around. Cute little gift shop where you can pick up some unique plants for your personal garden as well.Definitely worth the visit.
Always a lovely place to visit whether the roses are blooming or not! Beautiful bay and Golden Gate Bridge views...some go just to view the sunsets. Benches for relaxing and lingering. Tennis courts and Codornices Park (great for kids and picnics!)across the street, accessible also by short pedestrian tunnel. A long time go to place in Berkeley hills. Good to walk up to from No. Berk.
A pretty cool spot to hang out for photo ops or just take a stroll. They have tennis courts right next to the garden. We went on the worst time because the flowers were not blooming. Not as big as other gardens Ive been to.
Great garden. The roses are pretty and they smell good. Pretty easy to walk through: not handicap accessible though.
One of my favorite Berkeley spaces. Beautiful garden with a wide variety of roses. During summer a little unattended but S.I.P. I think may be the reason.
Beautiful garden, great kids park, fun slide, nice and quiet. Its a perfect get away for the family
Beautiful rose garden in a nice, quiet neighborhood with great views of the Bay. Park and tennis courts adjacent, street parking and lots to explore make this a great place to spend a few hours. Highly recommend swinging by and checking it out!
Beautiful place to stop. Limited wheelchair access in that only 2 levels & the restrooms are accessible.I loved how each tier was a different color...plus a tranquil little waterfall at the bottom.
Beautiful oasis. Construction happening summer 2020, improvements will offer more access to those with ambulatory issues.
Worth a visit! Parking isnt easy, especially on a weekend but well worth the hassle. We spent about 90 min just walking around and lounging on the benches. Obviously its a seasonal thing to get the full effect but do much fun
Beautiful. So many varieties, not too many bees. Went with a 4 yo and she loved it.
First time visiting Berkeley Rose Garden. It was a beautiful day and the park looked beautiful. We had a nice picnic. Will be going back soo.
So beautiful and so many different types of roses. Very well taken care of and large. Glad we stopped here
Great rose garden. unique layer/tiers layouts. There were a few people who brought dogs in even though there were signs....
Beautiful during the peak rise season. Lots of people, like wedding groups, come to take pictures here. It’s free but can be hard to find street parking nearby. Here you can also catch some great views of the bay. Not wheelchair accessible to go down but views from street level are still impressive.
Great variety of rose plants and great view of San Francisco Bay.
In addition to beautiful flowers well taken cared, there are a lot of wooden benches, some in more hidden corners.
Take a nice stroll and see amazing colors
A bit of a walk from the Berkeley campus, but worth every step! I would think that the best time to visit is late spring or early summer when all of the roses are in bloom. Its not very easily accessible to those with mobility issues, but there is a viewing area at the top that would be suitable for all to enjoy. Everything is labeled, making it easy for gardeners to find new rose varieties to add to their home. A must see if visiting Berkeley!
Beautiful!! Nice place to read a book. Very Peaceful and clean. Tennis court adjacent to the garden.
Its under construction at this time and closed to public. Hopefully will get to visit once again and it will be open by then.
Amazing rose garden I remember from growing up in Berkeley in the 70s and 80s. Still amazing today! Get over there now :)
Great place to come alone or with friends and family. There are beautiful views of the bay, a small stream, trees, and of course, roses (depending on the season). The sunset over the water with the trees and garden in the foreground is worth the drive or walk from elsewhere in Berkeley.
This place is great to walk around and see so many variations of roses that you didn’t know existed! There are plenty of benches to take some time to sit back and relax.
Had a wonderful experience and a wonderful time and lots of pet lovers with their dogs there well go again.
A nice place to have lunch with someone nice.
Beautiful place, everyone must wear face mask
Park is free and such a neat place to walk around. Great place to bring your family. If you go past the tennis court and under the bridge it brings you to another park with a giant slide. I recommend you use the cardboard to go down the slide. Lots of fun!
A terraced ampitheater of roses galore... Best time to come here is late April and first part of May
Great spot to stop by and do a variety of things. I see many people read, draw, work on their laptops, and also just hanging out with friends or family. Blooming season is absolutely gorgeous, but its actually pretty nice regardless of what time of year. It can get very hot during the summer if you go between 11am and 2 PM so bring a hat or umbrella!
Its nice that this exists as a public space, but theres not much of a view or space to sit and relax.
The rose garden is situated within the residential area, opposite to a park. There is no entry fee and it seemed like an open garden. There is no separate parking area but you can park in the streets. The garden is in an open stage plan area. There are different kind of roses throughout and benches for resting and spending time. Looked like a perfect place to spend a quite romantic evening.
Was under construction on one side but overall the garden is beautiful.
Poppin in late April/early May.
Beautiful, a bit run down, under construcción
Get your freak on.... just playing very romantic place
Love this park
Nice place to have your to go lunch.
It is under construction currently, so not too much to enjoy.
Beautiful amphitheater style garden with lots of benches and a view to the ocean. We went there at the end of February and saw the first blossom of the garden - A “ red planet “ .
A beautiful place for a picnic!
It was a beautiful warm summers day to venture out to Berkeley in the late afternoon to check out the Rose Gardens. Honestly, I didnt know what to expect, I had heard parking would be a little difficult because there isnt a designated parking lot. But I didnt experience much difficulty, it just took a little bit of patience and a bit of driving slower, in search of a parking space. Parking is completely free and so is the Rose Garden. The garden wasnt too crowded, but there were plenty of people walking, sitting and admiring the flowers. There are plenty of benches along the perimeter of the many of the flower beds and there are tennis courts off to the side of the garden, which I thought was a little random.Currently the roses are in full bloom and theyre beautiful. Besides them being in their flower beds, they are in full view and capable of being photographed at several different angles. Like the Plant Tour I took last weekend at Tilden, there are small signs near the roses telling you what roses you are viewing. There are stone steps to the garden and another set of stairs towards more beds of roses. Be careful when going down the stairs, they are pretty steep and they are high steps. While the rose garden is a beautiful and peaceful place to be, I dont know how soon I will be returning, like I said its not a very large garden, i was able to see the entire garden area in about an hour.On a warmer less windy day, it could serve as a nice peaceful place to chill, relax, read or write. Its a nice leisure place to experience.
The rose garden is easily accessible by car as there is generally a lot of free parking nearby. Plenty of seating within the garden, though the walkway maybe too steep for those with wheelchairs or impaired mobility. Best time to go is late spring or early summer. There is also a small vantage where you can see the bay and lower Berkeley from the hill.
A beautiful walk, lots of great flowers. Good for photography.
The fragrance from the roses is amazing!
Stunning amphitheater of over a thousand kinds of roses. Gorgeous views of the bay and San Francisco skyline
April -June are probably the best times to visit. May appears to be peak time for roses to be in bloom. There are large variety of roses to see. All for free with live music on Sundays.
Fabulous gem of a garden with huge array of roses in an amphitheater-like setting offering panoramic views of the SF bay and Mt Tamalpais. Built by the WPA in 1937, connects to Codornices Park through an under-street tunnel. Lovely anytime of year but truly spectacular in May-June at the peak of the blooming season.Giant Sequoias line the path to the tunnel. Go through the tunnel to access Codornices Park and treat yourself to a walk though the redwoods along Codornices Creek. At the top of the park there is a little grove of meta sequoias (dawn redwoods). This is one of the spots in Berkeley you can see all three types of Sequoias in one place. (Faculty Glade on the UC Berkeley campus is another).
Great place. good point to see the sunset.
Nice place to see beautiful flowers bloom and grow during spring
Lively Garden Beautiful n All
This spot became our favorite place in our neighbourhood.
I love this rose garden. Its so beautiful, even when the roses arent in bloom, but when they are its absolutely gorgeous. Grab a good book pick your view under an arbor and have a great hour or 2 or 3.
Free plesent place to relax and visit some flowers. It is a tiered garden with many steps.
Large variety of roses, well cared for. Accessible if you can walk (its terraced, and more steps than ramps), uncrowded, and free. Public restrooms were locked and unavailable. Whats the point of having them?
Beautiful Roses in August 2020
Great place to come and relax. If you are just visiting the area this should be one of your stops.
The rose garden was very beautiful. We walked up here from downtown Berkeley and it was a bit of a hike but worth it. One thing was that in some places smelled like garbage. They need to do a better job of managing that. But it was a great place to go if you like looking at flowers.
Lovely Heaven.
Super lovely when the rose flowers are in bloom. Loved all the many types of roses at this garden.
Amazing place to go and see beautiful flowers.
Be prepared to be wow-ed! This is a rose haven...bring a camera...and take time to explore this treasure trove. Classic: Stop and smell the rainbow of roses.
So beautiful and peaceful
Beautiful to spend time there.
Was driving by the Berkeley Rose Garden. Had to stop for the gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Since it is winter, there arent many flowers in bloom. However, it is still a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the scenery and smell the roses.. There were many families and joggers nearby. Take the time to enjoy what mother nature has to offer.
Gorgeous garden.. laying on a stadium size land with easy access in to the garden. + Handicap accessible ..But going down a hill. so be mindful the way up is going to be a bit steep..great trail park across the street
Beautiful location. Great place to hang out and chat with a friend. There are also a couple of geocaches nearby if you do those. This would be a nice place to hang out and read/study if you go to school at GTU or Cal. Also, the bus from downtown BART goes directly to it up Euclid, so no matter where you are along that route, you can quickly get there.
Great place for photoshoot or place to meditate. The view from the top is a masterpiece and the place after it rains looks like a heaven. A garden of Eden in the heart of Berkeley. Good place for a picnic or a date. Weird wooden bridges but overall great place.
The view was amazing. Even tho I went in January, and then roses were dead, it was still beautiful.
The roses that are there are aromatic and therapeutic. Loved it but I look fwd to when the garden is greener and rosey. It was a bit on the dry side but then again its sunmer. Next door ia a tennis court and across the street is a park so the area is quite lively.
Nice but kinda small
Great view of the bay and a nice spot to get away from it all.
