The bathrooms and showers are nice and well maintained. Showers are separate from each other which is very nice. We went on a weekend in August, campground was full, trails were not which is nice. Little to no bugs. Good variety of trails, the lake is a short walk from the campground. Easy bike access to the Paul Bunyan State Trail, which is great. Overall, great state park.
This state park is beautiful. There are hiking trails around the lake. The campground is reserve only and no first come first serve spots. The spots are not very private and close together and its a busy place, so keep that in mind. The views of the lake are worth it though. Fall is a good time to camp especially during the week because less people.
Such a great experience, so serene more than I expected. I would recommend this place to anyone that truly wants to spend family time and connect with nature.
We were there to use the beach & picnic area. It was clean & spacious. Lots of room to spread out. Picnic tables are under the trees overlooking the beach area. Beautiful long, sandy beach perfect for kids & adults. Great swimming area, too. Also, hiking & biking trails abound.
Best steak Park that I have ever been to... Everybody is very respectful of quiet time and the facilities are clean.......... the employees are so laid-back and kind Ive never experienced such kind people before
I am sure my kids will remember the fun times we spent on this beach while here camping with family. I wish we could have brought my daughters bike because I could have rented one so easily. I learned this trip that campsites with electric access arent made for tents. We made it work but didnt get a flat spot despite switching sites. The boat launch is really convenient near the entrance, however my family was bummed not to get much activity out musky fishing. We really enjoyed the many amenities this Campground offered as our group also rented one of the cabins and the Bass Creek group site.
Campground was well maintained with easy access to the marina, beach, and trails. Rangers kindly answered all of our questions. The bathrooms and showers were clean and convenient. Plan accordingly as the showers were much busier in the evening than the rest of the day.
Great park! We rode our bike on the trails. We saw 2 eagles, lots of pretty flowers.
This is a great State Park with a good mix of activities. A large clean Beach with picnic shelters shower rooms volleyball court horseshoes and grills in a grassy shaded area down by the lake. Campground is nice but limited privacy between sites. There is an excellent modern playground near the beach area. Rental bikes are available. The boat launch has ample parking and docks where you can leave your boats temporarily while you are at the park. A large Pier is available to fish from and there is a fish cleaning house.
Nice park to visit and camp at. The bog walk was fun.
Great place to see lady slippers and carnivorous plants.
Beautiful My 1st time going ! And I lived up here a good 20 yrs
Nice park. Most campsites are clumped together, so be ok with that. Sweet little boat launch and quite a few slips to use in a small sheltered bay. Good for outboards and small runabouts
Very large park but very unkept, the park had a lot of potential but very dirty it needed weed whacking every where and mowing. The camping are was crowded. The beach was very dirty. They should take a lesson from Itasca State Park, the nicest and cleanest Star Park I’ve ever seen. They should take a lesson from the city for being so clean and beautiful.
Me and my wife enjoyed a wonderful winter day with our dogs at the park. We didn’t get to see all of the park due to all the snow but we did get to hike along a snowshoe path and got to take in some of Minnesota’s beautiful winter landscape. I only gave 4 stars due to the staff, he was nice but not very informative ( in his defense I don’t think he worked in the office often) otherwise great park
This State Park is just a few miles out of town and right on the lake. There are manicured ski trails and plenty of paths for snowshoeing. The rental cabins are warm and cozy even in winter.
The park is clean and beautiful. Went down a trail to the Bog Lake, and the Bog boardwalk was in such good condition and yet it didnt disturb the environment around it.
Beautiful park, very scenic and well maintained. Bathrooms were open and clean, a big plus in the current covid world. Beach was accessable and water clear. Excellent bike trails and numerous camping sites. Definitely would go back and stay if given a chance. Check it out!
The Bog trail is amazing, especially if you take your time.
Beautiful state park to go for a bike or rollerblade! Love it.
The park is very nice and well kept. The trails are an excellent place to get a little exercise.
The park has wonderful trails. The big walk was my favorite. This late in the year the werent many mosquitoes, however, Id you go earlier youll need to make sure you have protection from the biters.
Busy, but great camping, fishing and swimming on the beach
Love the bog trail. Very unique among Minnesota state parks.
All the activities were canceled, and the visitors center was closed. But. The lake was nice.
The area is great and the facilities are nice. Just the masks in the bathroom is a strange thing to do.
Beautiful park and lake facilities
Lake Bemidji State Park is beautiful, comfortable, large, and local. I love it year round and even take the family camping there even though I live here in town. Make a reservation!
Nice place to go for a swim or a quiet walk in the woods. The bog walk is great!
Beautiful park! Plenty of groomed cross country ski trails with a variety of terrain.
Beautiful place to have a picnic, go swimming or camp out
Love the bog trail...lady slippers were beautiful
Friendly staff and a beautiful park. It is not a state park that is overly secluded due to a highway running adjacent to some of the trails but it is still beautiful. There is a beach with fishing dock and wooden benches. There are bathrooms as well.
Beautifully maintained park. Clean. Quiet. Accessible trails.
Beautiful park with great trails for walking and biking.
Beach front and bike trail make this a great place to take thr family.
Loved our stay at both the Spruce and Balsam camper cabins! Lots of outdoor space for our 3 kids, private, and clean!
We enjoyed the well manicured trails, your trees must be 400 years old, which is simply magnificent. Most important was spending time with my daughter & grand puppy Whuppy...
Nice park with a great beach and plenty of trails for biking and hiking. Camping, Electric sites lack privacy.
Staff is very very rude and discrimanatory, you have a hard time to get to the bathrooms because they close it for cleaning and cleaning happens in the morning when people need mostly to use the bathrooms. Then they do make noise with leveling the gravel ground while people are there and need piece and quite to enjoy the nature and relax. At this park while you want to relax the staff does not let you have your piece, they are constantly driving around and snooping around your camp spot that you paid for to come and relax but no it feels like having univited guest control every breath of yours.
Lovely state park with easy access to the lake, good picnic locations, campgrounds and boat moorings. Everyone was social distancing, and enjoying themselves.
Perfect for a family camping trip. The staff was amazing and the campground was perfect for our family.
Great campground. Gorgeous lake.. Friendly staff
Best swimming beach in the area. Larg and sand with no weeds
This time of year the trails are beautiful.
Nice park. Good trails.
Wonderful park. Bike program should be at every park that can do it. Fall was a little early, but we had a great time.
Great park to stay at. Clean and well kept. The free dock space is first come fist serve. docks and ramps are setup for a smaller crafts our 23 larson took up two docks.
Beautiful beach open for public access with state park pass, camping and boat access also available.
Its pretty but lots of people!
Here you can see the state bird and the state flower on the same hike, as well as carnivorous pitcher plants!
Enjoyed camping and hiking. Wife liked the beach and swimming. Small visitor center with an educational area in lower level. Amphitheater. The bog walk is nice. Its board walk passes interesting native MN plants such as Lady Slipper and some that trap and digest insects. Time of year will be a factor. There is a building with showers and flush toilets. Also well kept outhouses in areas. Campsites are not real private. Can be close. We did get a nice site though.
Clean park. Friendly rangers. Nice trails. Not as scenic as I was expecting.
Lake Bemidji State Park is a nice place, bike trail, swimming beach, boat launch, etc. Close to town, golf course and other amenities.
Semi private wooded sites on a pretty lake
Some of the best views around!! A must visit!!
Lovely, and well-marked trails. Many ticks this time of year, so be vigilant.
Really nice park with plenty of trails and things to do. There is a rental place to rent a kayak or other sort of boat as well. Trails are paved and perfect to have a long bike ride at. Plenty of camping spots as well for any major holidays. Definitely one of the better state parks in Minnesota.
Beautiful park. A great little slice of nature, very close to the city of Bemidji.
I just took a brief walk around the lake loopit was beautiful I am excited to see more especially the bog walk. They also have bike maintenance stand and rentals incase you forgat yours or just de ide to ride the trails.
This is a beautiful park on Lake Bemidji. It has stunning views and beautiful wildlife.
Beautiful park. Endless trails for biking or hiking. My daughter and I did the 18 mile loop around the lake. Bog walk is nice. Bikes for rent. There was a play and a blue grass band the weekend we we there. Protected slips for your boat. I recommend it.
Within 5 miles of downtown Bemidji MN. This State Park is should be on your list to check out for locals or for visitors looking for camping & lake shore fun & edication! Very nice state park with moderate trails and great for families. Restrooms and showers rival many private campgrounds, they are clean and modern. After a rain, the staff groomed the roads, which is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 32 ft MH.Some sites are on a slope, but have seen much worse. Enjoy your stay
This is a beautiful state park on the edge of Bemidji. Theres something for everyone: a swimming beach, fishing, bikes to rent if you bring a helmet and a lovely trail along the lake to bike or walk. The trails are beautiful. If you dont have much time, park by the swimming beach and hike the easy one mile loop through the woods and to an overlook of the lake. The wonderful Northwoods-mixed-with-lake fragrance awaits!
This park is fantastic! The bathroom, and shower facilities are clean. The park staff are all super friendly and helpful. Richard and Dawn, the park hosts are absolutely amazing! There are almost daily activities for the kids. There are lots of scenic trails for hiking/running/biking.
We were here for the loop the lake bike ride. This was a really pretty area and I really want to go back and bike again. Bemidji is definitely a good area to go biking. I looked it up online, didnt look into it too good, but I thought I saw that there are 41 miles of paved trails. And then off some of the trails in the state park there are dirt trails that looked really fun to try.
A really cool park with lots to do- hiking, biking, swimming, relaxing. Excellent birding in August, 2019. We had a great secluded camp site. Friendly and helpful staff. Our purchased firewood was terrible, it had reportedly been left out in the rain, but seemed to me it was green/not cured also- cant cook over a fire with wood that doesnt burn. I understand the importance of not bringing firewood in- but please provide good wood!
Very unkept, I wish it was in better condition.
Great park! The swimming beach is very nice, and I loved the trail to Bog Lake. There are plenty of other trails too, which are open to mountain biking, so if thats your thing, you should plan a visit.
Very beautiful and very relaxing campground
So much fun! Huge fan of camper cabins! Even in the middle of winter!
The bog walk was very interesting. In early summer should have a lot of orchids easily visible. Many pitcher plants were blooming.
Nice state park with plenty of trails to walk and a small playground for the kids. The xc ski trails are nice in the winter.
Family and I had a great day. Biked most of the Bog Walk, then spent the afternoon splashing in the lake at the swimming area. Follow that up with a short hike to Rocky Point Lookout and a pit stop by the playground. Kids were in heaven and thought it was the best!
Nice but the need more private sites
Beautiful fall colors!
Great park. Family had an amazing time camping here. Programming was fantastic, beach and facilities excellent.
Bog boardwalk is great, youll see many rare plants like sundew and pitcher plants.
Beautiful park. Well taken care of trails. Excellent place to hike and bike.
Nice beach n trails
Love the trails and picnic areas. Good swimming and playground area. Park Rangers do an excellent job.
Last week we rode our bikes around Lake Bemidji. The most beatiful part of that ride is the portion that goes through the park. I also had an opportunity to return to the park and do the Bog Walk trail a couple of days later. It is an easy walk suitable for people of all ages. We saw lots of amazing flowers in bloom including my favorites, arethusa orchids and pitcher plants. The park was not crowded and the staff was helpful and friendly.
Beautiful state park. Lots of camping
Nice campground. Spacious, clean bathrooms. Easy access to Bemidji
Pretty Minnesota scenery with paved walking/hiking/biking trail.
Nice quiet state park. Clean beach. Bog walk is beautiful.
Great for family of all ages. Swimming, fishing, hiking and scenic. Great bog walk on a boardwalk.
Great park. Sites are sometimes close together but that’s common in Minnesota. The sites on Aspen loop (#76 and up) have the most privacy but are harder to back into if you have a longer camper. Showers are cold on the Aspen loop bathroom. Swim beach is much nicer than Lake Itaska SP. Make sure to fill up with water at entry. The spickets at the bathrooms are made to fill buckets and won’t connect to a hose. Bring something for the bugs.
Beautiful colors!
Wonderful placeCamper cabins are great, even though you cant cook in them.
We like this park, we can Bicycle around Lake Bemidji, as we did yesterday, joining up with Paul Bunyan Trail. Or you can go swimming, or hiking on one of the many trails, or fish as my Grandson did from the pier, or rent kayak and so on.At this time of year there are not as many special plants and flowers in Blossom, but the bog walk is still interesting. Yesterday, among other birds, we saw eagles and we believe we saw two osprey.
Our kids love the swimming beach and the campground is always clean and a great place to camp with your family!
During peak touristing, it gets a little crowded and hectic for my taste.. but its busy because its a great state park. Call ahead if you dont like lots of neighbors when youre camping.
This is a very nice State Park! The bathrooms and showers look new, and are super clean (which my wife very much appreciated). There are rowboat rentals, kayak rentals, and canoe rentals. There are only 2 canoes for rent. There is a nice little marina with boat slips available, a nice beach, and a fishing pier also. Staff was very helpful amd friendly. There are some nice trails . The only thing I didnt like was that there is zero privacy between campsites. We are tent campers, not RV campers. It would be nice to have some separate wooded campsites for tent campers.
