I was really impressed upon coming in to the restaurant... It was clean and it was an interesting concept that they cut your meat up for you in the first corridor. Then you proceed to the sides, condiments and desserts. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They made recommendations which were very helpful to my taste and the service was fast, friendly and efficient!Overall a very, very pleasurable experience.Thank you :-)

Stopped in there this past Thursday. Place was delicious. I’ve tried my fair share off BBQ Joints around the Central Texas area with my job And this place is in the top 3 no doubt. Great customer service, and as I said food was on point. I got the Vaquero, and it was great for sandwich. I got mine to go since I had to get back on the road. Looking forward to sitting down and eating at this spot again!

The food was substandard, cold and service was poor. This place is a rip off. A year ago I paid $35.You guys charged us $4 dollars for 2 pieces of bread and you did not inform us that is not part of the meal anymore? Schoepfs is griddy. Then you did not inform us that our plate did not include any sides so you charged me for each side individually. The lady at the counter stated that my plate came with 2 sides. However, when it was time to pay, I got charged different. She charged me each item individaully. I got 1 scoop of potatoes $2.75, 2 scoops of green beans $5.50, 2 pieces of chicken $8.5. Total bill $44.93. Guess what? Any other bbq restaurant the sides are included and we do not have to go broke eating here. For example County Line, Bill Miller BBQ, Johhnys BBQ, Rudys do not have this exhorbitant prices.This is outrageous and the fact that you deceive your customers is horrible. This is not the way to treat your customers during a pandemic.I will never return here; this is highway robbery.You guys need to learn to make an honest living like the rest of us without stiffing your customers and using deceitful pricing. Place your prices at the front of each counter. Let your customers know that all the items you give them are charged individually and train your staff to be transparent. Let your customers know how much everything cost by displaying your prices at the front of each counter where it is visible to the customer.I have eaten at the most elite bbq restaurants in Austin, etc and I never got ripped off like this and they give you very generous portions for your money and yes much better quality bbq and very large portions.Stay away from this place!

We have been here many times, most recently was like 2 weeks ago. We ate and then went to the backyard to watch Roger Creager. The whole experience was great!! Food is delicious and we are never disappointed. The concert was free and really awesome. Definitely have to try this authentic Texas BBQ.

My favorite dish is the spinach brisket quesadilla with everything. Brisket has heavier smokey taste the other brisket in the area. With COVID the prices here have increase more that expected. This item went up 3.00 dollars so for almost 18.00 I can get a better piece of beef and get waited on, and not stand in line like a cafeteria like setting.

Hadnt eaten here in over four years. I was recently in town and wanted to try one of my favorite bbq spots. The atmosphere is great, the bbq is some of the best Ive ever eaten, and the sides are always good. This time around the service was not what I recall it being in the past and my order was not right. The staff were not as friendly as I recall then bring in the past. I was rushed to place my order, two other customers were rushed after me, and as I waited I noticed the phone service want much better. There was no need to rush anyone or (as in one case) not even acknowledge a customers question. They werent busy. It was steady, but not busy. I had placed my order to go and since Ive never had an issue with an order in the past I didnt check it this time. once I arrived home I noticed that my two potatoes did not have sour cream there was no barbecue sauce, and neither of my sandwiches had pickles or onion as I had requested. I was a bit disappointed this time around and Im hoping that this has not become the norm.

Great food got a table pretty fast. Quite expensive. So if you got a fat wallet and an empty stomach, give this place a try

The food was okay. Staff was so-so, could’ve been a bit more welcoming. Brisket was average, jalapeño cheese sausage was dry, and the sides were average. Not bad, but definitely had better. BBQ is expensive no matter where you go, but I still feel like it wasn’t worth the money. Probably will not go back for the food, but we plan to go back for a concert. Out back they have a stage with some seating where they hold live music.

We picked up some BBQ Chicken and a Slab of Baby Back Ribs without the sauce or sides because we both are on the Ketogenic Diet.We took the meat home to apply our Ketogenic BBQ Sauce. The meats were smoked to perfection, juicy, and delicious. We enjoyed our dinner today.

One of the best BBQ meals I have had in a long time. I got enough of the ribs and jalepeno sausage to put some in the freezer when I need another good meal. Well worth the drive. I have read reviews but they do not do the food justice!

To be honest the brisket was better than Terry blacks in my opinion and their Mexican street corn was on par. Definitely check this place out if you get hungry or stop to get gas!

Way over priced for what I got. Was very disappointed in the quality. Paid $22 for three slices of brisket. Half of 5 ½ cup of Cole slaw. About 10 small pieces of sausage. Not worthy time or money. Felt like the portion sizes were for a child.

Great Concert. Come early, a lot of tables are reserved. Awesome atmosphere and crowd and no entrance fee, but only cash accepted for drinks!

UPDATE 11/30 My previous review is honest, never had any issues, always love going to Schoepfs... My whole family did not enjoy our last visit. We drove a long way to come eat here for my moms birthday, but was basically turned away because we walked in with a cake I had made for her. Would not recommend for birthdays. Highly embarrassing when you get told out loud you cant bring in a cake for your own mothers birthday . No signs on doors about outside food or drink -which trust me I understand, I really do... apparently theres one at the register.We were going to set up her table to surprise her, but there went that idea! Guess well choose another BBQ place next time. Food was still good, just a very unpleasant experience... Wont be going back anytime soon, sorry. Guess their rules are more important than their guests experience...On our part, we werent intentionally trying to disregard any rules, but on Schoepfs part, I feel like it could have been handled privately versus, out loud publicly, and while while cashing another person out. Im sorry for bringing the cake... We felt awkward the whole time. 3 Weeks Prior Review I always love coming to Schoepfs!! Definitely some of my favorite BBQ in Central Texas! I always go for the brisket, and make myself a sandwich with some sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. My boyfriend got the brisket nachos, which is definitely enough for 2! Could be the best tasting brisket Ive had. Moist and amazingly flavorful. Im so glad I didnt put any sauce on it, it doesnt need any! Also had the venison sausage which was good too. They were out of slaw, but I wont hold that against them.

The food is delicious! I love their potato salad and their bbq sauce! I love that they cut the fat off the brisket. The reason why I don’t give them 5 stars is because for the amount of food they put on your plate it’s a little expensive. One meat and two sides (sides are the size of ice cream scoop) no drink $11.14.

Our food was cold and they proceeded to charge us for everything. All the sides cost extra and the cheese bread cost almost $4. Very unhappy. 2 meat, 1 meat and sides cost over $44. We wanted a togo box but we’re afraid it would cost us. The owner’s daughter came by after hearing us complain and apologized for bad and cold food but offered no resolution. Until they change their current “charge you for every pinto bean you get” we will not be back.Well sir you certainly put me in my place. I guess I should have made your staff take all the food back and fix it right then. Question, what do you do when your food is cold, have the staff microwave it for you? You have made your point. Not only will I never darken your steps again I will tell everyone I know how rude you are. After all I am just the poor pitiful customer. When one of my clients was upset I fixed it even if it was after the fact. I never dressed them down. Your business not mine but as the paying customer you can bet I will never be back.

The BBQ is ok. I paid $52 for 3 chopped beef sandwiches, a tiny potato salad and some cucumber salad. Its good, but not that good. I personally will not be eating at Schoepfs again. I would assume for the price, others will also find another BBQ joint.

The lady who seemed to be in charge was extremely blunt and monotone. Seemed as though she was unhappy to have customers and 10/10 will not be coming to spend money here again even though the food was excellent. We had the ribs and loaded baked potato. The food and tea were excellent and the place was very clean. The man serving our meat was hilarious and the rest of the staff was really nice too.

I held my Christmas party there. My brothers birthday party. I have brought over 40 people there. I go weekly and I live an hour away. The owners are wonderful. Staff is great and the food is out of this world. I stopped going to all other bbq places.

This was my first time eating at Schoepfs. It was recommended by friend who met my wife and me there for lunch. Our friend wanted a sausage popper but they had been bought out. After we ordered and were seated, the owner actually took the time and prepared one just for her and brought it out to the table. This was very special customer service. We really appreciated that and will be back for sure.

As someone who has been apart of the bar/restaurant industry I know that negative google/yelp reviews are where local and small businesses go to suffer. These people at Schoepfs have fought and risked a lot to bring a quality BBQ joint to Belton. Its great food and really nice people. Dont let these reviews steer you away from a great Texas BBQ joint. People need more gratitude and less attitude. Go see for yourself and leave your bad attitude at the door and let the tasty brisket take you away to a nice place away from the hardships of this world and if it wasnt for you, happily go elsewhere instead of being a keyboard warrior potentially ruining a family business.

I’m nervous to write a review after seeing some of the comments on previous reviews... but here goes nothing. I’m not from Texas and wanted to have some good Texas bbq. I was excited to notice the establishment especially since we are new to Belton. When my husband and I arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff member in the smoke house. Since this was our first time we were uncertain as what to get. The kind gentleman helped with several recommendations. We decided on the moist brisket. Everything sounded amazing!! Then onto the sides we went. The gal behind the counter was pleasant when we explained that we were first timers. The green beans are heaven... even if they could be a bit warmer... I’d eat then cold. They were fantastic! We had the pinto beans with the fresh tomatoes and cilantro and they too were amazing. My only wish was I had gotten the 5,50 portion because the small was too small. We also had the Mexican street corn and while it was good it wasn’t our favorite. When we were checking out the gal could have absolutely been friendlier... I will say this, tonight was a concert night so it was more than likely busier than normal evenings but it was early. I mean people were just starting to line up when we were leaving around 5:30. I asked if they offered military discounts. Not that we expect a discount but we definitely appreciate when it is offered. The gals response was unfortunate. She said, “No, we don’t because because we do hail and farewell’s. Is what I’ve been told. So since we do those we don’t do discounts too.” I said that’s so sad, as typically those are for certain people and not everyone gets those. Maybe you should let your managers or owners know. My thought is and was, maybe the owners don’t know that everyone doesn’t get this send off. None the less we enjoyed our dinner. The moist brisket is too fatty for my liking. My pups will love us a bit more tonight once they get their treat. I don’t know what the average price for bbq is but we paid 44$. I will say this, I look forward to returning and trying again the brisket... just not moist... along with other items featured on your lovely menu.

We stopped here because the line at Miller’s Smokehouse was out the door, and boy are we glad it was!! The brisket was delicious with an amazing tasty bark, the sausage was garlicky and tasty and the jalapeño cheese sausage had a hint of heat with a deliciously cheesy taste. My husband and I both really loved the sweet and spicy bbq sauce. We also ordered the scalloped potatoes, coleslaw and Mac and cheese - we ate it all!! Overall, everything was delicious! Skip the hype of Millers and come on over to Schoepf’s!

Food is cold and side portions are extremely small for what you pay for. The taste of the food isn’t anything special. I recommend going to Miller’s any day over this place. Food was decent. Had the sliced beef sandwich. The bun was a little overpowering (too big) but the meat was good and the sauce was tasty. Got the slaw and potato salad (both good). My only issue is that for the sandwich, two small sides and a drink, I paid over $19. Insanely overpriced in my opinion.

Considering that my husband and I drove 3 hours to get Bbq ribs and sides from Schoepfs, the food is always great and hasnt changed since we moved from Killeen to Conroe 4 years ago. However, the sides that we purchased (scalloped potatoes & coleslaw) were $5.50 each for the small size which was pretty steep. That was the only downfall.

A little different way to do things, you come in and get your meat cut and weighed up, then go in to the next area for your sides, drink and to pay. I got a nice slab of ribs with mac n cheese and potato salad for sides. Everything was tasty, properly cooked and served with a smile. I will definitely be back.

Went to eat with friends and had one of the worst bbq meals I have ever had. Every thing was cold and the brisket was dry! My friends were also very disappointed. I had company/friends and didnt want to say anything. However when they brought it up, I then added my 2 cents. Yes I ate most the food, before I said anything and it was so expensive I would have eaten it ice cold. What would you do microwave it?? The food should have been at least warm! You really need management school! In all my days I have never heard a manager/owner downgrade his customers like you do. I read some of the other complaints and many were about cold food and too expensive. You dont have a clue how to treat your customers! Im over 60 and in those years have never heard a manager/owner deal with customers like you did. Shame, most managers go out of their way to make the customer happy. You dont have a clue how to do that. Nor do you train your staff how to treat their customers. It was nice of the waitress to ask if we had any problems, however she didnt say anything about helping out. She didnt ask us to wait until she could help or anything. Again, poor poor management rolls down to poor staff assistance. Again I hope your other customers can put up with bad food and poor management but me and my friends will not. Too Bad.....

Had dinner here 02/13/20 food is ok, service is horrible. We were never greeted upon walking up to order & saying hello. We were only told SOLD OUT when we tried to order BBQ chicken. Then more rudeness when picking our sides by the female who rang us up that also never responded to us saying hello & treated us like we were bothering her. We paid about $100 for dinner for four for this experience.

First time trying bbq at Schoepfs. BBQ was average but was mainly unsatisfied with price for what you get. $38 and change for a bbq nacho, chopped beef sandwich, mac & cheese, coke, and a Dos Equis. I know bbq is expensive and I don’t mind paying for it if you get a decent portion. Nachos had very little meat and was mainly beans and chips. Way overpriced compared to Miller’s down the street which has better bbq.

Ok so the Brisket is to die for. I, However, would definitely go home and make my own sides! 3 bucks for a little cup of blah was just very disappointing! For the price you pay you should be getting something amazing! The sides had no flavor at all I had Beans, some potato concoction, and macaroni.. I mean I have had better macaroni at some fast food places! I’m sorry if this offends anyone I just have to be honest!! The meat is well worth the price that’s for sure!! As I walk in I am greeted by a very friendly blonde young woman(I didnt catch her name). I looked lost so she explained to me how to order. As I walk out the door to the meat counter I get a nose full of delicious smokey goodness just waiting to be eaten. I look high and low browsing the menu trying not to order one of everything. I cant help it, I go for the turkey, brisket and more brisket. He slaps the meat on the scale and I see the juicy meat get piled higher and higher. I can almost taste it but I must continue through and finish my order. With six many options I panic and say I want a taco. The young blonde woman looks puzzled. Am I too excited that I cant talk? Probably. She scrolls the menu when I clarify and say I want the taco with coleslaw. She asks her counterpart where the special tacos are on the computer, she gets her answer. I still am to excited to talk and I just mumble yes. Next thing I know Im getting choices of anything I can imagine. Mac and cheese looked so creamy and cheesy, the slaw looked so refreshing and crunchy. I must focus. I already have a pile of steamy smokey meat and ordered a brisket taco on top of it. I refrain from anything more. Wait there is pickles, onion and bread? Yes I want all of that too. Finally my order is complete and I walk to my table. I get a cup full of what seemed to be fresh squeezed lemonade, only it was in the fountain and was made with real sugar! Perfectly tart yet sweet. I sit down and realize I forgot a fork. That wont stop me. Sauce and pickles and meat go everywhere as I start to devour my meal set for a king. I pause and remember Im in public, embarrassed of my display I go get a fork and knife. I finish my lunch and just sit there happy for another 5 minutes sipping lemonade. It was a great experience and I will be sure to come back. Shout out to the blonde woman for exceptional service, and the meat cutter guy for a perfect .25lb cut of turkey, right on the dot, first try.

SO DELICIOUS. Our favorite stop for brisket and sausage. Try the venison sausage, it has so much flavor! And there are plenty of sides to choose from: my favorite is the fresh cucumber salad. Staff are friendly, even the cleaning lady was kind to my family.

This is my all time favorite BBQ joint in the entire world. I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. Every single thing is good here and you need to try everything. I always get the brisket and some of the sausage. The sides are amazing and the staff is friendly. The picture attached is of the pit master cutting up your meat. I am getting hungry just thinking about the food I have had here.

I would not recommend them anymore. 7pm on a Saturday night and we were informed they were out of everything except brisket and sausage, we asked about getting a steak and were told it was too late to cook one . This is not the first time that this has happened on a Saturday.

Really interesting BBQ place. I enjoyed my pork chop but probably would have been happier with a different choice. The green beans and potato salad are on point! The corn bread was also very good. I wish I had gotten my own. A real Texas BBQ experience.

Amazing brisket. The meat was juicy and tender with an amazing smoke flavor. I was really disappointed with the macaroni and cheese. It tasted like the stuff you get frozen and the sauce made me think it was and then microwaved. It was a runny sauce, not creamy, like I expect from a southern BBQ place. The green beans were good, but WAY overpriced.

A chopped brisket sandwich. A very small side of scalloped potatoes and cheese. And an iced tea for almost $14. Thats ridiculous. I dont mind paying, but give me my moneys worth. Those sides are way too small and the overall meal wasnt worth $14 dollars. You dont have to blood suck to make money.

Absolutely loved this food. Got the special and all of it was excellent. Great place to go when driving through or Im up there coaching.

Unbelievable food and service. Ive never had my mouth water so much just walking in. You wont be able to decide what to eat. I highly recommend their brisket. I was worried about it being dry, but it was absolutely perfect. By far the best Ive had. They were extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Plan to go there again.

I love the food and normally the service is great. Not today. Absolutely disorganized. No one working the pit, no clue what was ready and the cashier took forever to ring up two sausage link. Hope this is not the new normal.

This place is excellent. The brisket melts in your mouth. NOTHING was bad, nothing. And the staff was very helpful. Too bad we are traveling through because I would eat there weekly. YUM.

Food was fantastic! The ladies that work there are great, the guy that cuts the meat is one of the rudest individuals I have ever come across. He was as condescending as possible with every question I asked, which was the same one 5 times since he was too bothered to actually respond the first time. Once we made it past that guy everything was great! Too bad he is the first person you see when you enter the establishment and sets the tone for the whole visit. Put someone pleasant in his place and people might not feel like a bother by walking in. Especially seeing as its not a cheap meal.

Food was good. Didnt like how you have to pay everything separate. Theres no meal combo on their menu. Make it a bit pricey! The serving sizes are small for the side items.Response to owner comment :And the way the owner repsond to the same problem about how you can choose how many sides according to liking( how much you like to eat/ how much money you have) is not listening to the customers. I read over 10! Not going to address the bad comment about men eat more than women. Maybe you should change something about the sides or train your staff that giving a tablespoon of a side is not worth $2.50. We had barbeque at two places this weekend ( we dont live in Belton) and the portion of the sides here is RIDICULOUS! No other barbeque place gave us portion sizes like were feeding a toddler. An according to your response we wont be back!!!!

Excellent brisket, always juicy and tender. However, I wish that they had a little larger containers for their sides. To me I feel that they should either use bigger containers or charge a little less. Dont get me wrong, their side items are delicious but they charge way too much for such small portions.

The brisket was good along with the sausage. You will regret not getting banana pudding if you pass it up. Plenty of seating and really good quality food. I will definitely return.
