So many great early electrical inventions to see here. Very impressive lineup of some of the greatest inventions to influence our way of life today. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly.Loved the Tesla coil show. Appreciated the world war 2 hand crafted trench radio. The ingenuity is impressive.Great place to stop by and give your kids a taste of innovation and support small businesses. Even during this current covid climate as it was not crowded and well spaced out with plenty of sanitary products available.
This is a great museum! It was incredibly interesting to learn the intricacies of many innovations throughout different electric eras. The interactive exhibits are fun and allow you to play around while gaining a rudimentary understanding of how it works. We didnt have the opportunity to see the show but hopefully well get the chance when we come back. If youre looking for a stellar guide, seek Ken out!
Great museum that had all kinds of information from when electricity first started all the way up to where the television was invented. There is lots of interactive exhibits and demonstrations. The employees were very friendly and informative as well. Definitely coming back in the future!
This museum have a lot of rare item and that you will never think of. And give you more understanding about the history in front of you rather than read on book or internet. The museum is not very big, but you do need take time to read through all the equipments because is very interesting. They have a early portable communication system that need to carry on the car and that is cell phone we call it right now. And also have some musical instruments require use your hand movement to create music with out touch.
This place is absolutely amazing. The amount of history in one space is unbelievable. The shows are super fun also. I feel the value for the price of admission is more than fair. In fact, I believe they should raise the entry fee to at least 3 times the price as there is so much involved, and so much history / information.
I went here when I was elementary school age. Now I am high school student and Im in Korea, but I cant forget SPARK museum. There were so many interesting items and staffs were nice. I keep SPARK stickers well. Thank you for my wonderful memory If I get a chance to go back to Bellingham, Ill definitely visit again.
What a neat place. As a traveling RV family we dont always find reasonable priced museums that are also fantastic. What an awesome collection of all things electric science related. The show is worth the extra $$ and the interactive nature of this place makes it a real gem! Even my teens really enjoyed this place
Kids had a blast and so did we. Lots of hands on exhibits as well as an upstarts play area. Very kid friendly and staff was amazing! They did 2 demonstrations while we were there. Loved the lighting show! We had a wonderful time. Also very affordable.
This has to be one of the coolest museums Ive ever been to. So many original electrical inventions that shaped how we live today. The tech company I work for hosted the annual Christmas party here, and it was definitely the coolest Christmas party Ive experienced. From one of Thomas Edisons original light bulbs to numerous Tesla coils that produce indoor lighting upwards of four million volts, if you are a fan of science, inventions or learning, check out the Spark Museum. Saturdays and Sundays have cool shows in the afternoon!
You will see things you have never seen before here
Excellent place, a gem hidden in the town. You can learn so much about the history of electricity and see the real stuffs as the developments advance. Very friendly and helpful staff too. Jim is the volunteer we met. He is so knowledgeable and helpful that we really enjoy the visit. Suggest to budget at least two hours. Definitely will bring friends and family to visit again.
Awesome museum.Staff was really engaged and you could tell they liked what they do.Went to the spooky science bit and my 7 and 10 year old really enjoyed it.My two year old was a bit too young, but they say right on the door it isnt the best for toddlers, but we sat and read some of the books upstairs and tapped some messages on the Morse code machine and played on the theremin.Id go again without kids to read more about everything because theres a lot there!
Ive been to many many museums, this collection and its volunteers make this on my top 4 from across the nation. Definitely worth a visit, a must take for kids, especially on a Saturday when you can enter the cage of doom! There is plenty of hands on for you to do. Total must see and for a great price!
Interactive and extensive collection. Static area great with kids. Titanic area very cool.
I bring all visitors I can to this treasure in Bellingham! It is so much fun and science in one unique museum. Very much an interactive endeavor tuned to all ages. Based on two individuals’-radio and electric collections with some very rare and antique items. If you go at the right time - the MegaZapper demo show is a blast and worth the extra cost! Yes, we went in the Faraday cage and got zapped! One can survey the development of awareness of electricity as a force and also the development of radio technologies.
What a great and interesting find in my own back yard so to speak. Such a neat place to learn about the history of electricity, radios, telephones, etc. Definitely a must see for School age kiddos
Must see this place for sure! Lots of old electrical stuff, many interactive things that you and your kids can play with. Check the show schedule, its cool!
Truly a must see in Bellingham. This museum is fascinating. It has an incredible amount of objects, information, and demonstrations that not only show the history of electricity but also provide much education. Beautifully maintained and curated, with excellent and informative staff. Was lucky to attend a company party there and their live demo is amazing! Give yourself a couple hours to fully absorb the different galleries and enjoy the cage of doom. Ive been a couple times and still discover new things each time. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
This was a really great small museum. We took 4 kids here - ages 5-8 - and fun was had by all. We got lucky and happened to be there when a show was going on for summer camp. Usually the show is only on weekends. The docents are passionate and knowledgeable.
Very cool! Take your time and see and read everything.
Great destination for a field trip. Kept kids engaged and entertained.
Such a fun show plus so many great inventions throughout history. Lots to touch and try. Great friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend. My kids are 7 and 10 and they both loved the visit!
Surprisingly fun and different with interactive areas of learning to hearing and seeing an Edison play in front of you.
GUESS WHICH MOM GOT TO GO INTO THE CAGE OF DOOM?! This place is super cool.
So fun and shocking
Mindy (one of their volunteers) introduced me to Sparks. Its exciting and informative. If you are nervous around electricity then visit SPARKS; you will embrace electricity and find out new information about old facts that will be just awesome to know! (And I didnt even get to the wkend electric show!). Add this to your bucket list!!
This place is incredible. The sheer volume and diversity of exhibits is awesome. There are hands-on activities for kids to help explain the science/physics at work in electrical processes. Docents are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and personable. WELL worth the modest admission price. My recommendation would be to allow a couple hours to be able to absorb it all at a leisurely pace. Also worth noting: there is a helpful map organizing exhibits by a color-coded dot system I strongly recommend taking a peek at. It tells you which exhibits are the rarest -- some are among only a few of their kind in existence -- as well as additional classifying information.
We were from Taiwan and went to visit the museum on the way from Seattle back to Vancouver to take the airplane next day. Actually we did not plan this for this trip but we were all happy to stop by. Mark was a terrific guide and helped explained a lot regarding the artifacts. Definitely I recommend anyone to go and visit. I believe adults and children will all have fun. Say hello to Mark!
This is a world-class place to visit. Go. Bring the kids. If youre into technology, history, science or engineering youre going to absolutely love it.
Wow. What a crazy unique museum. Lots of different finds and inventions with so much to learn about it. Lots of hands on thing, would recommend.
Great place for kids. Small but plenty to see. I would have loved a souvenir store.
Great exhibits, many are fully interactive. Plan to spend some time, your visit surely will take more time than expected. If possible, time your visit to include the big Tesla coil show.
Worth every penny! My 4 year old and 8 year old had to be dragged out, they had so much fun!
Very cool. Very smart. The show is worth the ticket price. Lots of fun.
Love this place and they have updated the show, $12.00 is pretty reasonable for an hour show about science..... SCIENCE RULES B#@$&
Great museum full of interesting electrical artefacts. As an engineer I do understand much of the technology, however I do feel more information is required to explain the in depth of much of the museum. I often felt I was simply looking at an old piece of technology and had no idea of its significance. The titanic section was fascinating, and the staff are very helpful.
Terrific way to spend the afternoon. You can tell the staff love their jobs and are really excited to explain things and entertain you.
Wonderful museum of historic electric and electronic devices. Everything from medical to media. Highly recommended. Kid friendly. Wonderful guides.
They have hands on electrostatic demos, tons of cool old tubes, motors, radios, and more. Docents are friendly and full of knowledge. The show is pretty fun too. This place is great for kids and adults alike.
Super cool museum with lots of interactive elements. I hear that they do demonstrations on the weekends. My friend got married here are there are some awesome photos inside the faraday cage.
Really cool museum. Definitely see the Megazapper electrical show!
The mega zapper show is so cool! My nephews loved it!
Been here a few times and always have fun! Great people and if you are able to, check out the Tesla show!
Exhibits on the history of electricity, with many authentic scientific instruments. If you can, catch a demonstration in the auditorium; sparks fly! The staff is enthusiastic. Id like to go again and have a scientist explain more about the apparatus and electromagnetism. Probably no other museum in the world with a comparable collection!
Best Museum ever but than Im kind of an electrical nut
Field trip was amazing, kids learn and have fun with different types of electricity. They pick multiple volunteers.
A great museum to check out while in Bellingham. Pretty cool devices and historical items. Knocked off play the theremin off my bucketlist.
They have a truly incredible collection of cool electrical stuff, history, experiments to play with and entertaining lessons for kids! They even have a theremin to play with along side the original theremin from 1929! The staff is very friendly and we ended up taking to a fellow about all sorts things and curiosities around the museum.
What a cool place! Really good stuff for everyone.
This is a great museum. I learned so much about electricity and its history.
If you like anything about power, electric energy and especially the history of communication you will love SPARK.
Great time for the family! Staff keen to share and explain the exhibits.
Amazing! Def stay for the Mega zapper show- so worth the extra $4!!
Charming museum filled with objects whose history I wish I understood fully. The Cage of Doom & Electricty Show were entertaining, though a bit pedestrian.
Very interesting but could use more labeling. There was brief demonstration of the Tesla coil, which was very interesting. Wouldnt recommend for children under 8. It was priced very reasonably.
An absolutely amazing collection of radio, electronics, and vintage recording gear.
Fun place for the geeks of this world. Lots of historical gadgets, all electronic in nature. Exciting electricity show daily.
Better than I expected!
Beatiful examples of antique electronics and high voltage electrical gadgets

Amazing place with so much history its astonishing for a relatively small building. Interactive exhibits were a lot of fun and one of the guides gave us great explanations that increased our knowledge. Definitely a good stop to at least see the massive collection.
So much awesome history. You should not miss visiting this place if you travel to Bellingham. They have the best collection of electrical historic inventions in the world!
GREAT. Indulge your inner nerd. Show is not to be missed.
This museum takes science and history and makes it shockingly fun! Dont miss the electrical show every weekend featuring a 9-foot Tesla Coil and 4-million volts of electricity aimed at a human in a cage! Also see light bulbs made by Thomas Edison, the original telephone by Alexander Graham Bell, an exhibit about Benjamin Franklin and so much more!
If you can stay for the show it is worth it!! He makes a Tesela coil SING!! This place is amazing!!
Intriguing place with delightful docents who captivate you with their enthusiasm and knowledge
I really enjoyed going to the SPARK Museum as it was such an enjoyable experience. When I first walked in there was a timeline about how electricity started and some of the science behind it. I also got some review of the science of atoms and as well as hands on experiences with understanding on how electricity works. Later they had a show that was very interactive and enjoyable. There were some need to see attractions during the show that I would recommend. There was also a lot of antique artifacts there for people that enjoy history. I was given an opportunity to learn about the different machines that offered music in the last two centuries. The people there were also very knowledgeable and social with the attendees. One of the interns there was very informed on everything and wasnt afraid to show me as well as some other young adults some of the inventions he was interested in and gave very detailed explanations on how to use them the same intern also explained the sound machines of the 1880-1920s with great detail and kept it interactive. I would recommend this museum to anyone with a interest in STEM or history as well as an interest in learning. I would also love to come back again with some friends as well.
Really cool place with alot of history and really cool people.
Amazing museum with equally amazing staff. You can an almomst immediately tell that the people here love this stuff. Their heart is really in it. They seemed equally at home explaining the demos to my 7year old, my 15 year old or myself. I will definitely be back if we are in the area again.
Awesome experience!!! One of the staff who talked to us was obviously very knowledgeable about the things in the museum, and even demonstrated things to us right there! He was also quite nice to a child, and was overall very friendly. Turned out he did the demonstration for that day too! Even if you arent interested in anything else in that museum, definitely go for the demonstration. No spoilers, but the instrument they play at the end is 100% not meant to be an instrument and that is why it is so amazing.
Some of the artifacts belong in the Smithsonian. World class Tesla coil. Friendly helpful staff.
This is a fun place on your own or with the family. There is a lot of history and learning offered here. There are even some hands on experiments you can try. The staff are knowledgeable and ready to answer question you may have. Well worth the price of admission.
We had a GREAT time at the spark museum. We especially enjoyed the presentation of the tesla coil. AWESOME!!! Thanks!
It was great! So cool
This museum has a lot of old devices & replicas of devices related to electricity & phone going back to initial discoveries by scientist of electrical properties. Also good section on early stages of wireless communication & telegraphs. Covers early days of radio & TV also. A moderate number of interactive displays. They have a 20+ minute program demonstrating various electrical properties on some days. I heard several visitors speak positively of this, but I did not get to attend. My wife found it only moderately interesting. Those who have strong interest in science hx or science will be the happiest with tour. Also outstanding if you like seeing old devices. Very limited coverage of cell phones & more recent technology.
Great place. Educational and fun
Awesome place, make sure you stay for the demonstration.
Amazing! Interesting, interactive and engaging. Make sure to give yourself enough time to see EVERYTHING. I quickly realized I would need an annual family pass. (They credited the cost of the initial visit toward the annual pass.) SUPERB!
Fun place to go. Good for ages about 4and up. Science world in Vancouver is better except for the spark show on the weekends at 230. You cant take any food or drinks inside. Price was reasonable
We came here on a school field trip. The show put on was AMAZING!!! So interesting and informative. This is a FANTASTIC museum! Cant wait to come again
Really interesting place to learn about electricity.
A gem of a museum. A treasure trove of gadgets and information with lots of demonstrations and hand-ons. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, especially Ken. The owner is a radio buff, and knows how to operate all of the gadgets in his collection. The 15 min show is pretty interesting, showcasing electrical light and sound tricks. Plan for 2 hours especially if u take the tour with a docent. If u have kids go with Ken, he kept my 6 years old daughter mesmerized for 1 hour.
Super fun, and very educational. Highly recommend the love demonstration. They out you in a cage and electrocute the cage with a high powered Tesla Coil.
Amazing show
Lots of genuine historical and recreated exhibits of electrical ecperimentation, discovery, and invention, including quite a few rare items. Many hands-on demonstrations. Bigger than it appears. Activity room upstairs, stage demos on weekends?
Great museum! Great for the family and whoever, also a bit engaging with a Morse code machine and a few other things. Definitely something to add to your bucket list
Was great would recommend highly to anyone. Loved it.
We went to Spark Museum a couple of days ago and found it extremely interesting. A nice fellow guided us through and gave an interesting tutorial as we walked through. There are a lot of hands on displays as well as devices from years past. Well worth the visit.
Its a truely amazing museum, it had a fine collection of antique electronics and provides great information about the histories of electronics. The best part was the tesla coil demonstration! Many Canadians would just go to the Belis Fair for shopping, but most of them forgot to visit this amazing museum.
It takes way more than 2 hours to go through this place. Its incredible. The people are very knowledgeable. The special show is way worth the price!
Extremely cool and entertaining museum with cool devices from the early days of electricity and you can even get put in a cage and shocked with a GIANT bolt of electricity
Very realistic vintage items to view. Engaging and some hands on items. Worth the time and a trip into downtown Bham.
Great show!
We had a bit of time to kill in Bellingham and decided to explore this wonderful gem of a museum in downtown Bellingham. It has an amazing array of electrical gadgets and history and we spent a couple of hours exploring it all. Alas, we were not there when they were doing their electric show but the docents were well versed in their subject and a font of knowledge.
Very cool displays of chemical reactions! Fascinating!
Great Megazapper show also.
This a super well run Museum. The displays are georgious, well lit & labeled, sound quality of the naritives is clear & loud just enough. Spotless clean, wheelchair accessible main floor and bathrooms. Docents are super friendly, patient with kids and those adults too) interacting with the kids and parents beautifully. The equipment and such on display is amazing. My brother and I giddy with joy seeing things that we know about or have used (yeah, Im old as dirt) we did not time it right to see the big show, but it sounded great with the audience reacting loudly and obviously enjoyed it. You can hear it setting off bursts of power as you walk the main displays. We will be back for sure.
