This was a nice little stop on our road trip. I just expected to see a marker and maybe a plaque talking about the place, there was also a little house and a museum there too. The house was nice because we got to see how people lived with the old fashioned stove, iron, washboard, etc. It is also very small compared to many houses today. The museum had a variety of artifacts from fossils to pianos, typewriters, phones, and clocks. I wish we would have gotten there earlier to fully explore the place! They also had activities for kids and interactive displays that you could pick up to look at!
Nice place to get out of the car for some fresh air and short walk. well kept and interesting. you have to do your own research for the details of its claim of center.
This is a hidden gem. With a beautifully landscaped outdoor walking area and a clean interior, the geographic center is small but delightful. Inside is a gift shop and frontier museum that is well maintained. The staff is friendly. The restrooms were clean. We went to Devils Tower first thing in the morning, spent half the day, and then went to the Geographical City on the way back. If you are close, I recommend making the short stop just to say you stood at the center of the US!
Awesome little place to stop. Technically not the center as it is further up on private land and they will happily give you directions. Check out the cabin while your here!
It was a nice stop. They have clean bathrooms and a gift shop. While youd expect the USA center in Kansas, taking into consideration of Alaska and Hawaii, the USA center is here. The geographical center of the United States is a good photo opportunity and they have a neat center seal you can stand on and take photos. The grounds are well kept. Parking was designed well with spots for R.V.s and trucks work trailers. They have an old building and wagon on display on the grounds for viewing.
Wonderful museum. Nice people
Really nice and well maintained park. A bit bummed that the monument itself was no lit after dark. Odd that other items in park were lit, but the main one was not. Its my fault for lollygagging and not making it during day time. Great, quick stop nonetheless.
This is a very nice monument. It would just be nice if there was something blocking the traffic from the background.
This was such a fun thing to find while driving through South Dakota. The museum was so fun and interactive. My kids absolutely loved it! Even my 15 year old!
Great to say u were at the replica vistors center but the drive to the actual center is INTERESTING in that it is in the middle of NOTHING. Great for a photo memory.
Great 18 hole disc golf course along the river walk.
The marker for the geographic center of the United States is about what you expect. A marker. There were a lot of state flags around it. Possibly all 50? We didn’t really count and we don’t know most of the state flags… So let that be a challenge to you!Now if all you see is the marker, you’re really missing out. Nearby is a cabin… The stairs are very narrow, but otherwise the interior is surprisingly roomy for the first cabin in that area. A very polite staff person in the building and a buffalo horn coat rack. But the highlight of the whole place is the museum. Go to the museum. Saddles, saddle struck by lightning, saddles a famous people, saddles that were on horses, Saddles that were 100 years old…Also, antique firearms, the first piano ever, the medical kits that doctors used from 100 years ago with all the pills and drugs and tinctures still inside and on display. Note: These prescriptions are probably past their expiration date.A whole bunch of other stuff that I forgot now, but I think was really cool. Just lots and lots of stuff. Seriously, see the museum! It’s great! Our friend Sean didn’t come in, and he regrets it. Really really regrets it. And on the way out, throw in a few bucks to the donation box! I mean, come on! Everything else is free. Chip in a little bit, you know? Geez. Have a heart.
Very interesting, small museum. Free to the public. And very interesting that the center of our nation is now in South Dakota. doesnt seem like it should be, until you remember that we have Alaska and Hawaii as well.
Interesting for a quick stop. Has an old fashioned home to look through if you are curious for how things used to be.
Dont like snakes, but this is so much more loved the garden the giant tortas
Bucket list item well worth the trip - add Custer State Park as an unexpected big plus!
Loved stopping here! Very kid friendly and offered a cool learning craft about clouds. Kept the kids busy as we continued our journey. The volunteers were knowledgeable about the area and recommend a great place to eat.
Nice little monument and museum. Good place to stop if you are heading this way. Friendly staff and really cool. All for free.
Great little museum that is free will donation. Very nice memorials to our veterans.
Beautiful visitor center - should definitely visit the actual center of the nation in the pasture too though
This small, free museum was fun to see. It has a good description of the local sugar beet industry in addition to a beautiful and clean monument behind the building.
Clean Quiet Rest stop with great stuff to see and hear about
This place was alittle underwhelming but its still a cool thing to visit while passing by
Quite cool! Great display, nice walk there with all the flags...well done.
Really calm, peaceful. Not a whole lot going on but worth a visit if your in town.
What a fun surprise! We had no idea this was in South Dakota, it was a cool sight to see that we were not expecting. If you are road tripping through, for some reason, it’s definitely a place to stop and see. I’m assuming not that many people can say that they have been to the geographic center of the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), it is something you could check off your bucket list!
Wonderful family fun days every month admission only $2
For what it is it was cool. Nothing really to do here. But its fun to say you were at the center of the nation
Who would guess that the Center of the USA is located in South Dakota. You can take a beautiful canyon drive and see the bridal Vail Falls, where Im sure there has been more than one proposal to marriage at this location. Enjoy the pics.
Definitely not worth going all the way for, but I could stop if it is on the way. A great free museum that sells lots about the local history
Was actually a fun little museum. Defintely recommend making a quick stop there
Located in a peaceful and beautiful spot thats easily accessible, this is a quick stop but well worth it.
Super cool spot. Nice visitor center and river walk
It is also a national war memorial very clean the center of the nation is very cool
Terrific museum and gift shop - plan to spend some time here. Its worth the drive and your time. Nice grounds for a picnic, and even an old log cabin you can check out.
Very good visitor’s center with a great museum.
Really nice and an interesting spot. Can be a quick stop on your way through town.
Stop by and see the center of the US. But of course this is just the monument. The real center is about 20 miles away down a dirt road but for those on 2 wheels this will do just fine
Its the center of the nation and there is tri-state museum and there is lot to learn about blue hills history.
Interesting place to stop at. Its not a lot to see & you could look around in about an hours time.
Random stop on our way to Devils Tower...who knew!! Fun and informative, free to enter.
Cool roadside site, includes a large marker and flag garden. Attached to the site is a historical cabin, and a museum.
Nice memorials but was closed due to COVID.
Nice monument, but the accompanying museum is even better. They have kids activities and great information about varied topics from prohibition to western doctors to dinosaurs. Staff is helpful and knowledable.
Beautiful area, enjoy the museum, and friendly staff.
We enjoyed our visit there very nice museum everyone was very helpful and friendly .we bought tickets for the july 4th rodeo
Neat place. Needs more people helping inside.
Very interesting geographical spot! Be sure to visit the near by Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Visitors Center and local history museum. All beautifully maintained and displayed!
Cool place, worth a visit if you are in the area
It is an awsome museum of this town. From the earth formations of the area to present daily living. You will not be disappointed!
Nice musame also at the location. We enjoyed out visit
Nice granite monument in a nice park
The town of Belle Fourche days its the geographic center of the USA (including Hawaii and Alaska) but its actually about 18 miles outside is town in the middle of a farmers field. Worth the extra drive.
Nice museum! Were glad we stopped.
Nice little park with a nice walking path
Saw a post about this place on FB and since I was in Sturgis I visited. Liked it better than 4 Corners. Nice and green and facility was well maintained.
Cool thing to see
Pretty cool if youre into that kind of thing
Not only can you see the center here, they have a pleasant museum with quite an assortment of suprises from dinosaur bones to wild west gear to musical instruments from the 1800s.
Great place lots of interesting historical information
Great place to visit, and get a little history in the process.
To me it was worth the drive to see the expansive prairie. Mind you it is 8 miles off rt. 385 on a dirt road. Be sure to clock the miles when you get off the highway, or you will go by it and have to turn around. Most people wont it is worth it, but Id you key your mind go you can see the plains as they once were.
What a cool place.
A quick visit to see some cool monuments. Very good to the town for the monuments to their veterans.
Neat historical place to go to and learn some of Belle Fourche and South Dakota history. There is a nice walking path close by either the creek running by. It appears to be a nice place to sit back and enjoy nature. The staff in the office/museum are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this out of place historical site.
Great little museumWe enjoyed our stopover
Not much there. But interesting
Nice side attraction on our way west on motorcycles!
Great place to visited if your inarea.
Very informative museum that was fun to look around and touch
Pretty cool place lots of history
Awesome little museum with lots of historical artifacts and of course the geographic center of the US. Has flags of the states but they are in need of replacing. They run off of donations, keep this in mind while enjoying the free admission.
Great landmark with lots of info.
This is a great Quick Stop very well ran the people here are very friendly something you dont see everyday
Also has a very interesting Museum.
This was an easy quick photo op on a road trip. The museum was close, but the actual memorial is out in public. Easy to get to. Got gas across the street and I was on my way!
Nice to be out of the car and see beauty.
Nice little town, nice memorials for service members, and a cute little museum. It may not be a destination, but if youre in the area, its worth stopping by, and checking things out.
The geographic center of the nation museum and disc golf park is one of my favorite places to go in this beautiful little town. The disc golf course is beautiful and challenging and the Belle fourche river runs right through it making it even more spectacular. They need to maintain the grounds a little better and consider making it 18 holes rather than just 9 because there is ample land and it is rapidly becoming a hot spot for disc golfers from all over the state. The restrooms at the museum are super clean and the employees are knowledge and helpful with any travel inquiries. 5 stars
Be sure to go behind the vistor center to see the actual center. Not the plaque in front of the building.
Cool just to say you where there
Good museum
Interesting, tells you the actual center of the nation when it was moved from Kansas!!
Good stop for any geography enthusiasts. Adjacent building is a good travel center with information for the surrounding area.
Wonderful place with wonderful people in a wonder ful town.
GoodNiceYouShould go
Love my home town!!
Cool stop off.
The in town park is nice, but part of the experience is being at the actual center of the US. It takes a few minutes of dirt road driving, but the landscape is beautiful.
Pretty neat stop.
