The lady in gift shop was super attentive and helpful. It is a very neat and well organized place. The replicas of those days buildings in Gladys City look very authentic. The interior and furnishings in the rooms are absolutely bringing you in that time. I wish they had some kind of sound effects surround so you could feel the time reversing moment even deeper.
Its a beautiful setting with two Pokemon gyms and 4 pokestops. Im looking forward to one day going inside. --Dee
During covid 19. Place was so clean, preconstruction was taken to the full extent. Hand cleaning stations at every building. It was very interesting for someone who works in the field of oil and gas . My children had fun playing the scavenger hunt that was provided. The front office lady was the nicest person on the world.. nothing but good things here.. would love to come back when the shows come back on.
We had such a fun time here. The lady at the desk was so sweet and so, so informative. She even helped us figure out how to get to the actual site, which was only a few minutes away, after we visited the museum. There are quite a few actual artifacts from that time, which was very interesting and fun to see. We definitely recommend!
Love this place, friendly staff, and easy and fun walk thru with great history lesson. Hand sanitizer thru out museum. Kids really enjoyed it, we hope to be back for there festival.
Amazing little place. If you are in the area stop by and see this place. Its worth the small price. We loved it. I took the whole family on our way through. The store inside has some really cool and amazing bottled goodies. I got some dip and pickles. The town is set up just like a boom town. Great staff and the place was clean. Good fun for the whole family.
This was listed as one of the top things to do in Beaumont. There are other things that I would suggest doing especially if you have children.
Awesome place, lots of history. Thank you Ms Maggie we had a GREAT time.
Oil and Gas History!! I really enjoyed stopping here on my way home from Texas to Louisiana, I cant give them 5 stars because they charge a fee to enter the museum, which is fine... but you cant even enter the gift shop unless you pay to enter the museum. Also, this is not the actual original location of the gusher, this museum had to be built in an alternate location so the monument wouldnt sink. Its still really neat to see if you are interested in the history of the oil and gas industry.Update: Upon receiving response from the museum to clarify the gift shop issue (which I sincerely appreciate when a business takes the time to address concerns) I am changing my review from a 4 star up to a 5. As a former landman and an oil and gas title analyst I really appreciate when history like this is preserved. And as you can see, its quite fun for the littles as well, mine was 3 and had a blast. Next trip we would be glad to gain entry into the museum and contribute to the Spindletop Museum.Lauren Jackson, Google Tier 5 Local Guide
Fun old-timey and educational buildings to explore and a very nice gift shop. The people working were very nice and knowledgeable. Clean restrooms and a ton of hand sanitizer dispensers around the grounds.
Great place to enjoy a special outdoors event !
Really awesome place my son loved it and going into all the buildings
Loved this historic and iconic location very much.
Love the old town tableau of museums. Can see what life was like.
A step back in time. Very interesting for the family of all ages.
Fun to step back into history. Stand in the post office and imagine a life without air conditioning!!
This museum was very nice to visit. My father and I went and we ended up spending way more time there then we thought we would. They have a model of an old boomtown city and it was really cool to actually walk into the buildings and read the history. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend if youre looking for something inexpensive and fun to do in Beaumont.
Great place to go see how the big oil boom helped create the area and attracted the masses. The town is set up as a replica, with many of the artifacts used from the era. Super fun to go thru each bldg and get an idea of how quick civilization can spring up and excel in a swift time frame when The Black Gold Rush made southeast Texas a rich Haven of wildcatter millionaires and a sad amount of busted dreamers...it encourages the once lively, entrepreneurial spirit that captivated the American dream at a time that the Industrial Revolution moved in to accommodate the Rushers families. It was a time for modernization and the need for invention for the conveniences that we use today. My teenage son loves to make a trip out to Gladys City at least once a year after his fascination trip as a child introduced him to our wonderful oil and gas sector.
I was attending a baby shower. The place was so nice and the staff was extremely nice. Highly recommend the banquet hall and checking out the museum. We got to see the gusher!
Great history lesson for the kids. Businesses from the 19th century in an interactive format. When we arrived, a great band played in the saloon. Had a great discussion in the print shop about the linotype machine.
Pretty cool place to get a look into the past. The gift shop is worth the trip alone.
Neat place to visit, once. They do not set the Gusher off unless they have a tour booked.
Really cool place. And the lady in the museum was Wonderful its a must see
There is a black smith that actually does black smithing there while you watch. A good place for an old trade. He also does lessons.
Stretch your legs and step back in time.
Small easy to walk through replica or an old oil town.
Great weather. Make sure you watch the short film. Many like to view the gusher out front at eleven am on Saturday.
Great movie and gift shop. Nice people
This museum is a treasure for Beaumont! The displays give visitors such a great glimpse into the past, and it is so well-run.
This is a true gem of an historical experience. We chose it because it was on the route of our road trip. So glad we found it. Learned alot & gave the kids a real sense of life in a boomtown.
We met in the saloon for an old fashioned Bible study. What better place to get filled with the Spirit.
Amazing place, history, team of people!
Great place to learn about the oil industry!!!Quiet place to visit and enjoy the old town recreation.
Great place to lear more of the oil boom.
Great watching the geyser blow! Nice collection of buildings and artifacts. Very pleasant staff. Must see for kids to see history of our state.
Loved the old buildings plus the story behind Spindletop was very interesting.
Great exhibits showing the start of the oil boom in Texas
This is a hidden gem! Awesome place to take kids and adults of all ages!
If you go during summer time and you are lucky to see how the spindletop works. They recreate how the oil gushed out. It is a very interesting place to visit, young and old can benefit from the visit. It is definitely worth visiting.
Small & interesting. great family quick tour
Its great seeing history, being able to walk thru it to.
Awesome place if you love history or the Wild West!...It feels like youre walking back in time. We were fortunate enough to go when tours were running and the blacksmith was in operation and Spindletop was shot off. Apparently all of that is not done everyday so you may want to call and check. There were field trips from local schools there so we got to see all that. Really cool...lots of Old Western type artifacts, antiques, souvenirs, bottles and printing/sewing machines/materials Etc
Guide was the BEST!! Lots of fun. Be prepared to walk a lot & climb stairs but well worth the drive.
Good way to spend a couple of hours of youre into history, oil, or a combo of the 2.
Very cool history place to visit great pit stop when you drive by easy to get to
Loved it
Great place
Good 119 years ago event
Took our 5th graders on a field trip here. They loved it, especially seeing the geyser
Fantastic place. The staff there were very helpful. They hosted our annual Field Day event this year and were very helpful. Our club, Beaumont Amateur Radio Club occupied the place from Saturday Morning, June 25 to Sunday afternoon, June 26th. We would like to send them a BIG thanks for helping. I would highly recommend visiting the museum.
I had a blast. I would like to go back ASAP
This is a nice look at the past. It is in a bit of disrepair, but it is mostly wood in a hot and humid environment. Good place to take your kids. I would say you can see most of the place in about 2 hours.
Excellent place to visit. Cashier was nice. Walking into each of the buildings felt like I was stepping back into time. We spent about 2 hours which is considered a typical time.
Troy is very helpful and the gusher is always a favorite for my students!
A leader in helping locals and visitors understand and appreciate our unique Golden Triangle history.
Wonderfully authentic re-creation of a turn-of-the-century Boomtown. So much history to take in.
We went there to kill some time and really enjoyed our time there. Kids can do a scavenger hunt and check off objects at each location. Also, they have a blacksmith on site that teaches classes and is just plain interesting to talk to.
Neat place to visit I was lucky enough to go when they did the gusher. Was a fun day with the family
Great fun. Many interesting
Very interesting place
Such a Great way to learn the History of the area as well as the industry that literally changed the entire world !
Interesting for what it is. Has a replica of the first big oil gusher in Texas which was Spindletop. Has a small town complete with some old oil drilling equipment etc. I enjoyed this place. However the sight of the real Spindltop is a mile or two away and difficult to find. Are they trying to hide it? We were told it was near a trailer park and marked by a flag. I dont think we ever found the real Spindletop.
Such a nice place to visit and get some knowledge about the booming of oil back in the day
Great way to experience the early days of Beaumont..
Lot of facts. 15 buildings
Fun place to host an event! Great place to see our local history. Troy is very pleasant to work with!
Interesting topic of the first oil well find and how the city lived back in the day, buildings and memorabilia.
Super educational field trip.
A Nice small town museum. Worth a stop if you are in the area.
Very good place with a museum built into a 1900s-style Boomtown. Good for a lazy Saturday.
A great museum based in an early 1900s-style square with lots of info. Would visit again.
It is the best museum on Beaumont.. Teach the history of Boomtown and give you a taste of the old days
