The museum is an awesome collection with amazing special exhibits. I am always moved during each visit.
It was a beautiful museum. The building is just beautiful. The stones and the beads on the building was astonishingly beautiful on the building. They give an hour tour everyday. It was educational. Pictures and artefacts along with clothing was exhibited. I did learn new things. I just wish that they had more things to see along with more educational information about the Holocaust. But in due, time I guess. I added a couple of pictures that really caught my eye.
Very nicely done. There was a booklet scavenger hunt to engage kids 8+ in the Leonard Bernstein special exhibit. And the regular exhibit had nice kid oriented interactive stuff as well. The Holocaust stuff is in a labelled room at the back so you can control your engagement with it. I was impressed.
Really appreciated the Bernstein exhibit, nice balance of artifacts and videos. Loved the Jewish artifacts w some magnificent embroidery. Will visit again for history section. Very friendly, helpful staff.
The Maltz Museum is a Cleveland treasure. Especially for a city with such a strong connection to the Jewish diaspora, it is important to tell their story from their own perspective. Furthermore, the Maltz Museums support of human rights causes, issues, and stories is great.
Have seen plays in Yiddish there that r well done. Good exhibits. Café on 2nd floor makes a decent lox bagel sandwich.
Fascinating exhibit on Leonardo Bernstein. Imaginative and with lots of his music. Plan to spend at least an hour and a half with the videos and documents.
We went to the special exhibit about Leonard Bernstein on Saturday. It was excellent, with many pictures, videos and artifacts about him and his life. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
This is a great museum. It can bee seen in an afternoon. The temporary exhibits are amazing (currently about Leonard Bernstein, until March 1, 2020). The permanent exhibit about the Amaerican/Cleveland Jewish community is great (it could use a little updating but holds up well.) Then there is the Temple-Tifereth Israel Gallery with Jewish items collected from around the world.
It was for a school trip so I only liked it because I got no school
A very modern museum offering a variety of exhibits and activities. Although this was my first visit, I anticipate I will return for a special exhibit, or if they significantly update their main galleries and collection. Spent two hours there to walk through all of the museum but didnt watch the movie (which currently runs for 45 minutes.) Also had a very nice activity area for children.
The Maltz Museum of Jewish History is phenomenal! Truly worth the price of admission for all that it offers. In addition to displays that can be read and studied at ones leisure, there are several video displays that run on a loop and can be watched when one arrives. The history focuses on Jewish people as a whole and those who made a positive influence in the Cleveland area. The ancient artifacts in the wing devoted to Judaism are of the quality I would expect to see in a museum in New York or even Israel! Give yourself a day to go over everything and be prepared to be awed. We were greeted with kindness the moment we arrived, and any questions we had were met with friendliness in the answers. I cant wait to go back.
I was only at the gift shop this trip, but I found what I was looking for! They were very helpful and pleasant! Mission accomplished!
Wonderful Museum with great history displays. Loved the experience.
That was nice of the Jewish community to give back to people in need. Except they can out of watermelons. Other than that good people and a nice landscape of the facility.
Im not Jewish, but I was very intrigued with their culture and there lifestyle was very similar how I was raised as an christians
We had a great experience. The permanent exhibit on Cleveland was fascinating. All residents of Cleveland should check it out. The exhibits with artwork was also interesting to see. This is a good place to spend an afternoon, especially if you enjoy history.
Was really fun, we got to listen to a Holocaust survivor speak and hear her story. Our tour guide was also pretty cool.
Visiting this beautiful museum is not only for Jewish people but for anyone interested in the history of Cleveland, andthe role of Jews and other immigrants in its history.
Very informative. Friendly and helpful staff. Allow a minimum of 2 hours.
We had and outstanding experience viewing the Bernstein exhibition at the Maltz Museum.
What a wonderful display of history. Enjoyable and moving.
A beautiful place! Friendly staff, helpful and knowledgeable!!! So interesting
Visited on MLK Day today. Plenty of volunteers to provide assistance if you needed it. Well lit areas. Nice open spaces. Nicely produced short films. All around top shelf museum. Will visit again. Some much to read and see. Especially like the time line displays.
Leonard Bernstein exhibit is excellent.
Great place to learn about Jewish history and religion. 3 separate displays. One for artwork and religious articles. One has the history of the Jewish people. The third is special exhibits that change regularly.
Interesting building and permanent displays. I attended an exhibit on Modern Israel with a docent tour. Great graphics. But terribly slanted approach to the Palestinian people. My review is for the museum as a whole despite the disappointing display and interpretation.
Very good Leonard Bernstein tour.
Great place to learn about the Jewish community.
Great exhibits! Came for the Violins of Hope, and explored a little in the permanent exhibits as well. Very nice collection, with the price of admission. Violins of Hope were very nice, with really touching stories. It is hard to see how little the world has changed and how quickly we forget what happens when we start seeing our fellow humans as other.
Informative. Can spend alot of time here. Not just for people of the Jewish faith.
Really interesting exhibits that frequently change to keep the museum new and fresh.
A must visit..whether you are a Jew or gentile...white, black, or purple. Amazing exhibits!
It was a little crowded but nice.
Love this museum full of Jewish history. Many intriguing items.
Exhibits interesting and kid friendly too. Also research ahead of time for kid friendly events that they sponsor from time to time.
Wonderful and ultra informative !!
I have to come here for a class project. I was worried about going to a Jewish museum with no Jewish background. Everyone was so nice and welcoming! I learned so much! The attractions were interactive and engaging!
In one word... Knowledgeable.
Nicely put together Jewish history, Holocaust events, exhibits. Tour guide available.
Efficient and the people were nice.
Very interesting museum. Good docents.
I went to the new temporary Jews in medicine exhibit. It was interesting and had a lot info from the Mt. Sinai hospital as well as Jewish medical contributions through the ages.
Very well layed out.
Fantastic exhibits!
Fabulous history museum, lots to learn about the history of the Jews in Cleveland. Nicely laid out. Childrens traveling exhibition great.
Beautifully curated museum with knowledgeable docents. Always enjoy the traveling exhibits!
An amazing experience! I learned so much. The guides were helpful and the place wasnt too crowded!!!
Very interesting and educational.
Excellent Jewish museum. Holagram of a survivor that will answer your questions
Great place to go for education, diversity and acceptance.
The Maltz Museum is a museum that is very much needed. It serves a great memorial to the people of the Holocaust, and honestly I will never forget how I was impacted by what I experienced there. Warning: in one room, there are videos of the rescues from concentration camps and they are quite graphic. The museum isnt just holocaust specific, and the rest of the stuff is perhaps interesting to some, but not to me. Also, some of the gift shop kind of cheapens the experience. Great place to learn though. And it is active in the community.
Their temporary exhibit was great. Something to learn every time. Great heart in a general center of surrounding anti-Semitism.
A gem! Extremely informative without being preachy..
An inspiring remembrance.
Such rich history! Did a tour for my Diversity and Inclusion class....History so similar to that of Black people....we are more alike than different!
Fine collection of Judaica. Exhibits lead the viewer through telling background and facts
Great Place
Magnificent experience!!!
Small, beautiful Jewish museum with special Holocaust education programs.
Very informative, but too cost prohibitive for the general public to truly benefit. The Huntington family made the art museum free and they didnt even require their name carved into the side in stone.
Absolutely outstanding! A must see in the Cleveland area! Treat yourself!
Outstanding Museum. This is definitely one of the best museums in the world to not only learn about Jewish culture, but also about racism. Zay gezunt!
It was so fun. They are so nice. It was an amazing learning expierience.
Great art and their traveling displays are usually top notch.
A well-thought out and breathtaking museum. Very underrated and worth the visit
This is a great museum, cant wait to go again!
