First time at this course. IMO, The course fairways, tee boxes, and greens were all in great condition. Challenging, fun course. Ability to stretch out if you can hit the long ball. Management was great and beer cart ladies were respectful of game play and polite.Downsides were only aesthetic. Clubhouse is outdated, areas of the asphalt paths were extremely bumpy. Especially under the pines located in the center of the course where tree roots are pushing the asphalt up. Lots of geese around the water holes. Some of the brick and railroad tie steps up to tee boxes were crumbling or rotted out.Overall a great 18 hole experience.
First time here. Well kept greens, fairways were a little wet in some areas, would definitely be going back. Price is well worth the course. Would like to see better range balls, but for $3 a bucket it also was well worth it. I see myself becoming a regular here.
Course conditioning has definitely improved over the past few years. A couple of greens and approaches were in rough shape but overall the course is well kept. And thats on top of one of the best designs/layouts in the entire state!
THE MARYWOOD GOLF CLUB IS STARTING TO RESEMBLE THE COUNTRY CLUB STATUS IT HAD. NEW SUPERINTENDENT HAS GOTTEN THE COURSE AND ESPECIALLY THE GREENS IN GREAT SHAPE.
Nice course, well groomed fairways, greens roll true, subtle breaks. Will play there again.
Nice course and very kind people. It was mt first ever time golfing and i felt comfortable and had a great time.
Beautiful course, and great staff. Highly reccomended
Excellent. Best course along with Riverside in Battle Creek.
It was in great shape and a challenging course
Greens are fast and smooth nice course
Very enjoyable and challenging course.
Good place play golf
Challenging course and great price.
Great deal, great price, great place.
Back 9 is like golfing in a National Forest Preserve in rolling hills. Most beautiful, most challenging course Ive played. Dont go in the rough, you wont like it.
Ive played Maywood for 50 years so I am a little biased. Course was in good shape. Sand traps need sand. Greens were good.
Good course, good price
Played Marywood Sunday morning May 19, 2019, the course is in terrible shape. The fairways and roughs have not been mown in several days. Fairways are like rough and you cant see your ball in the rough. Golfers looking for balls all over the course. We talked to the guy at the counter and he said thats the way the course will be mowed all year. The rough is not 2 inches as he said. The greens are in bad shape too. We have played Marywood several time throughout the years and this is the worst its ever been. Dont waste your money, its not a $32 course. Sad disappointed and wont go back.
One of the most challenging course Ive ever played!!Ive played some of the best in michigan. If the course was in better shape I think it would be one of the best courses for the price in michigan!!
The guy at the counter seem like he didnt want to be there. Friendly as a wasp. Course was awesome.
Nice course. Need to get rid of the geese.
Good place to golf
Great place for a good day golfing and a great place to fly a drone at Christmas time too. Practice green was undamaged!!!
This is a must-do central Michigan golf experience. Fantastic golf course you will not be disappointed.
Beautiful course if they take care of it
Course has great potential. Very sad with with the up keep of this place. One green was so burnt up. They asked once your ball landed on so called green, that you add two strokes and move to next hole.
Very nice golf course! Well maintained and very challenging with some tough greens. Would recommend this course to anyone with a set of clubs and up for a challenge.
Beautiful course with very challenging holes. Definitely a fun course to play. I find it a little expensive for the service and the type of people you run into on the course. Not my first pick unless I really want a challenge and beautiful scenery.
Course has improved from last year
Very nice golf coarse and is challenging price is good also.
Very disappointing, the greens r horrible. The ball washers water smells disgusting. The staff was absolutely awesome, cant emphasize that enough.
Nice golf course and owners
I guess they let any red neck with a cut off play this coarse now.... I use to play here when it was a nice establishment and it was a awesome track..... But now it is for hillbillies with radios blasting and tank tops..... Its to bad that the owner doesnt care about the game..... My name is Greg Bona and have played this coarse at least one hundred times and am sorry to say has become the white trash Capitol of the golfing community for the area..... I cant believe a owner would do so poorly with his decisions.....it may be business but sometimes you should think about the sport....
Greens are in bad shape. Some completely gone . Must not have anyone who is a greenskeeper.
Overall it was good, some of the greens were in bad shape
Its not an easy course but its really pleasurable to play
Beautiful cool day
GREAT golf course. Challenging holes, no matter how many times you play. Can almost always get a tee time w/o having to wait for a larger group to finish a hole before we can tee off. Or being under pressure of having a group tee off directly after you. Especially if you are a relative beginner. And by God forbid, you have to learn how to use all the clubs in a different way, on pretty much one day! (This is the part where I highly recommend a golf range) So many details thrown at you.The bunkers need major work. I will not hit out of them due to the gravel. Not worth messing up an expensive club. But makes me feel like Im cheating because we drag ball out of gravel & drop it as close as possible to bunkeras we can get.We love Merrywood. We wish someone,.owners, potential owners, would put the time & effort into what it used to be.And I know what things should look like. My father was superintendent @ Gull Lake View East & West for years. He built Stonehedge, then was superintendent there. He carried that knowledge home w him, and as a result, giving us the most luscious, green yard a man could hope for.I DO NOT want to see Merrywood go out of business! It is our go to golf course. We do our our part to bring in the income. I hope others are/will do the same. The loss of this course, would have a major impact on a lot of golf aficionados lives.
My favorite golf course. But sadly their grounds are getting pretty bad..
This course has potential. Most of the greens are in bad shape, and the fair way grass is like hitting out of the rough.
Poor greens watering of course appeared to have not been a priority. Will not drive to play there again this year!!
Best Golf course in Battle Creek by far!
Beautiful course massive fungus on every green . Impossible to score on this course
They just let it go dead greens and all
Dont listen to Greg Bona. Hes one of those hillbilly drunk ones hes talking bout.
Beautiful
Not well taken care of. Greens are fuzzy and slow. Course is already tough. Grew up playing this course when they really cared about it. Its really ashamed.
Great course
Nice challenging course,,,,,,,,,but the greens,,, a little rough
Beautiful
Try to play there every time we’re in town!
Nice course
Horrible service
Nice Golf Course
Great place to golf
Horrible service! The lady has no sense of urgency! It takes forever to pay and play. The condition of the course is not worth the wait.
