Lovely museum in miniature. Think of it as a 1/2 & 1/2 museum. The portrait gallery and Asian art are truly masterful whilst the other 1/2 feels out of place, i.e., spiritistic art. There are only 2 pieces of local furniture with rich history which left us looking for more. Beautiful views of the mighty Mississippi from the expansive windows up there!
Odd things like the top of a commercial kitchen table with bullet holes. No explaination of what it is supposed to mean. Some old artworks including works of jade. Modern art that did not appeal to me. The lobby smelled awful.A couple of rooms of artwork regarding police shooting black people. If you believe all police are racists, then they may appeal to you. Otherwise it seemed too extreme and not helpful in promoting understanding or solutions.I have given two stars because it did have significant variety that could appeal to others but did not for me.
The LSU Museum of Art is very nice. On this first Sunday, there was a live violinist whose sounds were heard throughout the museum during our visit. I wouldve liked to be cautioned about the exhibit showing sexual material as I chauffeured 5 children along with me during this visit.
Spent a couple of hours here yesterday. Nice mixture of old and new. Impressive collections on loan. If you like silver, huge exhibit. I enjoyed the artist whose photography is featured. Huge collection. Staff is friendly. We went on a Friday afternoon so it was quiet. There is a cool sushi bar on the top floor and a beautiful patio outside for drinks and conversation. Would be too hot until late evening right now. I love art museums, and I enjoyed this on
I had the best time with my daughters. This place is amazing!
Some very interesting exhibits in a beautiful location with awesome point of view on the Mississippi River. A boutique on the first floor with artifacts reproduction and a restaurant on the 6th floor rooftop. Really worth the visit! Also, next door you can visit the Old Louisiana State Capitol with its spiral staircase and its stained glass dome (see photos), worth a look! Didnt have time for a full visit :-(
Bigger space than youd expect to find on the fifth floor of a downtown building. The attention to detail is top notch in terms of how the artwork is displayed. The architecture of the space gives a modern, contemplative feeling. The lighting varied from adequate to subdued, occasionally dim. Some of the space is illuminated partly by natural light so weather may have been a factor. No question, if you havent been yet you are shorting yourself.
We just happened to come on a day they had an event and really enjoyed the conversation and wine. It was very enjoyable!
Visited for the Impressionist exhibit they had. Very nice museum.
This is an awesome place plenty of things to see if you like looking at things you probably never seen before this is a great place for you very friendly staff very clean establishment always have a great time when we go there great place to bring the kids
Excellent art museum in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge. Has displays of cultural signifigant art by Louisiana artists as well a prices from around the world. The bottom floor has the student gallery, show casing the students work, which was my favorite part. Free to students and faculty of the LSU system too.
Very nice environment for friends and family. First Sunday of the months are free visits too! ;)
We go almost every weekend. Our daughter loves it.
Wonderful museum! A great variety of works, something for everyone from historic works, decorative arts and contemporary works. Also a nice room cor children and families...
Great place. Peaceful and art blissful.
Lovely small museum right downtown at the Manshop Theatre. Free Sunday program once a month with childrens activities and excellent lectures on exhibits. One of the citys gems.
I am an Art teacher and it was my first time. Sone really amazing exhibits.

Really fun experience if youre new to Louisiana, never a dull moment. Much to learn in the boot state.
Great exhibition of Robert Williams. Nicely displayed, nice staff.
Nice exhibits! Take the elevator up and pay a modest admission to see a nice collection.
My wife and I loved Toulouse-Lautrec and La Vie Moderne. LSU MOA is certainly becoming a decent museum in the BR area.
Great experience
They have a collection of nice old paintings.
Closed due to severe weather .
Lovely Museum.
Beautiful Louisiana art.
