Gorgeous views. However, waterfront sites are extremely small. Next sites fire pit was actually behind us. Other sites are only a bit more spacious, with few trees in between. Didnt like not being able to reserve specific site...having to wait until arrival to learn what site we got.
I went here on a camping trip with my dad and we got the best spot as they said so about $100 a night. They told us we got a premium spot but no. The water is brown, we couldn’t use the pool because someone allegedly broke into it and broke something, no hot water in the shower, and of course like other spots there was no lake view. Also did I mention no shade most of the day. I don’t think I will be coming back to this place.
Great RV campground with full hookup (water, electric, and sewer) spots available. Nice location right on the north side of Mount Desert Island. Only about a 15 minute drive from Bar Harbor or 20 minutes to the middle of Acadia National Park.
We stayed here just after Labor Day. We received an email stating we would receive our campsite but had to call to find out this information. Arrived at 3:20pm to realize the office closed at 3pm despite the posted times stating 5pm. Paid extra for an oceanview site to realize we had a nice view of the tree line and were right on top of the only 3 other occupied campsites despite all of the others being open with no privacy between. We had to call 3 different numbers and waited on hold for almost an hour to request a campsite change which was eventually honored. After our second night here, we were disgusted to find a pile of feces on our site. I’m still unsure if this was from a large dog someone let roam free or a human since there weren’t any bathrooms located near the campsites as shown on the map. Showers were cold and not particularly clean. Definitely will not be staying here again.
We paid extra for ocean front tenting. From the map it looks like youd be right on the ocean with a clear view.In reality its a tent spot in the woods where you can see some water glistening through the trees. This is not ocean front. If your a guy who weighs more then 100 pounds the bathrooms in the middle of the park will be a struggle if you need to take a number 2. Theres maybe 12 inches of clearance between. The door and toilet seat. You have to lean off to the side because the rolls of toilet paper hang about 4 inches over the seat itself.Ive spent half the price on much nicer camping locations around various national parks.
Agree with others. Nice campground with great views but sites are too small and close together. Our neighbors were friendly and dogs had a great time!
The campground as a whole is like any other campground with fairly clean bathrooms and normal amenities. My main complaints lie with the unorganized check in process and the campsites themselves. We were supposed to be sent our campsite number in advance of our trip, but did not receive it. We called customer service and were put on hold for over 30 minutes before we were given our number. We paid for a campsite with an ocean view, which was kind of a joke as there was a tree line between our campsite and the ocean. The campsites are on top of each other, so there is constant loud noise from other campsites. We could not fall asleep until after 3am each night because of the noise. The campsite was very pricey for what it was, so we will likely not be returning.
Didnt have the best experience during my 3 night stay here. We were within 10 of the sites on both sides of us with absolutely no privacy (e.g. trees) between. I dont think Ive ever seen such cramped RV lanes. There are normal bathroom and (free) shower facilities, but the showers were not clean... There were black spots along the stall/curtain that I didnt want to know what it was so tried to get in and out. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but theyre pretty far from the tentsites. There are tap water spigots throughout the site but the water was a dark yellow... So we relied on the water in the bathhouses. Our waterfront premium site had no water views so we felt like we were mislead and charged for something we didnt receive. We brought it up to management but with no resolution. It put a damper on this trip for something we were excited about. We camped at Bass Harbor Campground just before this stay and Id highly recommend that place over this one.
Very clean and quiet campground, with walking access to the waterfront a 5 minute or less walk from any campsite. We spent two nights here and only have good things to say.
We loved this place! Stunningly beautiful and well-maintained. Only about a 15 min drive to Bar Harbor
Very clean and well spaced out campsites! They have a few bathrooms closed due to covid so it was a little bit of a walk from our site but in general very good! Really close to Bar Harbor and other Acadia sights.
Water hookup is brown and dirty, when its working. Almost no water pressure. Bathrooms are a hot mess - not clean, old, just dirty. They have every other shower closed off due to covid, yet its a separated space, so its clearly for saving on cleaning costs. Resulting in more people accessing half the normal number of shower units. The water view is beautiful but it comes with wafts of sewage smell depending on the wind direction. The sites are extremely narrow and one right on top of the other, and they are not level. Will not be returning here and wouldnt recommend.
Staff was always so pleasant and helpful. Facilities were clean. I would definitely stay there again the next time Im in Maine
Getting ready to depart for vacation only to find out we would be quarantined for 14 days on arrival to the campground!! Left a voice mail two weeks ago when I checked on status of Maine and no one ever responded. I spoke with someone at Mt. Desert Narrows today and was informed the small print when I checked in on-line contained the quarantine update. That is BS!! I made this reservation in January. Why no phone call regarding the quarantine? No secret where we are coming from as the have our address from the reservation. After 40+ years of camping here we are done with Mt. Desert Narrows?
Super pretty campgrounds, but the sites are extremely close together, especially during COVID-19. One RV pulled in right next to us, and realized how close everyone was, and cancelled his spot. Showers, bathrooms and laundry rooms were squeaky clean. We were there for 9 days and still barely touched on the grandeur of the land.
We stayed at the cabin in the campgrounds. Beautiful ocean views, nice heated pool, lots to do there. Enjoyed our time there.
Convenient location. Great pool. Clean bathrooms and showers. Friendly staff. Visited during covid so some activities were closed but this was a great base camp.
The bathrooms were very disgusting and there were trees right in the middle of our spot. Expected better for the price paid. Very disappointed
Tent camping. There are a wide variety of campsites to choose from, some close together some far apart. The sites by the water seem pretty close together but the further from the water you go the more spacious and private the lots are, but they fill out the quick so get there early. All but one of the neighbors was pleasant. Unfortunately the ice cream social and magic show were cancelled due to covid amd the pool is shut down because of drunk people messing it up. Would return. Also it wouldnt kill them to bleach the showers and replace shower curtains. Shower in the dark and you wont notice.
Very nice campground, good sites. Clean facilities and courteous staff. Definitely would plan on coming back.
Showers were nicer than some hotels Ive stayed at. Quiet and good views
This was one of our go to places to go camping. Our sites were mixed up from the 800# we called. When we got there they said the site we booked was not available. Bathrooms were not cleaned very well despite the COVID concerns. Friends we went with stated some of the staff were not friendly on the phone, even rude. I hope this place cleans up as this is the only place on Acadia that is in the water.
Theres a problem with the water here. Used an external water filter, but doesnt completely eliminate the brown water. It doesnt smell, but looks GROSS!**UPDATE**Dave manages the campground, he came out in person, acknowledged the issue, offered to move us up the road to the big rig section of Mt Dessert Narrows Campground. He was friendly and apologetic.
Despite covid you are squished in like sardines by the ocean view sites. There was a tree right in front of our site making it difficult to back in. Our site was full of roots and uneven ground. The water from the site spigot was still brownish as others have posted. The grate on our firepit was dirty from the prior campers. They claim they clean the bathroom twice a day but there were stains all over the stall walls and the same cigarettes and cobwebs were on the ground my entire five days stay and the handles dont look like theyve ever been cleaned. When you get off the toilet it feels like the toilet is coming with you. The entire bathroom is completely outdated for how much you pay to be there. Showers were gross and people kept complaining the water was cold so I never even showered . Pool was closed and no ice cream social as advertised. For 120$ a night I will not be returning.
Nice camping ground. They have a boat launch on site. Showers wont hold a constant temperature. Staff is friendly.
Terrific camping experience...friendly check-in staff...ended up with awesome tent site (T25) right on water. Family loved it.
The best of what Maine has to offer... beauty, friendliest and great outdoor activities...
We booked a night here because West Street & the KOA was full. Immediately upon check in, the lady in the office didn’t give a site number — just a large circle and which roads to take to get there. She said, “You’ll see empty sites with tables and fire rings. Pick one.” She explained there were no bathrooms in that area at all. Yikes. I was in and out of the office within 60 seconds. We set up at the first empty site within the map circle with a table and fire ring because it was closest to the bathroom (still quite the haul). We went to the pool for about 30 minutes after setting up — 4 person tent, a grill, and two chairs. The site was pretty large. When we got back from the pool, there were three folks standing at the site. The guy explained they had picked and reserved the site. He was cool about it. We said okay, we must’ve misunderstood the staff’s directions. That’s fine, we will move. No problem. The maintenance guys came by and we explained the misunderstanding. They offered to let us move just across the street & get us a picnic table. Too kind! 5/5 for them.WELL LET ME TELL YOU WHAT WASNT KIND — the voicemail Katie from the office left us while we were at the pool. The attitude behind the message of: “YOU set up in a marked place where you were NOT SUPPOSED TO and NOW the PEOPLE WHO DID RESERVE IT, CANT SET UP THEIR TENT! SO YOUR TENT WILL BE TAKEN DOWN AND PUT IN THE OFFICE WHEN YOURE READY TO SET UP PROPERLY. We’re here until 7. K? Thanks. Bye.”First, that was a bit dramatic. Second, the site was huge and they could have easily set up their tents while they waited for us to return. Third, how rude. You would think a whole day had gone by and we inconvenienced the staff and other campers on purpose.Where’s the tact and hospitality? Where’s the consideration that something might’ve been a misunderstanding? Professionalism? The lack of hospitality and overwhelming amount of rudeness over an issue that could have and should have been explained better isn’t becoming of any “resort.”FACILITIES: Now that we’ve gone through zero out of 5 stars already, I might as well continue. The bathrooms are in serious need of updating. The toilets are coming out of the wall and move when you sit on them. Showers are nothing short of disgusting — brown shower curtains that should be white. Black mold. Seems as if no one has bothered to keep them clean in quite some time. We tried to shower but the water was so cold, we couldn’t.POOL - The pool has an unpleasant smell and also needs to be cleaned. Go figure!SITE - We had field mice run through our campsite. Location wasn’t bad. It was pretty quiet all night besides people walking half a mile to the bathroom and cars passing on highway.Overall, if you put the same efforts into hospitality and upkeep as you do ripping into your guests over simple misunderstandings, your establishment would have potential to be great.0/5 stars. Doesn’t even come close in comparison other campgrounds in the area for less per night. We spend every weekend traveling throughout Maine and New England and haven’t run into such significant issues. Our friends, family, and coworkers ask us for recommendations every week on where to stay, eat, experience, etc. 100% do not recommend, we will actually encourage to avoid at all costs.I would attach a video of the voicemail undertone, but only a photo is allowed.
Solid place to pitch a tent, if a little pricy (Labor Day surge, I suppose) -- great hospitality!
Very nice, has a pool, right on the Eastern Bay. People are very friendly
RVs were packed in like sardines, with no privacy. Tent campers have more space and privacy depending on where you are in the camp site. Camp sites on the water for tent campers have gorgeous views. We went tent camping and had a larger site compared to others so we had space. Id suggest making sure you get a site that is not right next to other campers for more privacy, otherwise you are extremely close to the other campers, which could be nice if you are looking for socialize but it is not great for solitude. There are playgrounds and a pool for kids. Running water and showers too.
Very nice quiet place has everything you need.
They have the koa beat to heck. We moved as they have much nicer sites.
Beautiful setting, fire pit with grate, highly recommend
We are seasoned campers, on a whim took a second vacation around Labor Day weekend. Took a risk and decided to pay $260 for 2 nights on the ocean camping! The campground appears to be a franchise. Upon arrival the staff were extremely friendly and the shop seemed to have all that you need. We arrived at the site and it was indeed ocean front and beautiful. However the bathrooms were disgusting! In desperate need of up keep, repairs, black mold, paint chips, and a horrid smell. For the price they charge, I expected better. A campground up the road charges a quarter of the price and the bathrooms are spotless. We will not return.
3 night stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Acadia was my childhood with my father, I have so many memories and this is my first time being back in 20 years. This campground really kept the memory alive for me and I don’t think I could have asked for anything more in a location. After being disheartened for searching through so many full campgrounds, we called The Mount Desert Narrows and they invited us to pick out spot and signed us in with ease. This is where I will come back to again and again.
We booked a premium site for ocean view with hook upsWas attracted to this site because of ocean view and heated poolArrived about 5.30 Pool was closed Store was closed Office was closed .Couldnt get firewood or any supplies and couldnt go for a swimOur site had absolutely no view as the growth was too thick to see anythingOnce the night set in we realized our site was under an obnoxiously bright street light . It appeared to be the only one in our area. After 10 PM we went looking for another spot.We found one that was empty so moved and went to bed.Very disappointed especially with the price we paid.Had stayed at 2 other sites earlier in Salem and Schenectady and was happier for a third of the price.
Overall we had a wonderful time camping with our RV for 6 days! We came to explore Acadia National Park, and this was a great home point during our stay. Here are some of our family Pros & Cons (which may differ from others’ experiences)Pros- working fire pits, solid tables, great location close to everything, beautiful views of the water, helpful and friendly staff, swimming pool & canoes, easy check in, stocked front desk, pet friendly, easy waste/electrical/water hookups, good price for what you get!Cons- lots need more shade and more level gravel, briny water, very muddy when rains, tight bathroom stalls, poor internet availability.
This is a beautiful campground with very friendly staff. I only gave it 3 stars because they moved my site without contacting me first. I spent 20 minutes on the phone deciding which site I wanted. We were originally next to friends and close to the bathroom. They placed us much further than both.
Nice clean campground. The ocean view sites are tight & the ones we had were more Oceanside & wooded than ocean view. The staff was super friendly & helpful. Showers were clean & laundry was a plus. We will definitely be back. Very good location in relation to Acadia park & bar harbor.
Little crowded... Clean facilities. Pricey.
Im not sure where my last review went but Im reposting this a year later seeing that it somehow disappeared... this place was devastatingly bad. Swastikas carved in the bathrooms decayed picnic table and just disgusting amenities. We paid 100 dollars for an ocean front site and were the only ones at the place. Should have been a sign. They then put another directly next to us with the entire ocean front area vacant. I went here years in a row before and this place has entirely crumbled. DO NOT waste your money
If youre looking for brown drinking water, a green pool, cold and dirty showers and a fire ring close enough to hear your neighbors breathe, this place is for you! Honestly, the Ocean front sites were so small we didnt even know how wed get our trailer in. No activities, and dogs barking everywhere. It just was not the place for us.
Mt desert narrows is a great campground. They have a pool, arcade, clean showers, great staff! All the staff are very nice! They have a store with essentials. It’s on the ocean, you can’t swim there but it’s a nice view. The happy clam is across the street check that out too.
Loved it. Right on the water. Spacious spaces, nice folks, beautiful.
Waterfront sites are great... pool is warm. No playground for kids. Other than that a nice place.
Nice pool. Some large sites. Few pad roads. No cement patios. Some view of the ocean. Lots of pretty sites for tents.
First entering the camp ground we were not impressed to see an unusable green pool. We had also booked a premium back in site and were given an RV site instead or a trailer which we had. There was a constant smell of sewer from the dump for black and grey water. Another issue that we had encountered was that the campground staff would stop in front of every camp site and take notes as if they didn’t know when each camper was going to check in or check out. Over all it seemed as no one was impressed with what the campground had to offer for the price and I would not recommend it.
A nice RV and tent camp ground. The employees are very friendly and the spots along the bay are beautiful. The showers are ok but plenty of hot water.
Great staff. Regina Orazem & Robert Orazem were very helpful.
Great location. Bar harbor and Arcadia park near by. Good pricing. Some spots are little unlevel for the big rigs
Considering the price that was paid for normal tent campsite we really didnt see the value. The campsite was on well water - so all the drinking water was brown. The services were quite outdated which is fine imo for a campsite but the showers were freezing cold. The worst part was that portable toilets were placed throughout the campsite - which made sense in theory because the bathrooms were far - but it meant we had one right next to our site and had to experience a slamming bathroom door through the night, many times a night, and endure the stench.
I had a campsite right on the ocean and it was amazing. The sites are open theres not a lot of privacy however I would return and recommend anyone
Our area was very muddy and there were swarms of mosquitos. Tent camp sites are pretty expensive, especially for the rustic acres area. There was a port-a-potty a short walk from our area, but no drinking water nearby.
Very friendly staff, sites are kind of close and roads are a little narrow but overall a great place to stay in the area.
Pool, toilets, showers are disgusting... Waterfront sites are really too small. Service is ok.
Terrible campground. Rude people, not a good site as advertisement
First tate scenery
My husband and I stayed here for 12 days and were very pleased with the campground and the view of the water. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing we noticed was we felt that the sites are a bit narrow and just barely long enough to hold our fifth wheel and our truck.
Very accommodating.Moved our site to a more level water front site.. when our thermostat needed to be replaced we moved again to a totally shaded site which was so necessary since we didnt have air-conditioning..
Good accomadations
This would have been a five star rating if not for the price of the camping. Even with the Veterans discount it was close to $200 for three nights with only power and water. Ouch. However, the park was beautiful, the staff were super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the best things to do and see on the island depending on the amount of time you had to explore. Off season rates are not so harsh..
Just got here yesterday and the negative reviews are accurate, unfortunately. Will not be staying here again. Paid for a premium ocean site and I have a huge tree stump with its above grou d rood system in the middle. Bathrooms are dated, gross. Water is brownish yellow and the views are marginal. And the pool is green. Very disappointing considering we came from Michigan and it took 20 hours to get here. Lesson learned - dont go by overall ratings .. read the ratings! We will be getting compensation for this over priced rv spot
Expected more for the price. Bathrooms were cramped and a little grimy. Sites were ok. Pool was ok. Nothing here to get excited about or set it apart from any other campground. Would probably check out another place next time.
Third time at this campground. Great views, nice sites, decent showers/ restrooms. not happy about the pool out of order. Kids were upset also. Staff seemed indifferent. Was told we could go to one of the other campground pools they have elsewhere in the area. Other guests told us the pool had issues a week now. May want to be sure all is working correctly before you come.
Great campsite on a lake. Clean and quiet. Very friendly camp hosts that are very knowledgeable about Acadia National park and surrounding. Will definitely be back!!!
Nice family oriented campground. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms!
We were seasonal guests for 3 seasons. Staff was fabulous management on the orher hand, terrible!!!!! Great location with old amenities.
We stayed at few different campgrounds during our trip to New England and this one was ranked #1 for us. We were there mid-week for just 2 nights but the site was great! It was spacious and easy to get in and out of. We walked to the shoreline to watch the sunset and it was beautiful. Im glad this campground was on our route!
Stayed in the one camping cabin on the grounds. Actually a newly constructed mobile home. Lots of beds, access to more bathrooms at campground plus 1 bath in the trailer. Works wonderfully for a big family with many children. If you have a big family, you will understand that accommodations like this are rare! Kitchen supplies are adequate like you would expect for a cabin. Full size oven and fridge are great.
We originally was going to stay here for 4 weeks, but when we got there we found out that they didnt have full hookups. Luckily we were able to move to the sister park, Narrows Too. This park was quite lovely but we couldnt live 4 weeks w/o full hookups.
$52 / night but we averaged $28 with Passport America. W/E30/I Beautiful level grass site overlooking a lake. Satisfactory open spacing between sites. Downtown Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain only about 20 minutes away. Only downside is that internet access was poor. Would definitlely stay here again!!!
Needs some cosmetic work, it is clean. The laundry room for such a large place is rediculously small and very hot. The pool should be closed, its green and they need to learn how to clean it. The sites are very cramped (as at most places). My biggest pet pea is that this is a Thousand Trails property and you expect it to be a certain standard and its just not there.
We stayed last year for over a week. Loved the view, pool area, easy access by shuttle to everywhere we wanted to go.
The tent camping area is packed, and not private. They have crappy portapottties placed everywhere, and they WAY over charge per night. They are also RIGHT off the main road. The ocean site campgrounds have a bunch of seaweed, instead of sand where the water meets land. Stick to state campgrounds, 1/3 of the price, for a much better experience. Id give this place 0 stars if I could. Wasted a lot of money, and couldnt bare to stay there even one minute, so we went to a state campground.
To call it a resort is a stretch. Its a basic campground with a pretty view and nice looking wooded sites. We were there for 4 days, the whole time the pool water was brown and very warm, 96F. The playground is old. Some showers dont have adequate hot water supply.
We stayed here for a few nights while visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia. The area is beautiful! The campground was nice and clean, and the views were stunning.Showers and laundry were clean. Folks in the office were nice and friendly. It was perfect for our needs!
Nice views, close to Acadia Forest National Park. Large stagnant pond with lots of mosquitos.
We stayed in site W5B with water and electric. For 3 days had an electric issue that was finally fixed. At $75 a night we should not have had this problem. Also our site needed mowing drastically. I like some privacy when I camp and these sites have absolutely none. There needs to be some vegetation between the campsites. Showers were so, so - one was great - the other very bad. STAFF have been exceptional - no complaints there. Bus to and from Bar Harbor were not on time either. Would not stay again - this place is much too pricey - we heard from others down the road that there place was only $44 a night. We went out west for 3 months last year and never paid these prices.
Fantastic campground, we look forward to coming back. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Quiet and clean. Very enjoyable staff helpful and friendly.
We had a wonderful stay at this location. The pool was very nice and the store offered goods at a reasonable price. Location to main attractions was convenient.
We had a wonderful time. The campground was very nice.
We had site 152 a little snug but pretty view of ocean very dark there at night No lights anywhere. There for 1st week of September misitos bad nice people though
Beautiful, quiet setting! Lovely view of the water, and everyone in front office is just delightful....we have a big rig, and the design of the place made it incredibly easy to pull in and get set up! We are already planning a possibly family trip and have our kids and grandkids come!!
