First time back since the shut down for Covid 19 and the YMCA is very organized and following protocols. They were very informative with the new way. Very clean and good environment.
Enjoyed using the pool, until I noticed someone with a baby in pool diapers that were falling down. Ended up with an intestinal bug that my doctor said was from contaminated pool water!
I joined the Y 7 months ago and I am thankful I did! Results have been rewarding. My mental and physical health has improved. I look forward to my daily workouts and.greeting the Staff/Trainers is always pleasurable and memorable!
The YMCA at 33rdst in Baltimore MD has been taking money out of my bank and they are not open . I had a overdraft situation because they never bothered to reach out to me to see if I wanted to remain a member . I had to go down to the bank for help. Gladly the bank took care of this problem. Im posting this because I wont to cancel my membership and they are still closed. I have no one to speak to about this matter.
Close to my home and work, in the city, clean facilities, good activity offerings, friendly volunteers, newly renovated, relevant exercise classes, at convenient times for my work schedule. Popular, without being crowded.
A great place and very family oriented! Lots of class offerings for the whole family. The playground outside is amazing. Great family price with perks included and the staff respond to inquiries thoroughly and quickly. Our membership is new but so far we love it! Access to 13 locations too!
I love this place, the cycling classes are amazing, they are family oriented and the staff are just fantastic. The Weinberg Y in Waverly is a gym you can call GREAT!
The Weinberg Y is a huge plus to our community. We all benefit from their interest, and vice versa.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and neat. I always feel welcome.
I am back after a hiatus and I love it! There are so many options of classes, programs and equipment that I always have lots of choices. The staff is friendly and always welcomes me. I am grateful to have this resource so close to me!
I go with my family almost daily. The Y is so welcoming and the staff are so inviting. I love it here.
I have just begun my fitness journey and have not yet taken advantage of the many classes and features of the facility yet but I look forward to taking a few classes, particularly yoga, working out with my peers and learning how to use all of the state of the art equipment at my disposal.
I love going to the Weinberg Y in Waverly because the people (not just the staff!) are genuinely friendly and always want you to get a great workout. It is an extremely positive environment to be in, I always see a friendly face - whether I go at the crack of dawn or after work, and I always look forward to my next visit.
The pool could take a good updated remodel. Other than that, Waverly is a very fun place to go.
I really like this gym! The staff is always both welcoming and helpful. I love all the classes that are offered. I joined the Project You program and I have loved every minute of it - working out with a group of great ladies help keep me accountable to my goals. Also - I never need to wait to use machines or equipment. The pool and sauna are bonuses.
The Y has great facilities and great individual programs. However, the lack of consistency and organization is often a bit frustrating. Up until recently, the swimming program was a bit inconsistent and it was difficult for parents who have children who already know the basics to actually see consistent progress. This was vastly improved by the swim director who, however, is no longer with the Waverly Y. Hopefully, this structure will stay in place. While there have been several great dance instructors, retaining them and really building the program seems to be difficult although there is definitely interest in the community.
The YMCA staff is very friendly and approachable. The building is nice and inviting. There is more than enough variety of equipment and facilities to use for exercise.I like the community environment that the YMCA encourages.
Small group training provides the individual attention of 1 on 1 training and the camaraderie of a fitness class. Every week Julia provides a new workout and challenge tailored to the strengths and goals of the group. It will push you out of your comfort zone and into a new level of fitness. I highly recommend small group training to anyone that wants to kick up their fitness, learn with the guidance of a professional, or start on their fitness journey.
I like the diversity of people and fitness levels at the Y. I feel the community amongst people who are working on fitness goals.
Friendly and helpful staff. I have been a member for over 2 years and my experience has been great!
Professional staff, clean environment, family oriented, great instructors and variety of classes for all. We are blessed to have this YMCA in our neighborhood. Thank you!
I go to this location and the Parkville location because the cost of membership entitles you to go to any Y location in Maryland. I enjoy the classes, clean facilities, respectful staff and members. I dont like to exercise so fun classes keep me motivated on my fitness journey. There is enough of a variety that I dont get bored. I also appreciate the Waverly location has later class hours. I get off work at 6. Its nice to have options at 7 or 8pm for those of us who work later. I highly recommend being a Y member.
Love this place! Love that our family can come as a family or not!
I appreciate that this Y offers so much (child care, swimming, classes, free weights area that includes a squat rack and an Olympic lifting platform) for such a reasonable price!
Ive been a member since they opened in 2004. Well maintained and always updating. I particularly enjoy the pool... I can always find an open lane.
I travel as often as possible. As a personal trainer who is always looking to get a good workout in when l’m not in my home city my YMCA membership is one of the most valuable things I spend my money on. I actually really look forward to going to new YMCA gyms and checking out the unique equipment. This place has everything one would need. It is especially well equipped for a leg workout with a Hack Squat and Glute Isolation machine. There is a slightly haggard platform with bumper plates. That’s always a plus. They have more than enough cardio equipment. I also saw a climbing wall. The place wasn’t packed, but there were plenty of folks there. I have varying degrees of interactions with people when they have to check me in as a visitor. Everyone here was very nice and helpful.
The equipment is great and the main exercise rooms, flooded with light from the large windows. But as a senior citizen, I feel especially at home because of the age mix—young, very buff athletes and hearty senior citizens work out happily side by side. I also love that this Y is racially integrated--a true reflection of the city and the neighborhood. The staff is also very friendly and efficient. A great place.
While the rest of my life was imploding around me, The Weinberg YMCA provided me a place to rebuild my mind, body, and soul. Im forever grateful.
Very nice to get a workout in after work every day! Plus the pool has very good hours for my schedule.
Great gym and community center. Were often here several times a week between workouts and preschooler swim classes. The Stay and Play here is awesome too.
The Waverly Y is great! Everyone is really nice to me and my family, which makes working out, swimming and playing in the gym even better!
Wonderful positive experience. So nice to have this Y in the neighborhood. Great programming and competent trainers!
Had physical therapy here with Emily and she was so fantastic. All staff in PT are so friendly and so easy to get along with. Always had fun chatting with them during every session! Lovely people!!Emily was very understanding and comforting - her guidance was crucial in my recovery! 10 stars!
I like this gym a lot. I have gone pretty consistently for the last 9 months, and I always have a good experience. They have a lot of equipment; with the exception of benches, I rarely have to wait to use anything. The place is kept clean, the facilities are nice, and the staff are friendly.
I joined and have remained a member because of Donnette Mitchell. Her classes are very inspiring. She makes you feel good while she encourages you to work hard for that new body you want. Whenever she subs a class additionally to her regular classes I make sure to be there because I know that I will have a great workout.
Best gym in Baltimore. And I’m really into the new remodel. The staff is friendly, the cost of membership is super affordable (especially if you work for JHU) and it’s relatively clean for such a high volume gym. My only complaints are the hours and the fact that the workout room can get pretty hot and stuffy. I know that Catonsville location has fans that circulate air. I really wish the Waverly location would set up some fans for hot, humid days... but otherwise, it’s a lovely gym.
We love the Y. I honestly dont know what we would have done without the Y during COVID. They have provided a safe structured environment for my daughter that has allowed her a level of normalcy that I wasnt able to provide for her. She is doing great, the teachers and camp counselors are amazing humans, and I cant recommend the Y enough.
Small personal training classes are awesome, staff is informative, involved, and friendly. Great feeling of community and range of classes offered, I love being a member of the Waverly Y!
I enjoy the community of Waverly YMCA!
Great summer fun for kids!
The hours are great, my personal trainer is great help to me. The equipment is the best Ive ever worked with. My personal trainer is very knowledgeable about health and the equipment .
Very convenient location. Knowledgeable and patient instructors, especially Bada and Carlen. Teen friendly and clean.
I am loving the new addition to my healthcare program. The facility programs diversity of people are a great match. I would however like to see more investment in the employees. There attitudes and energy do not match all the great things that are happening there. This is typical of alot of organizations. When you invest in your people it translates to your customers and thus to the community and to the world.
Great staff, very friendly, good variety of equipment.
Awesome staff, Awesome programs Its more then worth every penny
This place has everything that you would expect from a good health and fitness center
Nice facility. Lots of exercise equipment, not busy to often. The pool is supposed to be heated but it rarely above 80°. If my kid is in for more than 10 minutes, he starts shivering and his lips turn purple. Not sure why its so cold. Reliable childcare during workouts and the Preschool is excellent.
I enjoy the friendly staff, beautiful facilities, and general convenience. Im very happy working out at the Y!
I have been a member since soon after it opened and it is clear that this YMCA is a tremendous community resource. The staff is great and the facility is well-maintained. They do a great job of accommodating the community, particularly young people who are looking for a supervised, safe environment. I think the original infrastructure should have been more ambitious. It needs a larger gym, a larger fitness center, and more aerobic exercise space. If it were up to me they would have an outdoor pool too. I recommend it highly to anyone of any age or background.
Friendly staff, clean facility, overall a great place!
The staff is great! I love coming to the Y i get a sense of accomplishment. I love yoga and water aerobics
My family and I love going to the Y on 33rd. We willcontinue participating at this location.
I became acquainted with the Y during my ACL surgery rehab. The staff was always friendly and helpful. After rehab I began taking fitness classes such Core, Step Strong, Circuit Training and Boot Camp. Its been over 3 years since my surgery and I attend classes 2-3 times a week. I am in better shape than before my surgery and Ive lost weight and inches; more importantly I have gained friends and a fitness community that encourages and motivates me to be my best. Thanks Ian Smith and Ms. Linda Smith you have truly reshaped me!!!!
Most YMCA in baltimore clean updated and so much more to do for the community
Friendly, convenient, good classes included in fee and overall good vibe
Very convenient and family friendly, welcoming staff, activities for kids and adults!
Very disappointed. Went to drop my daughter off at the stay and play and the lady was yelling so much at the children that my daughter who is 5 said this doesnt seem like fun and didnt want to go. After getting changed and all packed up for my first workout in a long time we had to go home because there is nothing else for a five year old to do here! I asked about swimming lessons and with two left in the session they said I would have to pay the entire session or wait until the next one! Im actually so sad about this experience as Ive heard so many great reviews.
Helpful and friendly staffMy daughter attends the summer day camp and she really enjoys the activities. The young lady at the front desk was extremely kind and patient with helping me to register my daughter for camp.
I have been a member of the Y of Central Maryland (Weinberg Center) for about five or six years. I mostly enjoy the experience, but I have a minor complaint about the inconsistent closing time and closing routine at the Weinberg Ctr. Sometimes the workout area closes fifteen minutes early; sometimes it closes five minutes early. On my last visit (Sept. 23), closing time was 6:45 pm. On some Saturdays, the closing time is 7:00 pm and patrons are allowed to remain in the workout area until 6:55 pm. I mentioned the inconsistency to the people at the front desk and to the staff person in the fitness area. The people at the desk said it has always been 6:45 pm and dismissed the issue. The person in the fitness area said she was simply following instructions. I would like to see the closing time posted in the workout area and communicated to the staff and patrons so that we are all clear on what we should do. Patrons deserve consistency so we can plan our visits and workout. We want to follow the rules, but rules need to be clear.
It really is deeper at the YMCA I been a member for 12 years and I still love it.
How much does it cost to get in without a membership
I love going to the YMCA at Waverly!
Pathetic. The gym is scheduled to close at 10 on Friday. My son was told he had to leave and the doors were locked behind him at 9:35. When I arrived to pick him up he was sitting outside, alone in the dark. These people have no regard for the safety of children and seem to close at random times. I wonder if their donors are aware of how this place is being operated. I certainly plan to let them know.
The staff is what makes this place for me. Most of them are so friendly and will go the distance to help you...of course, as is the case with everyplace, there are a few that just shouldnt work with the public. The gym itself seems well kept and clean. Rarely is workout equipment broken, and if so, not for long. The free weight area is a little too small for the amount of people that use it. If you are a treadmill runner...you shouldnt have a problem finding a free one.Pool, sauna, basketball courts, and climbing wall as well. Got kids - there is stay and play options for family members - 90 minutes of daycare while you work out.
I love the YMCA
The Wavery Y is the best! I love how friendly and welcoming all the staff are. I love all the classes (especially Cardio Dance with Donette!) and the general atmosphere.
Learning to swim is a happy experience here.
We had an awful experience with swim lessons there. My 3 year old was left unattended in the deep end where he actually went under the water and couldnt get to the surface while the instructor had his back turned and then later in the same lesson was left entirely by himself with no adult or even other kids in the pool. My kid was the only one in the class so its not like the instructor was distracted. Totally unsafe and terrifying. I would not recommend the swim lessons. The swim director was however very apologetic and gracious when I complained and unenrolled my son.
Friendly, helpful staff. Great facility with ample equipment
Great staff and wonderful clean facilities.
I love this Y! Its my favorite one in Baltimore.
The total atmosphere here is Great
I go there I swimI ride the bike and Ill run and I lift weights and I love it
I love weinberg Y. The staff is awesome, the facility is clean and my daughter loves it there! Happy to be apart of something so great.
It is a GREAT place, and so worth my membership.
Today was my second day in the fitness room the staff was very helpful and patient with me the welcoming staff and front desk staff was very helpful to
I try for three times per week and usually get two
Great looking place with lots of activities. Elephant in the room: $10 for daily non-member access to the basketball court omg???? Why so expensive???
Very comfortable place to work out. Everyone gets along and it is very welcoming.
The Evening staff needs to control the noise in the weight room the abuse of equipment, people dropping 300 + hundred pounds on the floor. As well they need to control and monitor the young people that enter the weight room whom should be supervise by parental guardian or place in the nursery. Your evening staff tends to let members get out of control with little to no correction.
Absolutely the best Y I have ever been to!!
The Y is great. I love how well maintained everything is and mad shout out to Dara, who not only helped me with my FitQuest plan, but has shown me how to work a few machines that i didnt have a clue about without making me feel embarrassed or like a dork for having to ask!
I love it the staff is awesome and its clean...and the location is very convenient
Its a good place for the family. There is a pool. A gym. A lobby.
The Staff is the bomb and cool diverse group of Members, Love this place !
Like Theres services. Staff cares about people. Thank you for your services.
Great place love it
An excellent place to work out. The facility is clean and staff are helpful.
Great staff and wonderful community location!
This Y is a huge asset to the community. Wonderful staff too.
My favorite gym
Im comparison to other Y gyms this is more like a after school rec center. Great basketball court but the gym is noticeably small.
Great place.
The gym is clean but need more free weights
I love the pool
Awesome staff!
Love this Y!
Went here from out of town to swim - pool sucked .... too shallow and dimly lit in the early morning hours
Staff operates in excellence.
