I was glad to be able to get to see a movie in the theater. Service was great. Bartender great. The only down side was I ordered the guacamole and chips. Chips were horrible.. Tjeyve obviously gone to a different brand. Bummer

I liked the atmosphere here. Cool idea to have food and drinks when youre watching a movie. I didnt particularly like the sound system though. When youre watching loud action movies you can hear the sound system popping. Still recommend though if youre not a sound snob like me lol

Comfortable and no matter where u sit u have the best seat in the house. Food is expensive but for once u can overpay for food at a movie theater and get high quality food.... not rubbery 9$ hot dogs.... everything I have tried there was beyond expectation. They have amazing food!

Ordered food which took forever to get. Even had an item refunded because they had closed up thatsection. OH! and now they charge $1.00 for TAP WATER. It get its hard times but really $1.00 for TAP? I guess I’ll bring my own water for now on and eat before I come.

I won VIP tickets for the Avengers Infinity War from 93.1. It definitely was a great experience! The theater is so beautiful and clean. There are like 100 staff members. Everyone greets you as you walk by or they say things like I hope you enjoy the movie, have a great time, things like that. You walk in, someone directs you to which room to go to. They give you a wrist band if you are over 21 for drinks. You go to the theatre room and there are big comfy chairs with a rotating tray and cup holder. The chairs also recline which was amazing during the movie. The food was so good. We got free food and soft drinks which made it even better! It took maybe 20 min to receive our food. There are call buttons on each tray, you press it an associate comes right away. The only CON is that the servers are going back and forth throughout the movie. The movie was great, the experience was great.

So great to be back at the movies!!! Great customer service, good popcorn and great movie! Only 4 of us in the theater ... I hope you all start frequenting again to support these businesses... all employees wore masks... all was very clean!!

Movie was fun, food was good, the people serving our food were very fast and friendly. However, about 30 minutes into the movie, my husband got called into surgery and had to leave. I gave him his ticket and he adamantly left. Eventually, his part of the surgery was over and he finally was able to come back to his family and his dinner waiting for him at Studio Movie Grill. Except, he almost didnt get back in, because when he finally got back, the manager/owner (I dont know, he WAS wearing a special shirt) did some gesture with his hands telling my husband no, we are closed. Which my husband of course responded by saying I have a ticket and my family is in there, (shows the ticket through the glass doors). Instead of the man walking over to the doors and welcoming my husband back, he tells him Fine, I will let you in, but dont do that again.........what? Dont do what again? Get called into surgery? So my husband tells that man something similar to that and walks back into the theater, sits down, eats a few bites of food and the movie is over about 10 minutes later. My husband spent over 100 dollars at Studio Movie Grill tonight, all thanks to going to getting called into surgery. Also, I am giving the experience three stars because of servers, and the fact that the theater was open in the first place.

Ate and drank at this movie theater! The movie was awesome and the staff was awesome. No complaints to the cleanliness of the place.Reason for 3/5 is 2 things...1. Very expensive. I love the combo of dinner drinks and a movie all at the same time but it definitely wasnt worth $100 for two meals and two alcoholic beverages.2. The chairs arent the most comfy chairs in the movie theater market. They dont recline in a comfy way and they are semi difficult to recline.If you have the money for an expensive date night then I would suggest this place, but I probably wont be going back. Ill take a regular theater!

We ordered food at 4:47pm. At 6:15pm I asked where my food was and they said they’re still working on it. Needless to say we never got our foods. A two hour movie and food was never delivered. Be sure to eat before you go there or don’t order food at all.

Still my favorite place to see movies. They even offer the impossible and black bean burger options. Fries are pretty good too. Just be willing to pay extra for any sauce you want. Like they say in econ, captive audience. Other than that, seats are great. Food comes on time. No complaints.

I feel like the service used to be better here than it has the last couple times I have been here. I always enjoy the reclining chairs and huge gaps in the aisles. We only ordered a water, specialty alcohol drink for Birds of Prey, Dr. Pepper and potato skins. It wasnt busy and we got our food almost at the same time as the non alcoholic beverages. It took over 30 minutes to get the alcoholic drink, and I had to ask again for it.

Great place for a date night. The food is decent, but try to watch a movie thats a bit more for adults. Ive noticed that the restaurant type setting makes people talk a bit more and less likely to watch their kids. I still enjoyed it, but for someone who wants a quiet movie, you might not prefer it.

Im not a big fan of movies or theaters as I used to be, however that didnt stop me from enjoying the hospitality of this place. Because of the food ordering and eating, it takes an extra 30min-1hr, excluding the movie. Youll be comfortable, but be prepared to sit there for at least 3 hours.

Its different a movie and dinner all together. The price are ridiculous. But Tuesday the movie tickets are 5 dollars which is cool. I just wish they had a point system setup. Food was good and drinks were good

I love the 5 dollar Tuesday option at this theater because the seating is so nice. I also love getting the Thai chili chicken strips tossed in the sauce. The food is expensive, but its good. This is the go-to theater for my family in Bakersfield.

Great movie theater. They also offered a menu that was a large step up from other theaters. You could order a snack, a fully loaded snack, or even a full meal. Prices were great. Customer service was great. If you ever get the chance to try one out you should definitely go.

This was the most fun Ive had for an evenings entertainment in a long time. Get there an hour before your film so you have time to order and eat most of it before the lights go down. The food was surprisingly tasty, and the menu is small enough that its not too hard to find what you like. On the down side, there were no refills for the largest soda or popcorn sizes. #RespectTheTradition

Weve been here twice and we really like it. Customer service and the food are great. We ordered and the food came out in a timely manner. On our second trip we had the popcorn, meat lovers pizza and margherita pizza. The margherita pizza was bomb!

Food is amazing I was very impressed. I expected it to be a over priced meal and under deliver on quality but its actually really good. Plus the seats are great, the people are all very nice.

While I would make this a 5 star review, I can not due to a manager I met today. Casey was the most unprofessional and highly negative to each of her employees. I was trying to be understanding because Corporate was in; however, it’s discouraging as a customer to witness someone like Casey, who is a manager, drill the bartender (who was doing everything he was asked) with intense micromanagement. I also witness Casey deny another employee their check “because corporate is in” and “he should know not to come in to get his check when it’s ‘busy’”, followed by being upset that he stayed in the building for 2 plus hours waiting for it. What really shook me was as I was leaving, I walked up to another employee to meet her and introduce myself since I was starting to come in more frequently. While exchanging just a few short words with this employee, Casey had the audacity to approach us and scold the employee for “talking to me for to long when she should be cleaning” which I responded “she’s talking to a customer”. Mind you I personally watched this employee clean the entire time of my visit. Casey is a perfect example of why good employees quit their jobs. Not one time did I hear Casey say something positive or encouraging to any of her employees. Not one time did Casey become personable with me or any of the other customers like corporate or the other employees had while I was there. I could tell each of the employees were normally treated like this by her and none of them were enjoying their job in the slightest, which is not the atmosphere, I as a customer, want to spend my money at. If not for the employees, I would not come back to this establishment nor would recommend anyone to work here because Casey.

Always a good spot for movies and drinks, the only theater we go to since its open. Seth was our bartender last night, he was nice and got drinks out quick &cold. They are always clean and have good food. We love the potatoe skins. Definitely recommend this theater. Best in Bakersfield.

Edit: I have a major complaint that has arisen over the last four or five visits to SMG. While I typically love everything about this place, the bathrooms are never clean anymore! After going last night and tonight, I can honestly say you can smell the bathrooms from the entryway to the theaters. Which is disgusting because those smells have to pass the kitchen to get to the hallways. Ill re-rate on my next GOOD visit......My family and I love this place. Not only do you get to dine while you watch a movie, but you get to relax in reclining seats that are actually comfortable. The venue is typically nice and clean, though as it becomes later in the evening, that can change quickly. The food is good, too - weve ordered pizza, burgers, hummus, chicken strips, margaritas, coffee and weve always been happy!

I truly do like this place. I would give a 4 based on the food, service and experience. Unfortunately the last 3 times Ive gone, the restrooms are awful. The toilets dont flush. Not automatically and not when you push the button. It smells like urine and is really unpleasant. Dirty bathrooms in a restaurant environment is just not ok.

This place doesnt have the best seats and not the best sound, but overall this is the best place to watch a movie and get your grub on. All at a relatively fair price, which I cant say for 95% of the theaters Ive been to. Sound system is good, seats are really good, and the variety of food and drinks you are able to get here are great, and the best part is that they bring them to you. No need to rush out and get more food or wait in line for that. You can just sit and relax. And the way the food is priced is similar to other theaters but instead of just being able to get a popcorn and a drink, you are able to get burgers, fries, and even a bento box at a similar price point. This theater is great for those that usually go out to eat before or after a movie.

I love watching movies here as they have large chairs so I dont feel claustrophobic. Their food is OK. I think a little over priced for what you get, but I get it, its the experience youre paying for. I used to LOVE their avocado toast....but they started using guacamole with jalapenos in it so you cant taste the balsamic or other nice flavors....only hot jalapenos. I wont be ordering it anymore! I also dont get why they bring the checks out at the climax of the movies ending! Sometimes Ive missed important words or actions pertaining to the movies ending. There has to be a better way of distributing the checks. Over all I love watching movies here.

My wife and I have been here twice and both experiences have been great. Theres one thing that bothered me, and it was that someone took their menus into the bathroom with them. Thats not any fault of theirs, so no points off. Just be aware and wash your hands after ordering.The food is excellent. Collectively weve had pizza, edamame, burgers, and wings. All have been great and would recommend any of them.

This is the most unprofessional work environment ever. They hire people and dont give them hours. They belittle their employees. They talk about and bash them to other employees and they like to keep the hours for the people who know what they are doing. The fact that people have lives and bills just like you and your not giving them chance to make a cent it is pretty sad. Get new managers that actually care. Not greedy ones.

Probably the best in Bakersfield. However, the food is terribly mediocre. Ours came out cold. Moreover, the leg rests on the reclining theater seats are very short. If you’re over about 5’5” you’re going to have a lot of leg hanging over. I’m 6’ and the rest hit me a little past mid-calf. Very uncomfortable for me, so I kept the rest down.

Overall a great experience, and a one of a kind for the area. The seats are extremely comfortable and spaced apart great. It is a very relaxing setup and really enhances your movie experience. It is very clean, Ive literally never seen it dirty and I go here often. The service is great as well, I usually sit at the bar for a little before going in to my movie. The bartenders and servers are very friendly and make great drinks. There are specials every day of the week and a happy hour too ! Lots of great deals suprisingly. The food was pretty tasty, not phenomenal but definitely a major step up from your normal movie theater meals. Honestly, I was surprised at how similar the prices are to their competitors, who also dont offer the same amenities. I would recommend here before any other theater in Bakersfield. My only suggestion is for more of a selection on movie times. I understand its probably hard because the theater is on the smaller side, but its weird how only 2 movies will be offered in a whole day.

1917 was great movie. With food, good but got entree first then when asked about our appetizer they went and got it. So food got cold while we ate appetizer first. Poor planning on their side

I have been to other Studio Movie Grill locations and been treated MUCH better. The food was fine but this location doesnt serve drinks before 11, requires wristbands be obtained outside the theater (all of which is not mentioned). My foot was hit 3 times with no apology. Probably wont go again.

First time Ive been there. The theaters are very nice. You pay for the movie. We paid online about 20 to 30 minutes before the movie starts. You go there check in and Get seated. There is a button on a swing table. You press it. A waiter or waitress comes to your seat. Your seats are numbered, so they know who to go to. You can order food and drinks before or during the movie. Plus if your an adult. You can order a frosty beverage. In my opinion the Studio Movie Grill is the best. It beats out every other movie place in bakersfield.

We have been here several times since moving back to Bakersfield. Every visit has been on point. Today was no exception. This has become our go to theater for movie dates. Comfy chairs, great food, friendly staff, clean restrooms, all around great place.

Definitely a cool take on dinner and a movie. Came in got a drink waited a few minutes and we as a family were taken to the theater and it was super cool to see there friendly staff and their beautiful set up. They did make sure we knew what to do and how to order. The food was great. We got Nachos, mac and cheese, a nice burger. Everyone loved it. My son said he did not like the fries, that they were soggy. But that brisket though... super awesome. We will be back. Thank you!

They dont really pay attention to details like napkins or serving everyone at the same time, and sometimes the time to serve takes forever but is definitely above expectations and the best place to watch a movie here!

My sliders were a little bland and dry but ok. The fries were good though. A little pricey but nice to have regular food while seeing a new movie. The seats and table set up is cool and I like having the call button so if you need something. I would definitely go again, but its one of those things you do on occasion instead of all of the time.

Due to the name, I thought this place would be a challenge to tackle, from where & how to buy tickets, to the lounge area, but it wasnt. The place is cozy with this really cool dark vibe. Staff members were friendly and helpful. It was a breeze ordering from my seat, same with paying. It really isnt an interpretation when the waiters brings you your order. Theres enough space for them and you (even if youre reclined). When we mentioned how stale our was, they quickly brought out a fresh bag without hesitation. Seats are comfortable; Its a simple push off the floor to recline the chair if youre over 55 but a bit difficult for us 54 under people. I would have been nice to just have a button to recline. Overall, movie display and sound were great. I look forward to going back.

Enjoyed the bar before going in to see the movie the aisles in the seating area are spacious and youre not seated so close to the person next to you. I enjoyed the movie, sound and picture quality.

What can I say I just love this place. It is very nice the meals are great as well as the drinks. Unlike most theaters and spending to much money on junk then going out to eat after the movies well now you can do it here saving you alot more money. Way more. The drinks are great especially on their deal days. Hot damn. Also unlike most movie places this doesnt get as packed so the kids who like to come in and ruin it by talking doesnt happen due to the size and the waiters and waitress walking in and out and the chairs are very comfortable. The service is outstanding and great. Most go to and check it out if you havent yet. Love going to the movies again.

Was an usher at age 18 at L A . SMG is a favorite of my wife n I . Great to lay back in a comfy lounge chair, watch a movie .Maybe order good food or drink from the comfy seat . Someone responds to a button call to take the order n bring it all back .( decent bar/drinks too )Could have used this years ago .But real good in 2020 .

Would be five stars but this is the second time we have gone and the second time we have received no fork to eat the salad that came with the chicken and shrimp dishes. Ate it with my finger :-)

Always have a good time here. Service is great and pretty fast for how busy it is. Me and my husband love going on Thursdays for the $5 desserts, i recommend the brownie sundae!

Its always kind of a coin toss when we go here. Sometimes the food and drink service is fast and the food is hot.... Other times you wait for what seems like forever to get your order and then its barely warm. The staff is usually really nice, so no major issue there. The ladies restrooms are usually pretty dirty and poorly lit. I have even seen a toilet paper holder being held together with packing tape...Overall, not great but not completely horrible.

I like the atmosphere and the the handle food service really well. But, getting someone to answer the phone there is nearly impossible sometimes. I left my sunglasses in the theater yesterday and I called them four times (the first time no more than 15 minutes after Id left the theater) and not once did a person actually answer the phone, even when I selected the option to speak to someone. I was told they were busy with other customers, but it was dead when I left and the live Google chart showing how busy they are confirmed that it was unusually slow.I left a detailed message with the the theater number, seat numbers, and movie time showing, but never even received a call back. Im going to try again today, but given the amount of time that has passed and the fact I couldnt get someone on the phone when they were not busy leads me to think the likelihood that Ill get them back is fairly low, but I hope Im wrong and some actually answers the phone today.

For a 1st timer, it was a good experience. Walking through the dark hallway feels like your waking into a club. Seats were comfortable but not as roomy as the luxury seats at other cinemas. Also, the seats manually recline instead of being automatic (which didnt make a difference for me). Isles to seats are little narrow. Certain entrees are pricey. We tried their popcorn with dill spice and it was delicious. Served with a side of extra butter (which didnt need it). Didnt buy alcohol, since I was already drinking at home before the show. All in all, it was a great experience. Always a first time for everything.

Me and my girlfriend really enjoy our movie nights out here, our first experience was horrible, but she likes 2nd chances so we tried it again and the service stepped their game up and was really good. The food here is amazing it does taste commercial and taste like fresh food. The setup and layout is actually not bad for a service dine in theatre. Good date night spot.

Great service when we sat in the actual theater but service in the bar area wasnt good at all. If I could give stars for each it would be one star for the bar staff and 5 for the theater staff. We waited 20 min before our movie with our red light on at the end of our table and never got one person. Managers passed, different staff passed as well as the bar waitress and not even a Ill be right with you. So ya if I could do 2.5 stars thats what it would be.

It’s on the pricier side of movie theaters but the comfort and service makes up for it. The lazy boy type of chairs are comfortable and definitely allow for you to relax after a long day/week. I recommend the chicken nachos and their ice cream.

Different than your everyday movie theater for sure. You order your tickets online ahead of time or from a kiosk when you arrive (saves you $ for the online fee). There isnt the typical concession counter in the main lobby. Instead there is a bar for ordering mixed drinks and adult beverages. After printing your tickets, the attendant hands you menus then you proceed to your show. The 2 auditoriums weve been in all seats were recliners and well spaced for your comfort. Theres a button on each armrest that you push to request a waiter after deciding what to order. There is a great selection of sports bar type food, drinks and desserts to choose from, its reasonably priced and quite good, in addition to the standard popcorn and soft drinks. Your popcorn comes with a side cup of melted butter NOT OIL for you to flavor as you like.There is a huge wait staff here and ours have been friendly, attentive and fast with our order both times.Tickets are very reasonable with different specials every day and all this for what Id consider a high end cinema!While we didnt enjoy our first movie we saw here (knives out, a 3 hour borefest) Star Wars the next evening was great fun! The sound system here really adds to the experience.Overall we highly recommend this theater and well be regulars here!

I usually buy a beer and order something light. This time my order was late. They actually had forgotten about it. My son ordered mac and cheese and it tasted sour. We were told the manager would have to come up and talked to us. He/ she never did. Again we waited for another server and we were told the previous server went home. We were offered the comp for the meal. We were the last ones to leave the auditorium.

Great movie theatre. Still new and there may be some hiccups but other than that no complaints. Easy to get in and out of. Plenty of other restaurants if you dont want to have food there, but process are reasonable for food and drinks. They have daily deals as well.

Cool experience to have food before the show. Staff did a good job of trying not to interrupt during big scenes. Nachos were delicious and Mac n cheese was a hit with the kids.

This place will let you order literally WHATEVER then they will bring it to you fast and easy during your movie.
