Plenty of parking either in the allocated spaces or along the side of the roadways. Newer walking paths are in generally good shape and easy to traverse. While I totally get the pandemic hampers use of the grills and therefore most of the seating areas.. they look like theyll be great once its all cleaned up and made to be used again. The off-leash dog area is generally good, good people and good doggos everywhere.. you can also walk the older paths that actually take you up to where you can cross over and navigate to the new south side of Onion Creek.. this typically requires walking through some of the creek though, so dont wear your Sunday best.
Love walking my dogs here. Its getting increasingly busier, and recommend going early mornings/weekdays if you want to avoid people. Relatively clean except for a couple homeless camp areas.
Great place to take your dogs and kids. Lots of covered picnic areas. Good trails too. Only complaint is people dont pick up trash and folks use the park as a dumping ground for furniture. etc.
Found people picking up trash, that Others left ...it is beautiful! And thank you for picking up after others!
Very easy simple walk.. With a clear trail. Social distance friendly. We saw only one person from a distance. Trail is well established. Get out and enjoy life.
Lots of trails and a nice creek to play in. Trails are not well marked so it is a good idea to Mark on GPS where you are parked so you can get back to your vehicle
Great dog park with nice walking/hiking trails. One river access area for doggies to get wet and play. Lots of barbeque setups with covered patios for your family.
Good for walking. Not so much bikes. Narrow, steep trails
Big space, well away from busy roads, so great for dogs. A little creepy, with the occasional sign that this used to be a thriving neighborhood.
I love going there so peaceful
Great park trails and dog runs.
Awesome trails and dog park!
Super fun! Great with a buddy!
Great off leash dog park. Lots of space and has a well kept trail. Bring your dog if it get along with others. Please dont bring aggressive dogs here. Got lots of covered picnick areas. Strange to see housing infrastructure but its better than houses that will flood. Good dog park.
Didnt even know this place existed. Nice place to take pups.
Nice trail in Austin for a evening walk along with friends/family.
Great dog area!
Its a leashless dog park. Its ok just disappointed it was closed because of the pandemic.
Awesome trails and off leash area.
This is an off leash park. Lots of dogs on the trail and in the creek! The creek access is at the Trailhead.
Yes there was a recent rattlesnake attack at this park resulting in the death of a Min-Pin, so BE CAREFUL. I also saw a CORAL SNAKE on the trail past the creek crossing. It was a big one, on the move into the brush, so dog walkers and riders be aware, be careful! Some off leash dogs, and runners but everyone is very nice about sharing the trail. Dog people please be aware horses can get spooked by dogs that run up on them or behind them. They can also kick so please be aware and let riders know you are approaching if coming up from behind.Trails are a bit overgrown in some areas, still lots of work going on in old neighborhood. Creek was low but running!
Love coming here. Its a secret Oasis for dog lovers who like to go off leash. Its pretty well kept for the most part and the creek runs clear. Like using the trails every morning. Rarely gets crowded during the week in the mid mornings I am there. Dogs are pretty friendly all around and lots of regulars.
Great park for a walk, well maintained trails go thru lush vegetation and fields of flowers. Convenient ample parking with restrooms. Also, it’s interesting to walk along former streets of flood mitigation area, where all the great trees are still in place, but houses are gone and streets turned into wide alleys with rest areas and playgrounds on the sides. (Talking about Onion Creek Metropolitan Park, if its the same)
Great place to relax
Easy to keep my social distance
This park is my favorite in Austin! it’s never too crowded, has a couple of great water spots for your dog, and beautiful trails and trees. I tried going to auditorium shores this morning and I don’t think I’ll ever go again after finding onion creek. Definitely check it out!
Too many lips. Not enough chips!!!
Looks like a popular place for off-leash activities, but if youre not a dog owner or dog enthusiast, not so great.
Nice large quiet area park with dog walk and restrooms
Well it aint pretty but theres alot of dog running space. The dogs there seemed pretty friendly as well. Be responsible and bring your leash, water and bowl.
Love it. Never to crowded
Great place to get away
Love the way they are fixing up the place. Great spot for barbeques with family friends and your pets.
Christy came across a beautiful place..again..we had been here before but things have changed with time..I love watching her explore and ask questions..Does make us realize though that time ticks on and little good things are precious..I Love you Christy..she pauses..Looks..I Love you John..even got some kisses today..
Great place for a mid day hike. You can even rest by the river and enjoy time with other hikers, people are usually nice in this area
Great place to have the dogs off leash and take a hike or swim
This is one of my ultimate favorite dog parks and now horseback riding trails
Great off-leash dog park. There is a little creek, a trail, big open space, and lots of other dogs. There is also a little play ground and plenty of covered picnic tables. I love how green it is there!
The best off leash area in South Austin
Hard work..had to put a lot of hard work in this area
I love to bring my dog here and he loves to come here. There is a nice open area for him to play in, a trail that we can walk on, water to cool down in, and there are always other dogs to play with!
Very nice and large off leash, no fence. The walk the water is very very long if you are mobility impaired... I never made it to the water, walked for 30-45 minutes then turned around. Very shaded thankfully.
Great place to bring dogs. Lots of poison ivy, but a great hike
Great quiet place to escape
Great place for dogs and families.
I love this park it is the best place for a walk
Love the creek where my dogs can Wade... The trail is beautiful, and we even had a family get together at the picnic area which was lovely
Love to walk in the park
The trail head is still being built. Needs more work. Trail is good for for dogs. Dogs are not on leash. I believe trail will improve as more and more people go there.
Great place. Its too bad that people dont clean up after their dogs. The city will close it because theres too much poop.
Beauitful place to spend time in the water .cool water, great company and scenery to die for !!!!! Awesome place !
Nice quiet ork
First off, this is a dog park and its not so great if you want to just walk on the trail.People dont follow the posted leash rules, as all of the dogs on the trail were off leash. Excessive number of dog sh!t bags are left everywhere.Poison ivy is pretty much all over the place. The trails are not paved or rock based so its very muddy recommend boots and pants. Not sure if go back.
Nice place to drive through but Im not getting out of my truck until the lawn is mowed.
This is actually a really big park with all the trails in the back, but not well kept. Trails can be very overgrown and brushy in the summer. Still pretty and lots of deer.
Spacious
Needs more lighting in all streets around the park.
Nice place to take dogs they can be off lease
This is a great trail for off leash dogs and jogging. Its quite and peaceful. Very easy walking, short trail and I prefer a bit more of challenge. That is the only reason for the 4 rating.
My dog loves this park out of all the parks in austin
FYI This is not the trailhead. Search for the trailhead for parking.
Amazing park. Location was slated for a housing development but got flooded out so now they are slowly converting it to a park. Tons of trees and trails
Best dog park to ever exist.
I absolutely love this park. There is an off leash area for dogs, trails for hiking and more improvements to come.
Great hiking experience
A great place to bring your dog for an off leash adventure
Friendly environment pet friendly
My favorite off leash dog park in the city! They have access to the greenbelt for the dog and owners to swim and have trails surrounding it!
Its the best kept secret woods,... Dog park, hike and bike trails.. Beautiful giant Cyprus trees along the creek.. Ive lived there for forty years
Enjoyable. Peaceful
Wonderful place to take the pooches.
Great little off-leash dog park. Love the trails and friendly people.
Nice environment
Its green, Its not really a belt and nature will help you commune with your inner self!
Is so beautiful
Nice to bike Riding .and. Walk the. Dog. Etc
Horrible place. not safe. lots of people dump their trash there
Great place for a run with your favorite four legged companion.
Great place for parties or picnics
Off leash for dogs, Jogging trail, path to creek, playground, water fountain for ppl and dogs and picnic tables - my dog and I love this place!
The Onion Creek Greenbelt has excellent walking paths for 2 and 4 legged friends. I would go back and explore again. The only thing I would add is public water fountains and restrooms.
Relaxing day
Beautiful place
Only creek in Austin with no people from California complaining about the dogs. Naturally beautiful.
