This pool is deep in the heart of Austin and is a beautiful location, certainly something to check from your bucket list whether being local or visiting. You have a lap pool and a childrens shallower pool, it also a well fed pool so no chlorine or any other chemicals are used and water is changed every day. It an Austin classic, you can visit and read about the pool history at a mural on site. Ice cones and convenient food is served at the entrance where there are tables to sit and eat. The rest of the pool does not allow any food or beverages except water. Enjoy the shade of great pecan trees and oaks, opens daily. There are restrooms and changing rooms on site.

This is my happy place and it has been since I was a child. There is no better feeling than being at Deep Eddy in the hot Texas summer and spending the day swimming in the cold spring water and then warming up in the grass by the pool. Movie nights are my favorite and I’ll probably keep going even when my kids are grown as long as they still have them. I really hope it opens back up soon. I’ll be first in line to get in! I LOVE YOU DEEP EDDY!!

Great outdoor pool! Looking to stay cool while in Austin? Go visit this wonderful space. The price is right and the water is so clear and cold. You are allowed to bring food, however, you will need to eat it in designated areas, you are only allowed to take water out into the grass area where people lay out. There is a small snack shop located on the property, which does offer regular/veggie hotdogs, chips,Empanadas, Drinks, and Ice cream. Parking is at a premium, you may have to find parking down the street.

Inexpensive and refreshing hidden gem in Austin for the long enduring summer heat waves. I love that the water is siphoned from Lake Austin, its very cool, not super-cool, water that cools you off from the hot humid heat. Come in earlier if you like to enjoy the pool before the swarm of families with kids come in. Find your shady spot first! Enjoy, it is worthwhile. Get your hand stamp and enjoy a hamburger at Pool Burgers north of the parking lot, or a cocktail drink, and re-enter the pool premises again for a late afternoon or early evening swim.

It was exactly what I was hoping for. Went on a cloudy morning so it wasnt busy. Great place to swim laps if you want an alternative to a chlorinated pool. Its shallow so you cant dive. The place was clean and right next to the lady bird lake trail. Perfect for training for an event with swimming and running.

If you dont want the tourists at Barton, come here. Family friendly. Tons of kids in the shallow most days. Because pool is drain and fill with no use of chlorine, they will have to close shallow periodically when kids vomit or eliminate. Lap lanes always busy but you can share lanes. Plenty of lawn and shade. Snack vender inside. Hike and bike trail connection. Parking is tough so ride your bike in. Summer movie nights are a blast. Watch out for fire ants by following the rules and not eating food or spilling drinks in the lawn area.

Facilities were clean and it is super easy with kids once in the pool area because of the grade of the pool but you can only access the pool through a narrow steep staircase difficult to navigate with little ones. Staff police the pool inconsistently allowing people to blatantly eat and drink while telling others no food allowed take it back up the stairs... but what about them? Help me understand! Ill always choose barton springs over deep eddy because it is natural, larger, and more relaxed.

Austins best historic swimming pool. This pool is naturally spring-fed and very cold. There is nothing like a jump in the deep end of Deep Eddy on a hot Summers Day. The pool is divided into a shallow side and a deepside for swimming Lanes . But they do reserve a section of the Deep Side for jumping off the side of the pool and free Style swimming if you dont wish to swim laps. I have taken all of my kids there as a family tradition for many years. Thank you City of Austin for maintaining this beautiful historic Park and pool.

5 stars for natural spring water would be enough to say, but the pool and park are well maintained. recently renovated changing/shower area, which is partially an outdoor (very green) area gives fun of an outdoor shower experience, and thats a plus too.$3 for adults, $1 for kids and seniors is very reasonable price to even have a 30min deep (during lunch break for example). If youre planning a swim with kids, I would recommend this place in the late afternoon, after 4 when then sun sets behind the big trees on the west side of the pool, which gives very nice shade over shallow water of kids pool. even on the hottest day at 5pm you wont feel hot there - kids pool is a zero entry kind, so you can just sit in the water and watch your kids playing.

Deep Eddy is spring-fed city pool just outside downtown Austin. With a consistently chill temperature and crystal clear water, Deep Eddy is a great alternative for those who find Barton Springs to be a bit too natural. The pool is quite roomy, with a good sized shallow end, great for little kids or sunbathing. There are also designated lanes for swimming laps. Be sure to check out the gorgeous Austin-themed mosaic when you visit.

Whats better than 65-degree water on a 110-degree day? Not much. Hence the $3 charge. without it, this place would be filled to the brim with dirty bathers. Instead, its just half-filled with dirty bathers. But it feels so refreshing. The water is shocking at first, but you can get used to it after a minute. Just stick your feet in and you can cool your entire body down pretty quickly. Quintessential Austin!

Deep Eddy is one of the lesser known swimming holes in Austin. Sure theres Barton Springs, but if you dont want seaweed caressing your legs or massive crowds splashing around, try Deep Eddy. Spring-fed from the Colorado River, Deep Eddy offers swimmers of all ages a place to cool off. There is a deep end and shallow end, divided by swimming lanes. If all the lanes are filled up, just ask a swimmer, they should be more than happy to share! Lets not forget to mention the beautiful mosaic they have on the west end of the park. Deep Eddy is a more low key place to beat the heat.

Much smaller, less crowded and family friendly than Barton Springs pool, Deep Eddy is a great place to relax for a picnic (they allow food unlike Barton Springs) and you can even swim laps in lanes in the deep end.Naturally spring fed but with a concrete bottom, you wont run into the seaweed like you will at Barton Springs either.

The renovated bath house is a spectacular, open-air space. You can swim and then shower and get ready for a night out, all in the same place. The pool itself is well cared for and the grounds are beautiful. And even on crowded days, the pool doesnt seem packed because of its quite generous size.

We went there for the swim and a movie thing, to watch Indiana Jones with the family. It was pretty cool but I think we got there a little bit on the early side (although we did get a pretty decent spot), because they didnt start the movie until well after 9 oclock which was a little bit on the late side as far as I am concerned. So we ended up having to leave a little bit early because our kids were so burnt out.

Our first time at Deep Eddy and had a great time. The kids had never seen a pool so big. The freezing cold water was perfect after a hot and humid hike at Barton Springs. There was a good number to lifeguards and they were doing their job. They werent slacking on the job at all. Nothing happened while we were there but I could tell they were watching and making sure everyone was being safe. Fun place to visit if youre ever in Austin and looking for a nice cool dip.

We love going swimming in the natural feed pool at Deep Eddy on a hot summer day. The water is always in the 70s which makes for a cool dip even in 100 degree weather. During July months, they have a Summer Splash Movie night which the kids love!! Take your picnic and have fun with the family!!!
