Okay, hear me out on this. We like this place, and Weve been here several times before. But heres the thing. Our youth group made a reservation here about a month ago, For 1:00. We showed up, and nobody was there, The doors were still locked. We figured, okay, they might just be setting up in there. So we waited. For thirty minutes. Still, nothing. We knocked on the doors several times, Even tried to call them. No answer. So we left, and went bowling instead. We love skating here, but they kinda just left us hanging that day. Its okay though. We had fun bowling.
You want to know the whole truth....Keep reading this Review. I had the opportunity to stop by Skate Zone Inc. formerly known as Epic Skatez. Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile by the Young Lady at the front.Once, I entered The Rink I met the owner Mr. Ray. He was was very personable, and expressed gratitude for me coming out. He was very hands on with all aspects of the rink. Safe fun was his main objective, and it was carried out.The Music was definitely the highlight of the night!! This rink played real music that you can actually skate to.(Unlike 99.9% of other skating rinks) A wide-variety, and it was JAMMING! I had never heard a complete playlist like that!! Slow, fast, 80s etc...It was JAMMING.
Worst experience ever. Walked in after paying $30 for me, my husband, and my 12 year old son. The skates were so bad they were literally falling apart, no ankle support and the brake bumpers were missing from the skates. We each tried on 3 separate pairs. The lockers used to store your personal items are all broken with quarters stuck in them to where you can’t use them. Finally found one with no coin stuck in it and closed it and the key would not come out. The lady had to give me another 50 cents to use another one. The skates were so messed up and broken that we couldn’t even find a decent pair to skate in. We took them off and turned them in and went to the owner with our concerns who flat out refuses to refund us our money even though we were only there for 7-10 minutes. Will NEVER go there again. They need to fix their skates and all their uneven flooring.
Its a great place to go have fun with friends with good music and environment
Always a fight outside when I pick up my kids. So they dont go anymore.
I really think that Skate Zone is an awesome place for skating!! They serves birthday parties, beginner skating, and more! I mean you could possibly request a song if its not too dirty. I mean if I was older I would definitely recommend myself taking my children!
Very out dated! Staff was awesome, owner was sweet and nice.. Need improvements and work.. Need to replace all skates the laces and wore out and my daughters skates what missing the front stoper! I remember going as a teen 12 years ago and it was always slammed, had great music and the skates were top notch! They need to step up their game and maybe make a few changes.
OK, this place is to the point. Its certainly not new. The skate floor shows its age. But for what the facility lacks the staff makes up for. Yes, they have rules, they have standards and it keeps out the riffraff. Outside the building I felt just a little concerned. Inside I didnt at all. The place was pretty cheap, that is why I went. My expectations were low and the staff exceeded them by a huge margin. Super friendly. The kids loved it. I wish there were more places like this around.
Last night I had a birthday party for my daughter 13th birthday. The manager was so rude and tried to kick out three of the kids, including the birthday girl because the came off the skating floor during a dice game. Why because he was talking to everyone as if they were stupid. He doesnt know how to deal with kids. He tried to tell us when to eat our nasty pizza and when to do laser tag. He talks to the kids direct instead of talking to the parent. He yelled at the kids, move move get out the way! Its sad how disrespectful he is...very unprofessional. Im sure others have experienced the disrespect. We will never step foot back in their. There was a total of 26 people with us. All parents have been advised. No one will be returning. Theres a leak in the roof and he had a bucket in the middle of the skating rink floor to catch the water. Oh my Lord forgive the kid he knocked the bucket over. He yelled everyone off the floor now!!!!! I hate to mentioned there were only 3 employees including him. Imagine the customer service. Hes the DJ and managing (yelling at people children)! There was two other employees, the guy with the glasses was so respectful, but the female is young and unprofessional with the black and white stripe pants/jeans girl bye! Im letting youll know if you have a party here you will be upset. Its not worth it...Im telling you. The place is dirty:restrooms, floors, kitchen, its nasty overall in there, and the service is beyond disgusting.
It is so fun I try to go every weekend with my friend and we have the best time ever.
The hours of this skating rink is incorrect. They are open on the weekends. Google really needs to update this information. I go there every weekend and really enjoy myself. The negative reviews are from teenagers who do not like the follow rules. The dress code! If you are in town you should really take the kids and visit this place. It is awesome!!
We wanted to take our granddaughters skating. But when we tried to call the guy who answered was rude. Even called the police saying we were harassing him. Well we can ask simple questions. About hours, cost for skates. Etc. Harder ones just made him mad. Sorry, weve decided not to bother.
Wish I could have rated this a 0. This place is a joke and needs shut down. My wife and I took our 7 year old here for the first and last time. Hours say 7-11. They didnt even open the doors until 7:20. It cost 2 adults and a child $27. Went in and went to get skates, my wife was yelled at twice by the kid behind the counter for not having her arm band on even though it was clearly in her hand. We were then yelled at by a young girl for sitting our shoes on the bench seat next to us while we were putting on our skates. I went to take a lap and discovered the skate was messed up while my wife got yelled at about me having a hat on. I stopped for a few seconds to tell my wife something and got yelled at for stopping. My child was very nervous as it was her first time and was leaning on the wall for support. She was yelled at about leaning on the wall. I went to get a set of inline skates for an upgraded price no big deal. Went back to the guy to get them, they had 1 pair and were completely beyond usable. Broken straps and all. Then they tried to give me a pair that was 3 sizes to small. Then a pair 3 sizes to big which I considered until I realized they were also broken.Dont waste your money.
My nephews birthday party went off without any issues, and all the kids had a blast in the laser tag. Pizza and wings were great (wings better) and overall staff was very helpful and attentive.
They charge you full price. Then close half hour early. The place looks like a bomb went off inside! Horrible!!! The only thing thats ok. Is the staff.
We had a terrible experience at this skating rink... they did not have a single pair of skates in my daughters size or the two sizes closest to hers, the skates we did use were in bad condition with wheels that hardly rolled, and the floor was in need of repair. We asked for a refund 15 minutes after arriving and they refused.
The owner is very mean and very rude if the children get caught with gum they have to pay him $2 and spit their gum out he almost wasnt going to let me go back in the building to get my daughter after I had sat in the car for 30 minutes waiting for her he told me no eventually he did let me go in hes very hard on the children the rules are very hard last week A little girl got thrown out for chewing gum and when she didnt have the $2 to pay him so she stood in the parking lot 12 years old alone for an hour before her mother got there
We came when Google said it was open, but, alas, skate zone was closed. No mention on the website, or any indication. My friend drove countless hours to join me on a daring quest, which now cannot be completed due to its untimely closing.
You guys said online it opened at 7am to 11pm today but you liked so now were going home and not coming back
The only reason I gave 1 star is because you have to. Skate Zone is absolutely HORRIBLE! I will go to Skate World from now on. I paid $11.50 admission / speed skate rental. They had 3 young girls working concession, skate booth and the floor. The place is nasty and smells like dirty grease. SKATE WORLD LAKELAND FOREVER
People that work here are very strict. They have a dress codes. really? -.- anyways, were not supposed to sag our pants. or girls cant wear booty shorts. This supposed to be a free country. And they have the worst dj ever. And the food service sucks. back then it was way funner with no dress codes.
Lazer tag was awsome
I came to this dump for my cousins birthday party. That place is in major need of renovations. Old, filthy, dirty. Also, I understand that you have to have rules in place for safety/liability reasons but some of those many rules were ridiculous. Its not even fun with the constantly yelling out rules. Which brings me to my main reason I decided to write this stay-away warning is because of that owner! What a jerk. He was sooo unprofessional, he doesnt have any people skills, he basically does everything (games, music, parties) probably because either ppl quit or hes too cheap to hire anyone. There are other skating rinks, even if you must travel a bit, its worth it to be in a nice, clean, friendly environment. Dont go here. You will be disappointed. Go skate in the park! But dont give this place your money only to get such poor treatment.**Owner: I dont need your response on my review because you proved that you dont take criticism well. You run a poor business and you need to fix this place and your pompus attitude.
The building is absolutely horrid. The entire place looks out of code. After ordering a pizza that took 45 minutes to be cooked, we recieved snack size plates and bathroom paper towels to accompany our meal. The owner yelled at my niece for exiting in the wrong spot, made her sit down next to the DJ booth, and wouldnt allow her to get up. It was her 1st time at a skating rink, and she wasnt very aware of the rules. He yelled at her over the loudspeaker that you can barely hear, and proceeded to tell me that she was disrespectful. He doesnt seem to want or need any business.
I had my daughters b day there it was very fun
If you want a good place to skate go to skate world or skate reflection in kisimme. This place is a joke, there is nothing good, to go there staring with the manager. Worst place 3 years ago was aceptable but now this place is death
The manger has an, I dont need your business attitude. Very strict and rigid and not very business savvy in that, EVERYONE NEEDS BUSINESS not to mention loyal customers and positive word of mouth advertising. I paid over 400$ for the worst birthday party my daughter has ever had/attended. The reason we chose this place is the laser tag. The day of the party, which was scheduled 2-5pm which no one got in to the building until at least 215, I was told by the manger that laser tag was broken. I was angry but I just asked that he give us extra pizza instead. It costs very little to make pizza and I would have paid the full price for the laser tag party and been happy. But no, he was so afraid that I was going to get something I wasnt entitled to he made me choose another party package and then he nickle and dimed me and my guests the entire party. He wouldnt even let the employees get us water at the party table until it was time for the kids to eat. He needs help, I had a guest waiting outside for fifteen minutes before she and her kids were let into the party. He bikered and argued with my guests (which I agree were being a little more rude that they should have been after they thought they were being discriminated against) he even threatened me that he would call the police and have my guests taken out. I thought that was quite extreme for an eight year olds party. Its really too bad because I have plenty of conversations about kids parties with other parents and my daughter loves to skate and shes only getting better. He really probably cost himself at least 1000$ in future revenue by not providing the expected experience and a reasonable resolution to problems like broken laser tag.
Was not impressed. Run down, crappy environment. I miss the roller rinks of old. Like most things of that era - slow and death of a once great thing.
The manager is rude and doesnt communicate well at all. He poured all my party goers drinks out without any warning then proceeds to tell me he dont care and doesnt need our business. By far the worse skating rink I or my family and friends have ever been too. We will NEVER return. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!
Freindly staff not too crowded
The music was ok last night and yeah I like the private things you did for QCR but I dont like the floor cause it looks faded and old like you guys should refinish or coat the floor again cause its too slippery and for those that go slow when they roll their wheels like get stuck because of the waves on the floor so yeah you have to flatten the floor out, and also my dad screwed his ankle at your rink because of it so yeah fix the floor the music was good/ok though and the hospitality was very chill
Daughter like her party but it was alot of extra cost adults not skating had to pay to be there and party was till 11 but ask to leave 15 mins early I hate to give a bad review but we wont be returning to this place.
It was just a waste of money, it has a dress code before you go in and youre getting yelled at for no reason felt like school again haha we left and went to skate world in Lakeland lease we can skate there with shorts on.
This skating rink is a joke. They are constantly barking out orders: no sunglasses, hats, or cellphones on the rink. No stopping on the wall - keep moving. You passed the exit by 2 feet- you cant turn around and go back- you have to keep going around again. If you fall, and youre not hurt, you need to get back up quickly. They are constantly telling the little ones to get off the walls. If you get a table right beside the rink wall, youd BETTER not stop for a quick drink, or to tell your parent something, or even HOLD ONTO THE WALL WHILE SKATING in order to keep your balance. Granted, none of these things theyre barking about were that serious- sometimes when a kid falls, they have to take a couple seconds to gather their wits and balance before getting back up. My children did NONE of these things- so Im not being defensive. I was just literally shocked by their lack of customer relations, and found it very annoying and frustrating. They literally stop the music every 10 minutes to bark out more orders and re-state the ridiculous rules over the loud speakers. Save yourself the horrible experience, and go to Skate World in Lakeland. In Lakeland, you can walk on the rink in your sneakers to help your little ones, you can take video of your kids with your cell while they skate, and the management really goes out of their way to make your experience enjoyable, unlike here. Zero stars.
After driving from south lake Wales to Auburndale sitting outside for an hour for them to open at 1:00 paying for 3 kids to skate then being told to leave at 1:58 because its just not enough people skating for them to be open and a refund was not possible ! But here is a free pass for another time that you can only use during theses certain hours.
What a joke my daughter goes there on friday as every teenage kid does in auburndale well tonight their wasnt enough people there to stay open so Mr Ray decided to close early so instead of 11pm he closed at 10pm well thats fine and All good but he put my child out and 3 others with no way to call and let someone know they were done so they sat in the parking lot until a parent got there with a phone at 10:50 and on top of it all when he left he told the children that they could not stay in his parking lot or he would call the police that they needed to go somewhere ... what kinda business is he running i livid he is in the business to have children at his establishment and he doesnt care what happens to them ..
It was good but I fell on my bum
Im giving this 1 star only because I cant give it no stars. Took our kids to go skating for the first time and made the horrible decision to go to Skate Zone. My fiancee grew up skating here, and was absolutely appalled by what it is now. I myself was severely angered by the service we recieved. I waited FIFTEEN minutes for my skate rental, and still had to go hunt someone down to get them for me. Fot the first hour, none of the striped shirt employees were even on the rink, and then they proceeded to tell my 8 year old over the loud speakers in front of everyone that she couldnt skate along the wall. Then to beat all, they killed the music, turned on the lights and the manager proceeded to tell us that if a child couldnt hold their balance well, to make room for the experienced skaters and practice in a 6 x 25 square area, that contained no less then 10 other kids. We are locals to this skating rink, and frequent places regularly. Needless to say, given the fact no refunds are given, I will use the remainder of my money helping others stay away from this establishment. Horrid service, and rude employees, and that manager... shouldnt be managing himself. Completely dissatisfied
Theres Rules all OVER the place . I feel like Im in school when Im there . I went on friday... And it was my first time ..& my last time ...
I like the games I was able to learn to skate. I went there with the Avon park rec
Paid nearly 12 dollars to skate, got 3 broke Rollerblades and 2 left Rollerblades then asked for a refund and was told tough luck by the manager get in line for the bad reviews and complaints. Then he called me a cracker mother!@#%!
One of the staffs was really rude and they dont play that much games
The man running it acts like Mr. Macaphee from in living color and looks like Wayne Williams. Hes rude to everyone and has a billion rules.
Love it there
Changed name same crappie service ... the building needs a complete refurbishing playing adult music for kids that are roller skating from the Boys & Girls Club. I wont be taking my daughters hair no time soon
Too much rules over expensive
How much are tickets again
Great time with the family

Horrible service . bad worker attitudes . safety hazards. Bad food. Needs renovations.
Please look at the original website. The hours posted at the right are incorrect.
Has this always been called Skate Zone?. When I lived there, there was a skating rink but wasnt called Skate Zone. It was called Skate Dimensions.
I went for the first time ....to many rules ...never again
