Friendly and informative staff shared a brief history of the California gold rush with us. After, we explored the museum which was well curated and had incredible attention to detail. Its just the right size, so we didnt get museum fatigue. We highly recommend it.
A small, free museum, it is perfect for families. There is a small stream where kids can experience panning for gold. The tweet wall is hilarious. The tidbits about locals are interesting without being too long, yet you can explore more of you want to. The interactive mineshaft was a fascinating way to experience what life in the mines was like.Overall, it is a great little museum to learn about the gold rush, without spending a lot of time or money.
Loved visiting the entire museum so very interesting. All about our local area. Organized so well. A great adventure for all ages.A must see, enjoyable for long time residents also.
This place is a little dated, though what they have on display kept my kids entertained for over an hour. The pictures are amazing!
My kids enjoyed themselves here. They really loved learning about gold mining. It’s not a big museum but it’s still a good educational experience.
Cool things to learn and do. The guide there was extremely helpful, kind, and generous. We loved learning how to pan for gold, exploring the mine exhibit, and all the other exhibits there. Make sure you ask about that giant metal scoop out front!
Volunteers maintaining the museum are wonderful people. The exhibits have a lot of personal charm and effort put into them. A small museum, but one full of character and passion.
Very small museum with artifacts from local golf Rush period. Interesting displays.
A must stop if you want to do something out of the ordinary. Great to learn about gold country!
