I take lessons here with Marta and she is great! She’s very patient with me and the lessons are reasonably priced! I’ve been learning a lot and I can’t wait to continue my horse riding journey! I’m almost 20 years old and am taking lessons so it goes to show there’s no age limit to learning to ride!:)
My boyfriend and I were a little skeptical at first. The place you pull up to looks a little run down and we read many bad reviews. After walking through the gate to the back we were greeted by bonnie and her staff who were friendly and professional. We ended up having an amazing time. This place is perfect for people who have some riding experience but are not professional riders. My boyfriend and I had not been on a horse in years and this experience was perfect for us. We had a good time and the horses looked well cared for and were very sweet. Our group did get spooked by a deer so knowing how to stay calm and stop your horse is a must. The trail is mostly dirt and and forested areas in a neighborhood. Still very pretty. We used the deal on groupon and thought it was worth the money. Dont forget to bring cash to tip the staff and DONT WEAR BLING PANTS ladies...it can cause excessive wear on the saddle. After purchasing your groupon go to their website and read the instructions carefully to avoid any hassle. We did and things ran smoothly for us.
We did the 90 minute trail ride, its been awhile for both of us since last riding and the staff here was very knowledgeable and assisted with tips along the way. The horses seem to be well taken care of and we will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you Morris Shadow Mountain!
I treated my mom to a 90 minute group trail ride. We both had an excellent time! Bonnie and her staff are very professional and care greatly about the safety of their riders and horses. Highly recommend :)
Riding the horses was fun. They are very well behaved and it was really cool riding a horse. I liked how they taught us safety because I have heard horses can be dangerous. We went over safety a lot which I liked. I also liked all of the chickens and cats. I got the whole farm experience.
Overall a good place, but it only has one trail, so unless youre coming for lessons, I would not recommend coming more then once.
My 14 year old niece rides here every time she visits from Alaska- this time she went twice. Today she rode Mighty Man and had a fantastic ride. Last year my 70 year old father went with her - his report as a novice rider I had a little trepidation, but I rode Georgina who was the best behaving horse Ive every been on-- it was a delightful experience- five stars!
I had a great experience. We got the Groupon vouchers and had a lot of fun. The horses and trainers are funny and fun. I would love to go again soon.
My daughter treated me to a trail ride. We had so much fun and will be back for more!
I signed my wife up for a ride since she has always loved horses and she just keeps going back because she loves the place so much and enjoys the staff as well.
Love this place! Something to do during Covid 19. Lol. The horsemanship regulations make me feel safe. The staff are friendly. When I left, I felt so relaxed.
Bonnie was great! Me and my mom went for a trail ride and lesson. We learned how to ride a horse, learned safety, and we went for a trail ride. It was great for beginners as myself. I had only been on a horse once before and really appreciated the beginner friendly style since I was not confident enough to ride the horse alone. I had a really great time with my mom and the trainers. Would go again and again and again and hope to do lesson once covid 19 ends. Speaking of covid, they respect social distancing and mask covering and they disinfect helmets and hand sanitizer is everywhere for your use. Overall, this is a great place!!! :)
The staff is very friendly! The ride was nice, but not as much of a scenic ride as I expected. The views were mostly of houses and backyards.
Great experience! We had so much fun!
Well I would love to give a great review but my phone call was so aggressively rude Ill just skip this all together....Good job!!!
TOTALLY AMAZING!!!! They were so nice and very good at teaching us and getting us comfortable with the horses. There was suppose to be 7 of us but 5 people didnt show up so it was me and my mom. We enjoyed our time so much and totally recommend them. Again all horse lovers who dont own a horse but love to ride should go here.
My teen daughters did the 45 min lesson and 45 min trail ride. They loved it! Now they want lessons. There was good instruction and helpers too. Well be back
Very patient with us beginners. Thank you!
My niece has been coming every year for the past 5 years to ride at Morris Shadow Mountain Stables. The owner Bonnie is very nice and knowledgeable. We will be back
My sister and I did the 90 minute trail ride today. The ladies were all very knowledgeable and sweet. I can’t wait to go again! I would even love to give my children lessons here. I do feel bad though, because I didn’t have cash to tip our guides. My sister had bought the groupon and I didn’t know that they accepted tips. I completely recommend this place, so please bring cash so you can tip these wonderful ladies!
I thought this place was amazing. Though many seem to think the instructor was impatient, I saw discipline and experience. I suppose it just takes a certain level of knowledge in the equine world to appreciate her work for what it truly is.I had an amazing experience I Shadow Mountain Stables. The horses were gentle, beautiful, and excellent for people who are ready and willing to learn. Even her stallion was completely excellent with his ground manners. She was very knowledgeable about the equine world, and gave me so much valuable information for my personal equine career. I would recommend this place to anybody in a heartbeat.I see lots of comments about her petting zoo, and I dont understand that. She may have at one point had a petting zoo, but those animals are probably living a happy, retired life. When I visited her I saw a mini Pony, a mini donkey, a peacock, chickens, geese, and an emu. They were all well taken care of and looked very happy. But there was no actual petting zoo that I saw, and theres no petting zoo listed on her website. So it doesnt quite make sense to me that people are complaining about something that wasnt a service offered in the first place. Still, I recommend this place without a second thought . My time here was excellent and I cant wait to go back.
I found Bonnie (the owner) very kind and knowledgeable. She is very kind and passionate about her animals. It was a great experience and I definitely want to come back. The price was reasonable and I love all the animals! ️
I came to Bonnies place every weekend to ride my favored horse Dancer. Bonnie always ensures that every body gets the best matched horse and is safe on the ride. The horses are well trained and taken care of. I enjoy the time with all the animals and to meet other horse crazy people. I always have a great time.
I took the lessons and did the trail rides. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to get involved with the horses or just looking for one time great experience. Friendly and competent staff. they have horses from The Frozen movie. They were original Viking horses. And they got super cool mohawks!
In response to the owner:Response from the owner a year agoWhen you go for a job interview and you dont have the skills for the position . You dont get the job. You dont argue about it and pull the race card. You go back to school and try again. That is the very response I assumed you would give. I I did not pull the race card, at all. So I think it would be unwise to use that as an escapegoat and turn the blame on me for how poorly you conducted yourself as a business owner. I simply mentioned what the girl had said when I worked with her. She had told me she had never seen anyone clean the trails until I came along so to me thats a red flag as to how you treat those that you employ. I should add that she informed me of how you treat other people of different cultures, with great ignorance. Also when I spoke with you about the work and etc you were extremely dismissive and unprofessional cause you knew you werent able to exploit me. I have many years of experience with horses. It is not my fault your trail horses have little to no manners on the ground and in the saddle. As much as Id like to have corrected them, I did not feel comfortable doing that with a green rider on their back and putting them in danger. So excuse me for trying to be considerate. Also when i attempted to work with the horses the way I knew how you were extremely dismissive, rude and were not capable of being understanding. I have educated myself and continue to do so which has helped me in interacting with others and such. However, I do not believe I can say the same for yourself which is very apparent in your response, very distasteful. I should add that you in no way, shape or form did not inform that the work I did was a job interview it was clear that you were looking for someone naive enough to allow you to exploit them. I surely hope others that see this will avoid this barn. Several calls had been made to this barn just for the lack of efficient care the animals are receiving.
We did an amazing video shoot ️ horses, nature and atmosphere just awesome.
I had kept my horse there several years back only for a couple months till I was able to find a different stable to get my horse too. He was sensitive to alfalfa, it gave him loose stool. Thats ALL she would feed him. and he lost weight due to this. The pastures are muddy and overloaded. She is basically a animal hoarder, that offers crappy lessons, and horse back rides to keep her barn afloat. Not a good trainer, Not a good facility
Super Awesome to find such a gem tucked away in the middle of the City! Such wonderful horses and great programs! I hear it is their 20th year anniversary this year! How cool is that!
Bonnie and Ameria were great! Very friendly and informative. Horses were well taken care of. Will definitely be back.
I wish I could give this place a zero. The lady was hands down the rudest person Ive ever met and obviously didnt care about anyone who came to get lessons or ride. She treats first time child riders like they are insignificant pests. Ive never been to a worse establishment. The animals werent very well taken care of and she tries to put the summer camp kids to work. Also Bonnie, when you reply to a bad review try apologizing or something other that telling people the services you poorly offer.
I applied to an ad on Craigslist posted by the owner of the barn. I attached a resume to the email and explained why I thought I would be good for the position. I have been riding horses since I was 12 and have had many experiences with showing, gaming and currently driving. However she seemed to believe that I didnt have the correct horsemanship, she told me that maybe I had back yard horsemanship and that my confidence was low, which is the opposite. I would recommend anyone looking to do barn work to avoid this barn at all cost. She has poor people skills, which shows when she speaks to those who work for her and her customers.I understand everyone does things differently, however l do not think it is safe to run up behind a horse especially one you do not know. Also her horses have poor ground manners. One of her mares dragged me while on a trail. I have no problem correcting a horse when they have over stepped their boundaries however whenever I would try, she made it seem like I was trying to run the barn, which I wasnt. Also I could tell the horse was not for beginners and i didnt want to spook the horse or rider while out on the trail.Another time I was there she had clean up the trails of the trash and whatnot that was left by the horses. The girl that had been working there longer than me told me I was the only one she had do that. She hadnt done it herself.Shell have to remedial task and sit there and watch as you complete them which I find very daunting, and rude. When I asker her about payment, that was when she tried to size me down and tell me my horsemanship skills were poor compared to hers. I have no problem with criticism, however, I will not work for free and I could tell she did not like that. When I came up on a Saturday all she said was that i was done and she gave me money and sent me away as if I was a peasant. I know this review may sound bias but this is my experience with her and I dont want another person to have to deal with her rudeness. All in all, shell try to put you down and try to get free work out of you. As I said before please avoid this barn. The horses feet werent done, for awhile, I could tell. And her other animals were not in the best conditions either. I have called animal control and the gentleman I spoke with stated there had been other calls made about the barn as well. She doesnt seem to favor those that are a different skin color, or ethnicity then she is. One of the girls working there told me she made a racist remake to an Indian family that was there to go on a trail ride. If youre looking to enjoy a horse ride without someone yelling at you and talking to you as if youre a child, Id suggest avoiding this barn.
Not really impressed at all the hoops you have to jump through to just schedule a simple trail ride that was already paid for. Second, they tack on extra booking fees that are non refundable. I can live with the five dollar fee, but when you add another five dollars for a second person it gets ridiculous. Third, it was advertised as a ride for two which I thought implied a ride for two not a group. Lastly on the website said you should tip your guides... why would you tip after paying all that money?? Really Id rather go without the guide, but I know that cant happen, why would I tip someone I dont even want there. Will give a higher rating if the riding experience is acceptable, and Im not treated like someone who doesnt know how to ride. After I wrote the review this is what was said to me ....Hello RobinPlease go to groupon and get a refund as I am not going to do business with you.Thank youBonnieThis is the worst customer service I have ever seen. I do not recommend this business to anybody. They also delete their bad reviews from Facebook.
My husband decided to take me here as a birthday present. I wish we wouldve read the reviews before going! The trail was ok and it was interesting to see all the animals. HOWEVER, I found the owner to be incredibly rude and condescending. Very poor customer service. We werent sure where to go because no one spoke and gave us directions. When we we were done, no one said thanks for coming or have a nice day, just be sure to tip us on the way out! I was shocked at how gloomy and depressing this farm was. The horses looked hungry, there was junk everywhere and hay laying on the soggy ground. I found the lesson to be catered towards novice and intermediate riders NOT total beginners. The horse I was riding didnt follow directions, and as a beginner, I didnt know how to guide her! She didnt seem to be in great shape and was hungry the entire trip. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will not be returning.
It was a blast. The horse I had was simple to control, all the horses were in good shape, and each and every one behaved well. I dont understand why there are so many bad reviews. When working with horses, sometimes you need to be a bit brusque to get a point across. I was corrected myself, but that was my own fault as I had my feet positioned badly. Once I fixed that, the instructor never made another comment. Its a lovely place and I plan on going back there soon.
The ride itself was ok. Bonnie, the leader was not a pleasant person. She was a total picture nazi and yelled at me for taking pictures because I wasnt paying attention (which I was doing perfectly fine). She also scolded my fiancee and a couple other people on the ride for incorrect form. Im all for constructive criticism, but she was just rude about it.
You ride in a line for more than a hour and dont even see the person u went with unless your very lucky and your horses happen to get along and walk in front or behind of eachother. Wich for me wasnt the case..i went because i wanted to ride with my boyfriend ...welll i didnt see him until the end of the ride. This just isnt horeback riding for me..maybe for beginners.and even they might get bored. You literally just ride in a line in a small trail between trees. I couldnt wait till it was over..and owner is kind of rude like all these comments say. I asked about the petting zoo and she answere dme very rudely and cut off.
The owner is too rude to the customers
Bought a Groupon for my twin teen daughters......ride was supposed to be 90 mins. They were back in an hour and the first 15 mins was practicing in the arena....owner acted very put out that we were there and was frustrated because I didnt have my paper groupon with me. When I returned to pick up the kids they were standing out by the street???? Really....they cant hang out near the picnic tables and farm animals??? There was still 15 mins left in the ride! POOR customer service!
The place is okay but the service isnt that great. Ive rode english but when I came here bonnie put me in a western saddle and an one handed bridle(which I never rode in, plus I told her I ride english) and she got frusterated when I couldnt ride in this tack! She always looks down on me, then she goes and talks junk about the place I use to ride at before here in front of me. And at that place we had an olympic trainer teaching us!! Then theres a pasture of like 20-30 horses that stay there 24/7, and when I was bringing a horse in I saw another horse whose hooves looked like they havent been trimmed in a lot of months!! I also saw how she was teaching kids who never rode before and it was horrible. She didnt tell them how to hold the reings corectly or how to turn it was horrible!!
Ive known bonnie for a very long time... My mom bought a horse from her about 9 years ago who was abused and not taken care of correctly. Ive recently seen some of her horses in the back pasture who are very skinny and in poor looking condition. Not a good trainer, very impatient and unprofessional. Wouldnt recommend it..
Great horses. Great owner.
Horrible customer service. Do not purchase a Groupon or Living Social deal unless you want to deal with a refund. Surprised after seeing my experience was so similar to others that these companies continue to do business with Bonnie the rude owner.
Showed up during Internet-posted business hours on a Saturday for the petting farm, but no one was there. The sign for the petting farm was posted roadside too. Knocked on the door and called the phone number (left voice mail) without a reply to either. Really disappointed to drive almost an hour for nothing.
