Not only is Georgia Tech a great school - it has one of the greatest pools in the county. The Georgia Tech pool was once the Olympic pool when the Olympic games were held in Atlanta in 1996. The competition pool is ten lanes/50 meters and is the perfect depth. It is a very fast pool. Seating is great for coaches and spectators. Attached is a diving well used for 1m,3m, and 10 m diving. Also in the facility is a great gym/workout area for students.
The Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center is a world-class facility, unsurprising for a former Olympic aquatics center. Its undeniably one of the best campus gyms in the US, especially in terms of pools. Student staffers and IT arent always very helpful, but the CRC itself is great.
Excellent place to work out, exercise, and get in shape. Has any piece of workout equipment you can imagine, as well as a swimming pools, basketball courts, indoor soccer areas, and so much more. Be sure to sign up for classes as well. The instructors are well educated and enjoy helping others exercise. It can get crowded at times. But the extended hours can help you pick a time to work around the crowds.
I love this place but I love the way they are
Did a great job hosting STATE MEET 14 & under in 2019. This weekend they host short course state meet. I anticipate it will go well again, for swimmers, parents, and spectators.GO ELI!! GO GCAT!!!
A really great place to play sports of all kinds! The workout area is huge. They have indoor soccer and basketball courts on the upper levels. Running track is right above the basketball courts.
This is an excellent gym with all the equipment and facilities I need. All GT students know this already and I know many alumni who maintain an alumni membership after graduation particularly if you want to swim. Things can get pretty busy in the evenings as with any gym but there is plenty of space to get a workout in anyway. I’ve also rented portions of the facility for events and it has always been an excellent experience. The staff has been professional and more than helpful during planning and execution of the event. Parking can be a bit of a pain but as long as your guests know ahead of time we haven’t had many complaints.
Best gym in GA. Unfortunately I haven’t worked out their since my college days. Currently use the parking garage as a parking place for sporting events and it’s an easy-in easy-out lot
Great place.Swimming pool was constructed for Olympic games 1996. Various courts and grounds for games are there.
We have been visiting this pool to participate in various year-round club swim meets for many years. It is one of the best facilities in the country and certainly among the nicest we have visited. The seating is excellent (extremely comfortable) and provides a wide range of viewing opportunities. The novelty of it having been the 1996 Olympic site gives you a feel of history and something for young swimmers to tell their friends about. Parking is convenient with the perfect size spaces (not those crazy tiny spots which seem to be the norm today). Attending an event here is an excellent experience and another great reason to visit GA Tech.
Their new policies after COVID-19 don’t protect students and instead just make everything unnecessarily complicated and tedious.
Spacious fitness place. Complete exercise equipment and variety. Uncanny facility
We were here for a large national swim meet. The facilities were great and the overall service was done well. I didnt use any of the other facilities but the center was large and laid out well.
Absolutely Fabulous school and campus.
I was there to watch a grandson of mine in the swimming pool in a class swimming contest. The building is nice.
The Georgia Tech Campus is a fabulous campus. It offers a bus for free to go all around the campus then to Midtown, then to Atlantic Station. Very bicycle friendly, and welcome for walkers. The parking space are very limited and not cheap. Except if you go to the sport campus that is not crazy expensive. It has a couple nice historical buildings. It deserves you take a day to walk around. The library is a great modern building with an incredible terrace. you can spend a Saturday morning walk around the campus! And it is a safe place!
Best competition pool around. Comfortable seats and good parking
You dont have to be a student to get access. Huge indoor pools and fitness center. Thousands of people every day but never looks full. Really huge. Best place to with family for indoor and some outdoor activities. There are also basketball playgrounds, climbing and many other options. The place you can have fun with friends whatever is the weather.
Amazing facility to do any type of sport. Everything is clean and well functioning. The pool is huge and there are plenty of courts for basketball, raquetball and anything you might think of.
No wonder college is so expensive! Theres basically a Lifetime Fitness in here including 5 racquetball courts, a full double Olympic pool and high dive setup (which I image was probably actually used in the Olympics in 1996?), another giant recreational pool with like a little water park, and Im not sure if there is also an outdoor pool or just a tanning area. There is a juice bar/smoothie place, and God knows what else, thats just what I could see from the second story on the way in to watch a swim meet. Makes me want to go back to school like Rodney Dangerfield.
The best swimming facility in southeast US I know of.
Very good place to exercise at. The restrooms are always clean.
There is so much offered here or for students it is very convenient.
Excellent swimming facilities. Well kept and organized.
Visited while visiting campus. Huge rec center and gigantic pool. Well kept, can get busy but the 5 power racks is great. Would be nice if they could replace the hex plates with circular plates.
Great place for exercising. Alumni can get family passes. Nice kids and good atmosphere.
Great facility and the staff put on a great state championship event!!!
Multiple stories tall. Bottom floor features weights, a lot of cardio machines, racket ball courts, and pool. Middle floor has a nice cafe. Top floor has an indoor track and plenty of floor space for basketball, table tennis, badminton, and football. Staff is mainly all students. Only downside is the crc gets packed very quickly.
Found out about Tech since summer 2016 via a group of friends and I’ve been coming here ever since. The turf is excellent, and the school generously makes it available to both students and outsiders. It’s a wonderful place to play soccer, plus it’s rare to miss enjoying a good game particularly on Mondays and Fridays.Best social soccer place downtown for me.
Air quality in the aquatics center was a 7/10 this year. Staff super friendly!
I hate going to swim meets here! They charge $15-$20a day......find a pay lot much cheaper!
Great gym for students. Lots of excerise equipment as well as event opportunities.
Great besides Jonathan Hart’s anger issues and that lady who screams at the people on the treadmill.
A comprehensive building that any member of the GT community should take advantage of. Whether itd be general workout routine or indoor sports, the CRC provides solid support with modern facilities.
I like the rock wall and the pools. The leisure pool has a fast and fun slide! Check the rock wall hours carefully, though; its not open very often.
The best basketball gym in Atlanta with a indoor track that goes around the 8 full courts. I was invited to play with a few students and was impressed.
Fantastic Facility, state of the art really. Almost always packed however
Great Gym with tons of facilities and the pools from the 1996 Summer Olympics. A lot of sports, clubs, and other activities like yoga are offered. After entering, one can go downstairs to find a gym where they can lift weights or use the rock wall for rock climbing or bouldering. In the same floor (s)he can go into a locker room and change to go swimming. On the upper level there are 6 basketball courts, a track for running, indoor soccer, ping pong, as well as studios for classes like self defense or yoga. Usually nets are rolled out and you can also see people playing badminton or volleyball. As a student, Im not sure about the prices, but the facilities are definitely great. After a good exercise, theres also a smoothie store that is open during the day. Usually if some equipment cannot be found, you can find it in the equipment rental desks. As for locker rooms, theres mens, womens, and also a family one with a sauna. My biggest complaint is that the weightlifting gym has no kettle bells. They have 4 squat racks and tons of other equipment, but just no kettle bells.
Nice facility but seating for swimmers for swim meets is totally inadequate.
This is a first-class facility, befitting Georgia Techs standing as a first-class, academically-challenging institution that takes in high achievers, and turns out will-rounded and well-educated graduates. The McAuley Aquatic Center is a wonderful venue for athletes and spectators alike.
I love this pool and all the memories, to sit and watch my grand daughter is a heartwarming experience.
Amazing facility! Pool, weight room, courts ABOVE pool... beautiful.
This is a great facility, it was used in the 1996 Olympics.
Best college gym I have ever been to.
Nice pool, but parking for events is outrageous. And you do not really have any other option.
Undoubtedly the best recreation facility in Atlanta, certainly one of the best in US. They have equipments of almost every type, Olympic swimming pool, jacuzzi, kids water park, badminton court, basket ball court & so on.
Awesome place to work out. The staff is amazing
Gorgeous campus facility that rivals any gym anywhere.
Have been to swim meets here, this is a world class facility. It is amazing how modern and relent the architecture and design is for a 20 year old building. It seems like it was built in the last 5 years.
Grab a pump with Buzzy and the students at Tech. THWG
Its closed til further notice
Great experience with an impromptu visit to Georgia Tech today. Many friendly people willing to talk about the area and how things with. Didnt get a tour. But thats our own fault. Everything was clean and pretty easy to find. Lots of traffic and I imagine it would be worse during August when students are back.
Was there to watch fencing. Parking for visitors, like most typical big schools, is not visitor friendly.
Experince the legacy & relivance of education ...
Former Aquatic Center for the 1996 Olympics, Great place for All Swim Meets!
One of the best recreation facilities in the country. This was the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics, that alone is an amazing thing.
I think Im reviewing the student center...so here we go. When entering the building I was greeted by the sight of multiple chain restaurants. Subway, Panda Express, that chicken restaurant that I dont remember how to spell the name of, some place called auditions, and some student run cafes upstairs. The best part was the shop located by one of the 2 or 3 entrences. For every product you buy, wether its nice Beats headphones and earbuds and other high quality headphones to cheap not very good headphones and earbuds, part of it will fund things that students need. There were lots of office supplies, hoodies and sweat pants, and little gifts. ( Dont buy the cheap earbuds, I can say from reaserch there worth like 2 bucks, and there just not good.) Yeah Im done lol.
Located in Downtown Atlanta, great school with great everything. Love it
I love this place because Trogdor the Burninator burninates peasants here.
Love coming here for my sons swim meet each year very nice place
Great fencing tournament run by Yellow Jacket Fencing Club
Amazing space! All GA Tech students need to take complete advantage of thus resource.
Good equipment and nice pools.
The gym is wonderful. The locker rooms are horrible. The showers are not well kept.
Olympic pool hosts GT swim team, US Olympic trials, pro meets, college meets, hs state meets, USA prep, senior, and age group competitions. Olympic diving well. 1,000+ grandstand seats. Plentiful clean bathrooms, snack bar
Gym, pool, basketball, raquetball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, dance studios, showers. Good deal all around
The CRC is the best place to get the gains.
Amazing facility, has an Olympic sized pool and a large workout area.
Great gym if you dont go at the wrong hours
Nice area to work out and play badminton or basketball. Theres also some racquetball court on the lower level. Theres some classes like Tai Chi or something that you could also take if the classes at Tech didnt suck up all the time in your life yet.
Has everything I need, sometimes gets too crowded though
Diving event. Good.
We need more water fountains! There are three fountains on the gym floor by the weights, but only one can be used at a time due to poor water pressure. The water fountain on the far right also has a very unconventional design that I see no one use. Also, lockers should all be free and should not require a lock. There is plenty of space for a new locker system when you walk into the gym. Please purchase lockers where you can set your own 4 digit code and do not need a lock or key to access them. (The University of Florida sets a good example for gym layout and functionality).Treadmills should also be moved to a different section of the gym to make room for more weightlifting equipment so that at times of peak use there is less issues with congestion on the gym floor.
Great facility. Atl erg sprints are held here each year. Love it
Great place to work out and a great environment
Really cool rec center. Had to get a friend to check me in but had a really nice time with nice people
Nice place always have space to play, and the lights are on until around mid night too
Very nice facility. Always pleased when LAX tournaments are scheduled here.
Truly one of the best university gyms in the US. It has everything, from cardio machines with TV, an Olympic sized pool, indoor soccer and basketball courts, and much more. Been going for 6 years now and have been satisfied since the first day.
Great fun and swimming for my children provided by Horizons the best camp my children ever attended.
This place has a breathtaking pool. It was the one use and built for the 1996 Olympics.
Everything you could ever need for fitness is located in this beautiful state-of-the-art building. Gyms, running track, pool, climbing wall, cardio equipment, dance studios, all kinds of weightlifting. You name it, theyve got it. Clean, well run facility.
Awesome gym, nice staff!
As an alumni I really enjoy being able to still feel a part of campus and workout at the world-class CRC. The equipment, staff and technology (of course) is top-notch. For the price, the CRC is a great option for alumni to hit the gym.
Great venue. 2016 NCAA division 1 womens championships. Site of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games! Centrally located and close to everything easy to walk anywhere
Everything except for the drive from home through the Connector :) Oh, but, even the drive is fine! Check out the water side and the indoor jogging track up on the fifth floor with low impact material and the nice view of the city!
Disclosure: I worked at this building for 6 years in the Aquatics Center. The building itself is quite possibly the pinnacle of an athletic/activity building for a college campus. It has a full workout floor, Olympic sized pool, competition diving well, squash courts, a leisure pool with attached water slide, basketball courts, activity rooms, an indoor soccer court, and an indoor track. Along with all of those amenities, it even comes with an outdoors area where you can rent kayaks and other outdoor gear. The building has quite a bit to offer depending on your level of fitness, from classes spanning multiple martial arts and dance, to multiple sports clubs that house practices within, there is quite a bit to choose from depending on your athletic level and interest. The one negative I can say about the building is the lack of an area to perform Olympic lifts or explosive movements. I can understand that from a liability standpoint, it may not be wise for the building to allow such offerings. It is even against the rules to do so in the weight room area. Having an area for those movements, where bumper plates are allowed and platforms for the movements and heavy deadlifts would be all I would need to give this building five stars.
Super nice gym with racquetball courts and rock climbing gym with tons of rental stuff available for free (foam rollers, racquetball gear, rock climbing gear, etc.
Great place for swim meets
My professor was amazing.
Easily the best rec center Ive ever visited. 6 basketball courts, 2 pools, an amazing workout facility, great staff. Student or non-student this is the gym for you.
Beautiful facility. If you are renting there, be prepared for some difficulties-slow replies, delayed invoices, and none of the student employees knew who to call when we turned in the rental pmt.
World class!
There are some amazing facilities here. Free weights, machines, treadmills, ellipticals. Racquetball, basketball, indoor soccer, and studios. Of course the pool and giant slide is always fun.
Its a nice place to go you can workout there and get a smoothie
