Because covid, it was drive-in theater format when I went. Mad Max: Fury Road was playing, and it was perfect for the venue. With the small lot and the eye-level screen, the non-stop action filled the windshield, making it feel almost like I was in the movie.(Ill add that the logistics of the operation were flawless: concession, porta-potties, traffic control, parking etc. They were even prepared to give our car a jump at the end when we needed it.)
Dads Garage is amazing! Im loving their collaboration with the Plaza Theater to do Drive in movies during Covid.
Fantastic space. Fantastic people. The downstairs is a great box office and hangout space. Theres plenty is room, feels comfortable with plenty of personality. Its also used for smaller, more intimate sets. The main stage upstairs is beautiful and can seat a few hundred. The chairs are comfortable and even have cup holders. The sound system and lighting are impressive, too. This is not a small improve comedy club, its a fun theatre with an inviting, warm community of people. I highly recommend checking out the shows they produce.
Dope little pop-up drive in. Hit supermo for tacos and an agua fresca. And if you still thirsty or want some snacks. They doing a COVID car hop with drinks and snacks. The mobile bathrooms are clean and ACd. Just wear light clothing and roll down your windows, that east side summer night air feels great. watch some weird movies with some fellow strangers.
Dads garage continues to be a fresh, enjoyable experience. We saw invasion Christmas Carol tonight and couldnt have had more fun. The cast were hilarious and provide me and my friends a entertaining night out. Highly recommend as the best house of comedy in Atlanta.
I brought a couple of my Murderino friends here last Friday for some My Favorite Murder Improv, and Dads Garage did NOT disappoint! Location was a short walk from Krog Street Market, the drinks werent overpriced, there was popcorn, and not a bad seat in the house! The show itself had me rolling in laughter and I will definitely be back.
I went to the Valentines Show and my husband and I truly enjoyed ourselves. It was funny and engaging. I recommend you check it out!
Screen wasnt big enough, and movie was missing subtitles when there was foreign language.
We watched the Valentines show Friday night, it was great! This was our second visit and both times it was so funny! We cant wait to go back!
Fun place to see comedy. Great place for date night. We ordered pizza from down the street and it was delightful.
This theater is spectacular! Their skits are well written and perfectly performed. The actors are amazing!! What make it even better is their lovely team and great community. I would strongly reccomend checking out theirs shows.
We went for a friday Improve night. I was a little sceptical at first, but it ended up being really funny. The space is perfectly sized and the production is strong. Almost made me want to try out for the group. Great place and fairly cheap tickets.
This place offers more of a improv show, rather than comedy show. It was my first time seeing a improv show, but it was enjoyable. The drink is recently priced!
Laid-back, engaging, adult, thought provoking humor. Nonprofit!? How awesome is that?!
Our organization has been working with Dads Garage over the last 6 months with various team bonding sessions. Each department leaves with huge smiles and a better sense on how to work together as a team. I cannot say enough positive things about them! Each instructor is honestly incredible. We cant wait to use them again!
I wish I knew about this place sooner! Only recently checked them out and had a blast. Cool set up.Get there early to get in line first for the best seats.
Not a bad seat in the house, good selection of beer both craft and non. Great venue, great show! Loved Wrath of Con! Cant wait for the sequel!
Such an amazing gem in Atlanta! Love everything they do! Plus the improv classes are superb. I would definitely recommend.
Some of the best improv I have seen. I think its even better than Second City in Chicago. I laughed the entire time!! Would definitely go monthly to see the show if not biweekly.
Love the shows and always have a blast! Look at their schedule and get tickets!
I love the scripted shows best, but every night out at dads is awesome! The staff is great and the venue is really fun. The sound quality is fantastic, and the performers are truly funny. Great variety in shows, content and performers.
Okay so we didnt actually go to Dads garage. However we went to their big stupid parking lot party. It was fun. Perfect number of people excellent silent auction great opportunity to have a good time and raise money.
The troupe we saw was phenomenal. Very funny skits, welcoming staff, and they sell beer and wine individually or by the bucket. Great place to spend an evening as a couple or with a group.
Hilarious performers and a unique fun idea for the Christmas Carroll invasion.
This place is EPIC! We had an absolutely wonderful evening. I only wish there were more stars to rate. You will laugh until your sides hurt.
LOVE this place. Ive gone here for years and have brought a ton of people here for the first time. These guys are passionate. They are nice. And they are FUNNY.
First time in there tonight despite years of seeing ads and reviews raving on how great the establishment is. Finally had the cohones to visit them and was not disappointed! Staff is friendly and superb! Wrath of Con was my first, but not last, show here!
Their productions are always the best. Very reasonably priced. The actors and the staff are super awesome.
Great laughs, strong cheap drinks, 10/10 better than the club
Great fundraiser for center for civic innovation (CCI). Great venue. Bar, comfortable seating, friendly staff.
Scandel:Felt Street show was really good.
Ive never been disappointed by a show here. Great place for comedy.
Had such a great time we went back the next night! Cant wait to visit again! Thank you for an experience well never forget.
Hilarious comedy improv troupe with a fantastic home venue. Snacks and drinks are available at the show, and occasional special events and visiting guests... So keep an eye on the schedule!
The talent is amazing that this space houses! The theater is just the right size where you feel like you are a fly on the wall watching it all unfold.
Had a great night. The Christmas Carol Invasion has become a fun holiday tradition. The new place is very comfortable. No matter where you sit, it will be a great seat. The change of invaders every night makes for a fun experience. Their improve shows are also a solid night of laughs. I cant wait to go back.
Enjoyed a wonderful presentation of Black Nerd at Dads Garage, the most recent performance I have had the privilege of seeing, and it was amazing. Would recommend any performance or improv event at this fine facility. Parking is excellent, they have a reasonable bar and snack facility available before and during intermission, and the property is always comfortable, well-lit, and easy to get into even for me an ADA attendee.
Love this place. It’s my new favorite thing to do. The improv group is awesome and the crowd is fun and I love the intimate atmosphere in the downstairs bar area, as well as in the theater.
Great improv. Talented people. We expected to laugh more
Hilarious. Go and you will not regret.
What do you get when you cross improv comedy with continuing themes? Hilarity! They have had a show going on for the season that builds upon each other and makes it extremely funny. Wed go back gladly in the future.
Good show with pretty talented people. There were a couple times the comedy fell flat but they moved on quickly. I guess thats part of the game with improv comedy. Not a huge place and I dont think there could be a bad seat in the house. We were near the top of the center section and didnt feel too far away at all. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Over all we had a great time and would go back again.
Good until the part where I was symbolically crucified and they started drinking my blood and eating my flesh it was great. But then they told me it was just for play play and then it was fine. At least I kept my soul.
Went to the new year special performance. Its what you should except from a comedy show. Very funny most time and kind of weird the other time (stripper robot). Great show.
Yalllllllll this place was INCREDIBLE! My husband and I just went here on a date for our one year anniversary and Ive not laughed so hard in SOOO long! If you havent been before.... RUN! GO! We went for the TheatreSports show and it was just phenomenal. If you want to laugh.. go lol.. but dont bring the kids!
Sho was friggn hilarious. Would have loved to see 10 minute sets with more actores vs 20 minutes but still epic. Def coming back
Always a blast! Such great talent
We loved seeing the Wrath of Con and various other shows. Hilarious establishment.
Outstanding theatre. Seats have leg room, air works great!
Dads Garage worked with us to host a fundraiser for the Furniture Bank of Atlanta, and we had the best time.It was my first experience, and they were doing a Christmas Carol: Invasion. It was absolutely hilarious. The actors were terrific and quick on their feet, and the set was extremely well done as well.Throw on the fact they have a full-bar and great staff, and this is a great idea for a night out.
Great talent, and a friendly community feel to the place. Ive been here for a board games night and for a Black Nerd performance. Always have a good time here. They also have a decent selection of local beers and other drinks, some snacks.
Very cool spot with a great show! If you bring a box of unopened feminine pads you get a free bag of popcorn!
Great group of comedians. First time here. I was unaware that it was a small theater setting. It was lovely
Great fun place. Classic.
Awesome, hilarious, and inclusive space. Way too good for parking cars. Take a class, see a show. Youll love it.
Awesome shows and great company, just wish the seats were a little wider for the butt in the main audience section.
I never dont leave there hurting from laughter. The people who run the events and perform on stage are all incredibly talented! You have to visit multiple times!
So much fun! The staff is incredible, the cast is incredible and there isnt a bad seat in the house. I havent laughed that hard or that much in a long time. I didnt want the night to end. If you have never been, you need to go!
Ive never been disappointed with a show. All the performers always do an amazing job. Definitely check this place out!! :)
If you want improv comedy, this is the only game in town, definitely not bad for the price..
Dads Garage is one of Atlanta most unique experiences. The building is a converted church. You enter into an open space with seating, ticket pickup, and a good bar with a variety of drink options. The script shows are a blast. The show The Wrath of Con is a great example. I poked gentle fun at DragonCon attendees. At first I thought, I know these people., then I found myself thinking, I am these people. Dads also runs loosely script shows like the Scandal!. It is a soap opera unfolding across several weeks with each show taking over where the last one left off. Their improve is excellent, occasionally drawing talents like Colin Mochrie from Whose Line is it Anyway. Have a drink, see a show, and leave laughing.,
Intimate feel... Decent prices on food and drink for the area
Always a great time and lots of laughs at Dads Garage. The funniest improv players in town. Highly recommend the Dungeons and Dragons spoof and the Christmas Carol shows.
I have enjoyed every single show I have seen there.
Great local improv comedy.
This is a great venue and a good place for laughs! I love coming here on the weekends to destress for the week The crew is really fun and theyre all very talented. I especially enjoy their sketch comedy! Highly recommend!
Went to the board members night, they did a total of 6 sets - two of which were videos available free online. Which was annoying since tickets for 2 people was about $70. Some of it was funny, but it was hard to hear without microphones as some did not project their voices. I was hoping for more. Its probably better on non-board nights, so dont make our mistake.
Amazing atmosphere and perfect for any group :)
Best improv in atlanta.
Always a great time hear!! And the props are always amazing.
My first night there was the anniversary of Dark Side of the Room. Amazing space, great people and I loved how they featured various Atl artists. I went back the following week and saw different show, and it was also fantastic. If you’ve never been definitely give it a shot it is very worth it
Excellent as usual! My brothers and sister are a part of the improv class there, and the shows are great!
We went to the improv show with the Starwars theme and it was great. Lots of comedic talent there. Would def recommend!
Ive volunteered there a few times now and I absolutely love it! Everyone there is super nice and welcoming. The weekend shows are always awesome and sometimes they even have some famous people on stage-- Colin Mochrie was there a couple of weeks ago! Even a few people from the cast of Archer are there quite a bit. Definitely awesome people and a good time!
Excellent acting - enjoyable atmosphere!
Whoo! If you are looking for a group, business, or even just a solo date night.. this is where you want to be. Drinks, laughs and a hell of a good time!! You cant go wrong with Dads! Its a hip and laid back improv spot that does some of the best shows in the city!
Not handicap friendly. Our friend couldnt get upstairs to the theatre because the elevator was broken, so their solution was to make her climb a steep hill with her cane and then direct us to the worst seats possible where she couldnt move her neck to see the screen.
The improv was ok. I fell asleep, but otherwise it was ok
This is what I love about the Atlanta theater scene. I can do the high-end stodgy theater scene that can be thought provoking. But sometimes you just want to have fun.We went with friends to see a parody musical based upon the Ewoks from Star Wars. The crowd was nerdy, rowdy, and totally into the performance - and the cast/crew were not only fine with that they encouraged it. I even met the playwright standing in line at the bar (and you should know that the drinks were pretty good, too).
Love this place, every show is an adventure in comedy. The Wrath of Con production is a must see for any Dragon Con fan.
Very funny and good time. BUT i went to a 10:30 show and they made sure to let everyone know its between pg and pg13 humor. It a comedy club that serves alcohol and bans dirty jokes. Please let the late show be less restictive. Kind of ruined the night. Also no budweiser. But over all a good time. I would highly recommend.
Shows amazing, good fun and entertaining ppl
Didnt actually get to stay for show because we made the mistake of not checking to see if show was appropriate for kids. Review is for the fact they refunded our money even though it was our fault. I didnt even bother to ask, manager emailed us after we left to tell us! 5 stars for kindness! If show is 1/2 as good as the people working there I highly recommend. Im from out of town but if I get the chance to come back without kid Im there!
If you are considering going to Dads Garage do yourself a favor and go. This is a great place to visit if you are looking for a laugh. I recommend this as a great place to meet up with friends. For the price this is a must go to when visiting Atlanta.
Our son attended an Improv Summer Camp with Kirstin King and it was an incredible experience him. Kirstin is an incredibly talented and gifted performer. This was a life changing week for our son and we will be back!
Cool looking venue and good vibes from the audience and staff.
This is a great place to go for a few laughs and a break from the daily grind. Very talented group of performers!
