Hands down they are the best theater in the region and great prices. They even have reasonable prices at the concession stand .Overall they typically have a wide selection of movies and a full service snack bar that has everything from candy to hot dogs and nachos. Granted that I am not going to have dinner at the movie theater. The staff is very professional and keeps the theaters clean and without a bunch of funk on the floor that you stick to.

Good prices on everything here. Good movies. Mostly everything is good, setting is super bland though and the chairs are just bleh. Other than that great place to see movies.

Very friendly staff, clean restrooms and movie theater, easy to get to off route 50, $5.00 afternoon ticket, great way to spend the afternoon on a cold day. Only thing I would like to see is matinee on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This place has good movies and is not extremely expensive. In my opinion the only downside is that you are not allowed to bring your own food or drink. However, I have found a solution to this problem; You can just put the food in your pocket and walk in with it. I have done this countless times and always gotten away with it. The best movie theater in the area by screen width and price of food. Tickets are only a dollar more than Movies 10 and the seating isnt as good as Movies 10, but the service and selection of snacks is great. Plus, the sound is amazing there. However, Im taking one star off because they keep showing the same adverts from First Settlement Physical Therapy that Ive been seeing since Middle School.

This is not you AMC or any other corporate movie theater, however for a small town theater, I was surprised on how up to date the movies are and how cheap everything is.The seats I might rate at 3 stars but for the price and quilts of movies and new releases I give it 5 stars, so the two average a 4 star rating.If you your from out of town and looking for a place to watch a movie I would recommend Athena Grand. Just remember it is a small town movie theater, if you keep that in mind you will enjoy the movie and your experience will be great.

Great prices, popcorn was delicious and cheap. Only complaint was the small drinks were extremely small for the price, but thats totally expected at a movie theater. If popcorn makes you thirsty, definitely get a medium or a large drink

Definitely the cheapest movie tickets I have ever bought. Sure there is a cheaper place but its a bit far from campus. Only thing stopping me from giving it a 5 star rating is that the areas I end up sitting in always have some sort of litter around it.

We drive 45 minutes to go see movies here. The only place you can see indie movies and critically acclaimed movies. Owned by the University and run by students. Its well run and everyone is friendly.

We travel here from Parkersburg to go to the movies. We saw The Hate U Give, which was great also. You can actually come here for a movie and, get popcorn and a drink, without having to mortgage your house.They even have an arcade and real snack food at reasonable prices.Athena Grand is also very accessible. The ramp is not an idiot designed stunt ramp. There are no clunky thresholds, nor are there any steep ramps to theater seating. Everything, as far as accessibility, was well throughout, well planned, and well executed.If you havent been there and youre in the neighborhood, or less than a hundred miles away, you have to visit Athena Grand! You wont be disappointed.

I really enjoyed my experience at this theater. The ticket kiosk made buying tickets easy. The theater was clean and the seats were comfortable. The projection quality was excellent and the sound was at a comfortable volume. Considering that the ticket prices are inexpensive, compared to big-city theatres, seeing movies here is a great value!

The price is right but they didnt turn down the side sconces so the extra light washed out the video and was very annoying. Also there is a stain on the screen

They need to improve Customer Service when a showing is reaching max capacity. Bought four tickets and several concession items for my friends and had to leave minutes later since there weren’t enough seats and they refused to give refund or some sort of credit/exchange.If they see this and claim seats were available, don’t believe them... 2 seats were available (not the four I paid for).

Definitely an aging theater. Many screens have blemishes that are distractingly visible during projection. Otherwise, staff (mainly highschoolers) are kind and fast. Prices are great.

Upscale and modern when compared to Movies 10, worn and dated when compared to almost every other theather Ive been to. But, if you are in Athens, this is where you go, and the price is unbeatable compared to most theaters. Having an automatic reclining seat might be nice, but Im really just there to see a movie.If I am allowed one big gripe (and Im sure Im completely alone on this one) it would be their hotdogs. No movie theater hot dog is great, and I dont consider myself all that particular, but their microwave dogs are terrible. I find comfort is knowing a hot dog is perfectly cooked after having rolled around for hours.

Athena Grand is an affordable theater with a wide variety of movies given its location. The seats have arms that fold up and down, which is a plus for me. There are also popcorn seasonings available at the concession counter. These options seat this theater apart.

I live in Parkersburg & drive all the way to Athens to catch movies. The price, screens, and staff are all much better than I can find in my own town. Sometimes the bass from one theater bleeds into an adjacent one, but thats my only nitpick.

Great popcorn courteous staff

Theaters can be rather hard to review especially in college town Athens Ohio, but this review will be as unbiased and rated off of several visits throughout multiple years.So without further-ado here it is.This theater opened up only some years ago, it isnt that old. But isnt new either.This theater is usually ran by a staff of whom seems to be college students. Which is great because they need the money for college and who better to work in a theater!The customer services from this staff has always been decent, if not decent, then pretty good.The popcorn always nice and hot, the butter is decent for movie theater quality, and the snack selection is not bad!. The nachos are generic and the sauce is dispensed from a nacho sauce warming machine. Which oddly enough they are very delicious.The seating in the theaters are decently comfortable with flip-up arm wrests, and ample spacing and leg room in most theaters.The picture quality is usually quite good, and 3D in this theater while rare, is pretty amazing quality.All in all, its a pretty good theater for both locals and travelers looking to catch a quick-flick.

Athena Grand is an awesome place for movies in Southeast Ohio. Ticket prices are cheap ($5 for adult anytime) and is worth the higher price compared to Movies Ten for the projector quality. Concessions are a bit more but still affordable. Movies pass through here quickly so be sure to see the popular films soon after they release

My all time favorite place in the area to watch a movie. Employees are always kind and efficient. The idea that you can order your tickets and food st the same time, makes for a quicker way to get to your movie. Also love the popcorn bar-where you can butter and favor your own popcorn!

I like going here its small but comfortable I rather pay a dollar more cause the seats are more comfortable than movie 10, I am surprised to see comments saying its expensive here cause if you try going to a movie in columbus than be prepared to pay at least twice as much. My only complaint is sometimes the theater is too warm, and it might need a lottle more cleaning but for the prices you pay I dont care too much

Took my girls to watch MIB International. It wouldnt take my card for some reason (it worked just fine at a different location afterwards). Im HOH and I got the closed captioning device. It was the first time Ive ever had the experience. It meant a lot to me and it worked great. Everything was perfectly timed. I loved it. We passed a cheaper theatre on the way that didnt offer the service. Theres a bit of a smell, but the seats are comfy and theyre on a steep incline floor so you dont have to worry about seeing over peoples heads (like the aforementioned cheaper place). Im glad I made the trip for this place.

Good place to come to see the latest movies, a hidden gem compared to the other movie theaters in the surrounding areas. If you dont enjoy being crowded and surrounded by people at the movie theater then this is the ideal place to visit. Comfortable theater areas and pretty clean restrooms. Has a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Only issue is the dirty floors sprinkled with various food items and such. Besides that its​ a great place!

I have been going to this movie theater since it was first built. I still remember the previous store that was in its place previously.Ive never had an outright bad experience there. Generally it has been good. Staff is nice and the theater isn’t dirty.

You cant beat the price, but sometimes the workers are rude. Was in the middle of a movie and one of the workers randomly came in and threatened to kick my daughter and her friends out. Now if they were talking through or being loud during the movie I would understand, but they were being quiet as can be. The worker offered no explanation and just walked out. Next time Ill drive the extra few minutes and go to Nelsonville or Parkersburg.

Theater 11 had a few wrinkles in the screen. They never dimmed the lights when the movie started. The HVAC system is quite loud and can be easily heard over the movie.

Great movie theater. Has lots of rooms, screens are fine, chairs are conftable and is up to date with the latest releases plus is almost never crowded. Staff is awesomely receptive and popcorn is always great. Ticket prices are fair and fitted for all. For me its not a 4 star just because I think the rooms need to be renewed or renovated as some lack better conservation, some smell old, walls and sellings need an upgrade job and air-conditioning can sometimes smell musty. Treat that and you we all will enjoy a first class experience.

Its a cool theater, my only beef is it smells like old popcorn. You might think that musty smell is coming from your neighbor who is sitting next to you, but no its the ground. From years of nasty popcorn crashed in the surface of the ground in the movie theater. But the service is pretty well though.

I love this theater! It is well priced and it is a fun environment to take your kids to watch a movie. There is a large selection of food, the carnival like, but it is worth the entire experience! You can go early, eat a fun dinner, grab your tickets and your snacks all in the same location and watch your movie and super comfy theater seats. The decor is a little outdated, but I genuinely think thats part of the fun of going here. We live 45 minutes away from this theater and prefer this over our local, way more expensive, theaters here.
