They’ve raised the rates so that prices are similar to Central Ohio courses. However, Central Ohio courses have a larger population of golfers and the cost goes towards maintenance of the courses. I feel the maintenance of Ohio University Golf Course is below average and the raised rates are not for supporting the necessary up keep of the course and facility. Rather, they raised the rates because it’s the only course in Athens and they know the regular golfers will pay that amount to play. Additionally, the pro shop has very little merchandise and they don’t have bottles of water or Gatorade available to those playing the course. They used to have a well supplied set of drinks and they had clubs, shirts, etc. for sale. This course is only nine holes and it’s not worth the amount I paid to play. If the want to expect golfers in Athens to pay Central Ohio prices, then they need to make this an eighteen hole course and offer better practice areas (driving range at the course, practice bunker, pitching area, along with putting green). My last criticism is how the only driving range is 1 mile from the course and it’s only open from 3-7 pm. During previous golf seasons the driving range was open at noon and closed at 9. The new limited hours of operation do not reflect an average persons opportunity to go practice on the range. Most people are at work when they open and are having dinner with family between 5:30 and 6:30. Once the golfer has time to practice, the range is closed. Also, the last bucket of balls are sold at 6 pm. Therefore, you can’t arrive at 6:45 pm and expect to get a bucket of golf balls. All in all, Ohio University is failing at making golf an affordable and available activity for beginner golfers as well as veteran golfers. It’s just another reason people view golf as only for the rich. The OU course was the only place where a middle class person could go play and practice without spending too much for a round. Now, you might as well drive up to Columbus and play because most of the courses are well maintained, they offer better practice facilities and they offer more snacks and drinks.

I wish I could give this ZERO stars because when I walked in to see the golf course and ask a question about a potential job at the tennis pro shop I was belittled and aggressively shouted at about how he has “no clue what I you are Talking about” when on the Ohio university job listings that is stated as a job. I also asked if I could go to the walking path behind the golf course and I was yet again shouted at how that is so stupid and how I’m going to be PELTED w golf balls no only was his aggression uncalled for it was not warranted because their is a walking path on the golf course and behind it that connects. Also if it was so unsafe to be on the course path no one should be able to enter the walking path without a helmet in conclusion if you see a man who looks like a less rich jack black AVIOD AT ALL COSTS

Courts are in bad shape. Lots of cracks most with grass growing out of them. Wind breakers are gone, and the one that is there is not attached at the bottom.

Nice lay-out, short 9 holes. Greens have a lot of undulation and are quite fast.

Will never go back, its that simple. One of the worst golf experiences I have had. Really disappointed with the employees, especially the old ranger that was just there to heckle people and try to display his authority over us young students. Went with a few buddies to have a good time and ended up very angry. Just wasnt a good experience for me and my friends. WOULDNT RECOMMENDED! The prices arent that great either, go elsewhere, spend the money, and have a good time. This place wont provide that.

Very good condition, lots of people but pace was excellent. Great course for walking and people who dont hit it really long. I struggle with long courses but this was a fun course for me!

If I could give this place negative stars I would. My experience at the course was terrible, just pitiful. Me and my buddies (3 of us) went to play a round of 9 holes at the course. We paid for our carts and green fees and were just about to tee off when the course ranger (about 70 years of age, dude lives to ruin kids fun) came and told us that we couldnt all play out of just one bag. The course was already backed up and its not like more than one person at a time could hit anyway. After pleading with the ranger for a few minutes he still refused to let us play. Lost our money because grandpa authority wanted to display his power on the UNIVERSITY course. Will never return to this terrible establishment ever again. Do not play at this course.
