Amazing place, but the road/driveway to the bridge is deserted, so Im glad we did not go on a rainy day. Also, they have put down really horrible tiny sharp gravel that is not safe for tiny young doggies that still like to eat whats on the ground. Id watch the young ones like a hawk.

Easy access from main road. Small gravel lot with plenty of spaces. Short, well maintained walking trail with an arched footbridge in addition to the historic covered bridge. Creek runs shallow underneath the bridge and there are plenty of large rocks to easily navigate across the creek itself. No bathrooms that i noticed, but there are picnic tables and trash cans next to the trailhead.

It is quaint, quiet and just simply beautiful. It has picnic tables to enjoy a awesome packed lunch or snack with a little babbling from the water just nearby. The quiet sounds of nature surround you and hearing the wind in the trees is a perfect relaxer. I suggest taking the drive. You will love it, too.

I have visited many of the covered bridges in North Carolina, and this one is just as beautiful. It is a very historic bridge, and one of very few left in North Carolina. Sadly, most of these Bridges were torn down when highways came through. The bridge is open from dawn to dusk, and it is easily accessible from the road. There is a gravel parking.

You can walk a trail around the river or stop and have a picnic lunch by the bridge & river. My kids love climbing the huge rocks & we always take family photos here. We Absolutely love it ️

Great little historical place. Its not big or much to see, and the bridge and rocks nearby are covered in chalk art & graffiti, but its fun little tourist spot. The bridge is well maintained, picnic area clean and no trash. Walking trail and creek are beautiful. The creek is full of large rocks and I enjoyed the quick visit.

It’s truly right off the road. The trail is about ten minute walk and that’s being generous. It’s a loop back over the creek. Lots of picnic tables and trash cans - great spot for a stopover lunch or doggy potty break on a road trip...You will not have signal (i have Verizon) anywhere near there, just prepare

Its sad to see the bridge defaced with so much graffiti but still charming to know its stood the test of time (since 1911). The small 1/4 mile loop around the creek is peaceful and having picnic tables there is nice for those wanting to eat. Not much parking though, so come early if you can.

Do not waste your time. The young people of this area have decided it is an excellent place for their art which is graffiti. The interior is covered in graffiti and it is obvious no care is taken to stay on top of and remove the graffiti. This is supposed to be a state and federal landmark but the caretakers do anything but take care of it. They are either too cheap or too lazy to install a monitoring system and prosecute the vandals. If you happen to be passing by, then visit, but DO NOT make a trip of it. It is a waste. And dont let minor children inside to read some of this stuff.

This is a great place to stop if you are in Uwharrie National Forest. There is easy access to the bridge and it also has a relaxing nature trail to follow.I see previous reviews about graffiti, but I didnt see any specifically. Probably because the inside of the bridge is now painted and they encourage you to write on the walls in chalk. This made it a lot more interesting for kids and teenagers.

Also there is a small loop trail that starts to the left of the bridge and ends behind the bridge. The trail is maintained and is a great way to take in ur whole visit to the bridge. The small trail also has nice bridge that over looks a small river adding that even better experience.

Pisgah Covered Bridge, located just outside of Asheboro, is one of only two historical covered bridges remaining in North Carolina. The 54-foot bridge was built in 1911 for a cost of $40 but soon became obsolete as it couldnt handle the traffic. A two-lane road was built in the 1950s and the covered bridge fell into a state of disrepair. Recognizing the cultural heritage of the bridge, the NC Zoo Society joined with the NC DOT and other organizations to raise funds to restore and refurbish the bridge, and to build parking and picnic tables for visitors to enjoy. In 2003, the bridge was washed away in a flood, but was rebuilt the next year, using mostly the original materials that were recovered by volunteers.I had seen signs for the bridge several times while traveling to the Asheboro area, but only had the opportunity to stop recently. Crossing the West Fork Branch of the Little River, the old covered bridge is very scenic and definitely worth a stop. Besides walking across the bridge, there are some short trails to head downstream and check it out from different angles. Unfortunately, a lot of the inside of the bridge has been defaced by graffiti.

I had not been here since the 1970s. It was smaller than I remembered it being but, they have changed the roads around since way back then. I have a high school year book Eastern Randolph 1977 I think with the picture of it on the front of it. A wonderful piece of history from long ago right here in Randolph County to go visit. A beautiful stream runs under it and their are hiking trails to walk on. And a few picnic tables to sit on to rest and enjoy the view.

Such a beautiful piece of history that has been restored for all to enjoy! You can just imagine old horse and buggies rolling through this beautiful bridge in a bygone era. The stream has beautiful stepping stones to get a great look at tge bridge. And they even have a small nature trail that loops you down and around a foot bridge to the other side of the covered bridge. While I was standing on the foot stone and looking at the bridge there was such a beautiful smell of the stream and forest. Hreat eay to imerse yourself in a piece of the outdoors.
