I had been meaning to check out the DEA Museum for years and finally got around to it a few months ago, ending up spending over an hour. Theres a lot to read and the videos and artifacts are informative and interesting. Unfortunately, its especially relevant with todays drug crisis. The current exhibit closes in July and its worth a trip to see it.
This is a great little secret in the Washington DC area. We never knew about this and went. Very nice and very educational. It is due to close sometime mid July 2019 for renovation. Its free. You need to find parking on the street nearby.
This is a tiny museum dedicated to telling the story of drug enforcement. Its packed with signage so bring your glasses. Be prepared for the usual federal government security check on the way in. This is not worth going out of your way to visit. One hour is more than enough time.
I thought all the drug history and stats were pretty fascinating. Dont expect any social justice angle here, its still the DEA museum. Real full color pictures of the deceased, not many but enough, so wouldnt recommend for younger youth (less than 13-14) but thats your choice!
This is one of the most incredible places you can see, there you will find a lot of information about how the DEA started its operations against the drug dealers. You can see many things that they have seized. There are also invitations sent by presidents of the United States for the directors that the DEA has had throughout history so that these visit the white house
There was more to this museum than I expected. I may need to go back when I have more time. Very interesting and a good way to spend a few hours. Theres a fair amount to take in.
Interesting displays with lots of information about the timeline and rise of various aspects of illicit drug use. As others have notes be prepared for a lot of reading, supplemented with great pictures and displays to highlight the text.
Awesome .......
Small museum but very unique. Staff is nice. Quick walk from the Pentagon city metro.
Its an interesting, informative, well put together Museum all be it a little small. The presentations are informative and well put together and the Hall of Honor is particularly moving and informative for those that have lost their lives since the start of the program in the line of duty.
Very informative.Really cool and its FREE
Free, very small, and absolutely overflowing with detailed info about drugs and drug control in North America. Okay for kids who can read through maybe 8th or 9th grade, or older kids who are specifically interested in the material.
Decent place though a bit on the small side. Great for fans of Narcos-type shows.
History of the brave men and women of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Neat little gift shop as well.
Small but loaded with tons of interesting information and items on exhibit. Dont rush through it.
A nice, small museum with unique, wide ranging items. It appears to be targeted for younger individuals but I found it interesting. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. It also had an attached gift shop for your DEA needs.
Small museum, but strong historical details. A little hard to find. Just south of the Pentagon. Have to use street parking. On days its open, hours are from 10-4. Free.
A wonderful museumI had seen the sign many times and finally took time to visit my this is a great museum with a wealth of information. I learned many things and the exhibits are well thought out and interesting.
Very interesting small museum. Fascinating how drugs that are now illegal were once used to pacify children. Worth a short visit.
Small, but educational and interesting exhibits.
Like the funny exhibit with the Ultralight aircraft.
Small but very informative. I spent almost a hour reading everything and learned a lot.
A hidden gem, full of information. Not for little kids, but good for older kids and adults. We interacted with a wonderful docent and officers.
I spent almost 2 hours reading most of the information contained in this small museum. It offers a fascinating history of drug use and abuse in the United States. It would be of interest to any persons wanting to be more familiar with events and legislation related to the introduction of drugs and their eventual illegalization and control. I found it fascinating, thoroughly enjoyed it. You have to like reading, lots of pictures and exhibits that mean little or nothing without the accompanying text.
Less than one star. Dont go unless youre trying to get out of a thunderstorm.
It was rather single-minded in its story of drug abuse and the federal government attempt to stop it without presenting other viewpoints. However it closed for renovations two days after I saw it so this review is irrelevant.
Loved it! So very interesting! Off the beaten path near the pentegon! I highly recommend! !!!
It was a very interesting place. You learn a lot of the drugs throughout our history
Very sobering; great experience
Good museum and history of the War on Drugs including the pharmaceutical opioid crisis.
Unfortunately its closed on Mondays and I did not know that I love this place though because it helps teach children about drugs and drug smuggling and the consequences of taking drugs I think its an excellent Museum experience the people are always very friendly who work there
Great museum. Well done exhibits. Definitely worth going.
Interesting information about what the administration does. Interactive areas help with the self guided tour.
A lot of history about our nations Drug Enforcement Administrations agents. Worth the trip.
I visited this place On Tuesday July 2nd 1996 under supervision of Mr Raymond Kobyra and Ms Ginette Baum, preventive drug coordinator
Really interesting place to visit. Lots of memorable to look at.
Fun to vist and great for visitors
While there was some hilarious misinformation about marijuana and heavy handed propaganda which vilified hipsters, and jazz heads, I was, for most of the visit, frustrated and angry. The exhibits were not quite out of touch enough to be entertaining, in fact I found much of the information dangerous and regressive. Overall, Im disappointed in the museum. Its not enough of a laugh to be entertaining and is too oversaturated with propaganda to be educational.
Really cool and free museum with lots of nice exhibits. Its only open at certain times, but if you can make it, its worth the visit.
Great place to learn about stuff
Terrible! Only go there if theres immediate danger and you must take cover.
Its a fun little stop to learn some information bit it is not overwhelming and its quick enough to keep a kids iterest. Nearby plenty of other things like Pentagon City Mall and metro to make it a part of a day but not a whole day.
Sign saying it’s closed for renovations until Fall 2020.
Good museum and educated me about the history of narcotics and the DEA.
Small, easy to kill an hour but not much more. Not worth driving for but if you arebstaying in crystal/Pentagon city it would be worth a quick visit
Very nice and educational museum.
The history you can learn here about how drugs have been snuggled is very fascinating
I gotta be honest, they were going to get me anyway now im on my way to Colorado for an extended stay, I have to say well played DEA. And to the people who want to follow in my footsteps just remember im worth 5 Billion dollars and ill be living in a 10X10 for the rest of my days, just keep that in mind the next time you want to play Cartel Boss
Very Secure Building Great place for Sightseeing
Nice little museum (which you can do in about half an hour) and we also got a special talk from an agent.
Aside from their short hours (Tuesday - Friday from 10am until 4pm), this museum is pretty neat. They send you through the history of drug abuse and talk about some of the ways people manufacture and use illegal substances. It is worth a stop if youre in the area.
Undercover agent disco shoes . Enough Said.
Go if you can. Very interesting to visit.
Great educational exposure to the drug problem in America
Very interesting place, free, small but packed with information
Closed for renovations until Fall 2020.
A great little museum with great history of the Dea and drugs.
Very fascinating and interesting, must see while in D.C.
Great guided tour
It was very interesting to see the history of how drugs came about and how the criminals were caught.
One of the best kept secrets in DC...
Small but interesting
Stop by here to visit as a result of going to a training program in the local area. I like the tour and visiting of the area.
Nice museum with a good gift shop as well
