What a park!Where do I start?First, its massive. If you like hiking or biking, youll love it. RLP has an 8-mile paved biking trail, not to mention the unpaved ones, which are webbed all over the park.It has a bit of everything; open fields, kids playgrounds, BBQ area, river (saw many kayakers), a pond, trees (more like a forest), calisthenics area, an event center, and abundant parking.Oh I almost forgot, theres a science center for kids under renovation at the time of writing. Moreover, its very well maintained. Its always clean, with countless trash cans spread around.Of course, with a park of this size and vegetation, youd expect a bit of wildlife. Ive seen raccoons and snakes, and other reviewers have reported seeing other animals. So, take necessary caution. Most importantly, it feels safe. I havent heard of any concerning incidents. Still, if youll venture into deep territory, be cautious.Weekends are usually busy for the obvious reasons. Nonetheless, there is still room for everyone. No, I have no qualms about this park.Enjoy!(Excuse the photos, was CLOUDY that day)
Great park. Good playground. Plenty of benches and grilling areas. Pavilions that can be rented out for outdoor parties . Big spacious fields and great trails for bike riding, roller skating, runs and walks with the family. Beware of wild animals that live in the park. Weve seen a bob cat, raccoon, armadillo, Wolf spider on some of our walks.
Love it! What a beautiful experience this park is. It was my first time as I was doing the Susan Komen virtual walk! I would definitely go back to exercise or have lunch and a beautiful walk. The park was extremely clean, inviting and I felt very safe alone or in a group. Lots of beautiful wildlife to see. You can exercise, play sports or even barbecue. I would highly recommend this park and hopefully it will be respected and remain clean and beautiful.
My youngest daughter and I went on the walking trails in the evening. Been bringing my kids here for years! I told my daughter nocturnal animals and other critters come out right around dusk or at least when less people are around. Sure enough we heard coyotes on the other side of the river, a rabbit, thats what she thought she saw, it fast and pretty big, and a small snake crawling across the trail. Nice views of the river.
Great place to hike with kids. This park has a lot of trails. Pavement and dirt. There are several drop off areas right by the river so make sure you keep close to the little ones. The play equipment is really nice, however we only played once since we moved her in March and they have had the playground areas closed. When we first visited the had open restrooms and water fountains, but they have been closed due to the virus. We thoroughly enjoy this park for getting outside and being in nature. Make sure you bring mosquito spray and watch out for snakes. Earlier mornings and weekdays before lunch are the best time. The park is extremely busy on the weekend and weekday afternoons.
Great trail for mountain biking. It is an easier ride, so perfect for casual rides, family rides, etc. EKG is the only trail with some more technical aspects, but there is a bypass to skip this section. There are many bypasses to shorten your ride to your level, but completing the full trail will be around 10 miles. In the back there are some cool features including jumps, drops, and balancing. I would recommend checking out this trail if you are in the area, as it is a lot of fun!
Live this area! Wonderful family friendly area, lots of variety from nature walks, bike paths, open fields to cuddle up on a blanket while reading or just taking a nap, the open fields are plush with soft well-maintained Augusta grass! There are a couple large play grounds for little ones, large fields to play soccer, last time we even saw a group playing softball and there was ample room for social distancing and still enjoying ourselves! the kids and I played volleyball, people walk their dogs, throw Frisbee and I believe there a nature section as well. Wondefuk atmosphere especially during Autumn.
Love this park. Great trails for walking or riding your bike. Its a beautiful park that Ive been going to for over 20 yrs. Get out there and smell the fresh air.
We love this park. Great mountain bike trail and wonderful place to picnic with family, including small kids. Our 3 year old grandson had a great time there
Ive been going to this park since I was a child and I love going down the many trails. Everyone should be on the lookout for wildlife and flooding when it rains. Be careful on the hidden trails and beware of cliffs that lead to the river. The newer playground that was built some years ago is great for the kids and being surrounded by nature is always a plus.
This MTB trail is well loved by its community, a group of riders and volunteers called the “River Rats”. EKG is an aerobic challenge for everyone, and the rest of the trail is great for beginners.
Best park. This place has everything: 1) Eight miles of paved biking/skating/jogging trails with stripe down middle 2) Bridges and nice rest areas with beautiful views 3) Great play areas for kids 4) Hiking trails for more rugged terrain 5) Barbecue/picnic areas 6) Restrooms 7) The science center and more.
Our grandson really enjoyed the interactive displays. The walk was quiet and peaceful. ADA compliant and ample free parking.
Love this park. Plenty of space and room for anything. I love to hike here or roller skate. Also fun to bring out the hula hoops since there is a lot if grass space.
Great park with a terrific bike trail. Lots of playgrounds for the little ones. Really nice place!
It’s very pretty and peaceful. Also a great place to investigate small ghost sighting, considering that rumors say that the bridge is haunted, as well as a trail leading to a gate.
So relaxing. The trail was fantastic, kids had so much fun at the parks. We will definitely be going back
The playground we go to can be a little crowded, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Cool playground with a bathroom not too far away.
This is the best park in Arlington and maybe the best in DFW. Its huge with miles of hiking and biking trails, kids playground, and even a canoe launch on the river. Heavily wooded, open fields, water views, this is everything you look for in a public park.
This is a huge and beautiful park, it has got little bit of everything and lots of huge green areas to do any kind of activity! It also has a pavilion and a Nature Center where you can bring your kids and have a great time doing cool activities (see pictures and video). It also has a beautiful running trail that goes into the little forest!! You spend a whole day here I love it!
Beautiful park. The grounds keepers do a great job there. Very clean.
Amazing park! Great park to get your walk in or your bike ride or roller blade workout. Bring the kids! Very nice playground area. Bring the dog! They will love it! Bring a picnic lunch and find a table under a beautiful shade tree. You will love this park!
Weve been twice now and theres still more to see. Crazy, saw a bobcat!
Perfect trails and park for short and long walks, hijes or bike riding. Nice views of the lake or river With some vists you are sure to see armadillos, snakes, bobcats, red birds and more.. Cements paths are cleaned and are kept cleaned..just need visitors to understand that ONE bottle trashed here by ONE person can multiply and ruin the park..
Great park! It’s always well maintained and the trails are great. The park, in my experience, has always felt very safe. I have cycled the concrete trail at night and never once felt in danger. The DORBA trail is also a great trail ride. The facilities and group areas are nice.
Beautiful park. Very clean and inviting. Great for families, exercise groups, friends.
There are lots of trails and open fields. Its a great place to bring family or enjoy a great nature walk or bike ride.
Always a great time. We love just relax and take in the scenery
Best and big park in dfw area. There is a good mountain bike trail too.
I love walking this area. Nice path, friendly area, not too many weird creatures but they dont bother you.
Has a park for younger children, a place to work out. 3 different areas for outdoor parties. Alot of parking space. Also a bike and walking trail with great nature views
Beautiful park and nature area. All sorts of trails to walk and bike on. Reserve the pavillions....otherwise you will NOT get one.
Love walking the trails and seeing nature at its finest, including bobcats, copperheads, armadillos, alligator gars swimming right in front of us, coyotes, ginormous alligator snapping turtles. Recommend any single person or couple to visit!
My favorite trails for riding my bicycle once in a while. Well maintained
Beautiful day today to enjoy the sun at AS. Spent time with the family on the grass and also at the kids playground - hidden behind the trees. Lol. Must visit if youre from out of town.
JUNE 2014: Under construction so that was a fail. But Im sure its nice when its not. I took public transportation here and it was a breeze. Im sure parking would be hard.
Large shaded trails where you can bike or hike. Awesome off road biking area. Nice playground and plenty of open fields. Nice size pavilions and clean restrooms.
Great Park, walking trails, play grounds, nature center. We were there for the Mountain Bike trail. Great trail for beginners.
Very good paved, mile and a quarter long, trail that goes parallel to the W Fork Trinity River in between row of trees. Lots of picnic areas and Mountain biking facilities as well.
This park, and trail is amazing, we love going to this one at night. There are a ton of animals that come out at night. Raccoons, frogs, possums, armadillos, a deer or two as well.
Great park. We only played at one section. It is a big park. Biking and walking trails are good.
This is the first park our family went to in Texas and still our kids’ favorite park. There are several play grounds, lots of open grass to run in, shaded picnic tables, a fishing pond, and extensive paved and unpaved walking trails. I love the big open feel this park has. Plenty of space for everyone.
This place has a lot of exciting things to do just like hiking and biking.
Always a nice place to relax or do some outdoor exercising (running, playing, biking). Big open green spaces, family friendly, plenty of trails.
Very nice biking and walking trails. Cyclists are more considerate than other trails Ive been to around the Metroplex. You definitely get the nature trail experience.
Great place to hike. Has a long bike /walk path and plenty of trails through the woods.
One of the best parks in all of DFW, it’s location is right close to I-30 and 360 in Arlington. It has nice cured fields and 10 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails for all kinds of experience levels. They also have 10 plus miles of paved trails right next to trinity river and also by the reservoir at the Viridian. One of the best places to go to get a break from the noise and intensity of the city.
Nice park and after all the construction is done its going to be a great park, but right now its hard to get around in certain areas.
This place has great bike trails, both concrete and off road. I try to go here 2-3 times a month.
It’s a great place to relax, have a picnic with your family and The river is close by, all in all very awesome to get out and go walking. I love it!
This is easily one of the best trails I been on. It is fairly easy to not lose track so you don’t have to wonder where you are without the map. It was muddy on some paths due to the rain a few days before but I had a great time. I look forward to revisiting this place to explore other nature spots.
It is a great place for a walk, run, or bike. Beautiful scenery and trails.
Love this park, plenty of parking, clean restrooms, lots of walking trails and bike trails. theres always a few ice cream trucks passing by! Today I saw a rabbit near the walkway and a tiny frog/toad! Last time we went we saw a coyote and a copperhead snake very close to our feet. Really scary but beautiful snake! Oh and its a great place for pokemon go fans!
So much to see and explore. Trail hikes and bicycle rides. Plenty of places to picnic or bbq. Love to visit.
Theyve added so many attractions to this park. Its a great place to enjoy a day, here in Arlington. From the walking trails and wildlife attractions to the indoor nature center with interactive games and exhibits, youre sure to love this place!
Amazing place to go if you need a quick escape to nature. Love coming here for biking, rollerblading, early morning yoga, walking my dog.. and just hiking around! The place has been around since I was a kid and has been maintained marvelously over the years! Family friendly, dog friendly, and very smooth, wide paved walkways for a wide range of activities!
I went to this place for the first time early in the morning yesterday. I heard many good things about the trails, so I had my sister go with me for a walk early in the morning. Fyi, you guys will encounter coyotes, Bobcats, and many other small animals there. Which that wasnt even the scary part. We get to the very top of the peak to wear we stopped for a bit to look at the beautiful scenery. After awhile, we see a man randomly come up and he disappears into the trees. We didnt think anything of it. Just assumed the guy was trying to explore nature as well. 10 minutes in, we later catch the man fondling himself hiding in the trees staring at us. It was by far the most uncomfortable thing ever. We ran out of there cause we felt he was after us. I am posting this comment to spread awareness to our women. Please be safe! & dont go alone!
Beautiful park.. great for running and biking. It has 15 miles (back and forth) well maintained trail.
Theres this part on the main path that is a lumpy and slick dirt detor. Its very hard to ride your bike though it. While on it you have very little traction, and if it has rained recently its near impossible to bike though it. The main path has been shut down for over a year now. Im not sure when it will reopen but if its not going to, atleast improve the dirt path.
Beautiful park. I love going here to ride my bike
We took some first-time trail mountain bikers (under the age of 12 and over 40) and found every trail exciting and fun to ride. Trails and trail type were clearly marked. Cut-off points were easy to see as well. Cut-offs are helpful for bypassing a loop if people get tired or have an emergency and need to get back to the parking lot more quickly.Hikers walk in the opposite direction of bicycles.Everyone had so much fun we almost road fifteen miles. The difficult sections are clearly marked and separate from the easier trail. Aside from the challenging sections the trail is mostly flat. Kids on 20” bikes had no trouble riding up the few inclines, and back down again. The adults really enjoyed the experience - we are beginner mountain bikers also. All smiles for everyone! Thanks DORBA! (Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association)
This is a huge park. Always clean and lots fo trails to hike. Or you can just grab coffee and come sit here to relax/read
I love coming here, wether to ride the bike trails, or to hike some trails, especially when it is just to have a picnic and enjoy the weather with my family. There is always something to do here and I love that.
Beautiful, lots of parking, free entrance. What else could you ask for!?
Nice clean park with lots of trails. There are numerous benchs for rest stops along the trails, some play areas for children and some pavillions for lounging.
I like coming here to do at 3 to 6 mile hike with my plate carrier I enjoy it because no one bothers me
Great place for walks and bikes!
Great place for running, biking, camping, picnics. Amazing way to spend a day.
Nice pond, with decent structure, a nice view, and of course bass. It was still too cold to say much about the vegetation, other than there is some. I think I caught 2 dinks, but they weren’t tiny. This place is probably awesome when it warms up.**A lot of these ponds could benefit from the culling of smaller fish, or the transplant if larger fish. Of course, if people only take fish, a couple of people could clear this pond of bass on a good day.**
Had a great time on this trail! Nature has so much to offer if we just stop to look around.
Super cute park, my kids love it. Only issue is the benchs around the park area, theyre very tall & small so I had to jump to get on it.
This place is awesome. Walking, biking, playgrounds, mountain biking trails. Has everything.
Best playground and overall park it is great need more shaded areas but great park
Best place to do better things️️and feel better
Love this park it’s such a great place for Walking, Parties, and has a cute playground for the kiddos
Great place to take the kids. Staff is friendly and helpful!!
This trail is perfect for beginner.
This was a cute interactive place for our children. It is free for the trails and the small part as you walk in but the travel interactive exhibit costs a few dollars. It is worth it. My kids ages 8,7, and 3 enjoyed it. The view to the water is beautiful and worth through the walk through alone. Hours of fun and even better that the attractions are changed out every few months.
Love the long trails. Perfect for running, walking, roller blading, biking and more. The nature is awesome, especially the beautiful flowers & animals you see along the way.
Great trails and a nice quiet place to hear a bit of nature! Ive enjoyed this place for years!
Gorgeous park an huge. Lots of fun to be had. Bike/walking trails an a big play ground for children..
I’m from out west where everything is flat and brown so being able to go somewhere like River Legacy is a dream! You can go to their park area or go on their trails for any kind of day you want. Love this place so much.
Canopied trail is awesome biking or walking in the shade no matter the weather.A small amount of rain causes flooding at the 157 entrance easily and frequently during spring and fall.
Beautiful place to bring your family. If you hit the trail with no emergency assistance you really get to see the wild life. Bob cats stroll along the trail, snakes curl up on the trail and once a coyote sat next to the trail as people walked by. Amazing place. Lots of snakes though...
Its a great place to get out and get some fresh air right now.
Coyote around stay alert ..it was scary to me though
Very nice place for play and relax, but on our most recent visit we stayed late and were disappointed to find out that there were no street lights in the kids area.
Beautiful park, with beautiful views! This park is along what River Legacy identifies as 7.5 miles of trails. The actual park itself is around mile marker 2-3. There is unfortunately quite a bit of needed repairs being made on the trails, but it’s taken them over a year. The trails are not the safest in these areas so use caution when walking/running/riding.
Great ride....again. Not very busy and dry!
Arlingtons best park. Great trails.
It was a nice park plenty of playgrounds good open fields and shaded areas for relaxing
We had a wonderful time here! The park is very lush and beautiful with so many things to search for and the science center is a wonderful place of learning and staff who are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They clearly love what they do here!
Nice park, south entrance is a bit rough, no clear marked trails but definitely nature
Great park. Met this snail. Nice guy. 5 Stars.
Beautiful scenery I love jogging here and even visiting to relax and read a book.
Great trails. The more technical bike routes are great for testing helmet impact protection.
