The Arcata Marsh is educational, accessible, and ultimately magical! It contains a fantastic little trail system to hike and bike on, surrounded by ponds and lakes and bordering Humboldt Bay.There are tons of great birds of all types for viewing, and various nature walks are offered there at different times.It’s a great place to walk your dog (on leash), and they offer free poop bad from kiosks if you forget to bring yours.On any given day there are many friendly people from all walks of life enjoying the beauty of the trails for site seeing or exercise, but it never feels crowded.Since it’s right on the outskirts of Arcata, it’s super easy to get to and parking is almost never a problem.The Arcata Marsh is a goto spot for me when I want to get out in nature, get a little exercise, and give my dog some exercise! I probably go almost every weekend I’m in town! Go check it out!! Highly recommend!!

One of my favorite places to visit in Humboldt. The ducks are so cute. I never get tired of looking at birds. There is always a good place to park and nice clean trails to walk on.

Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary is definitely one of the best places to visit in Arcata and is a MUST for any wildlife or bird enthusiast. The Marsh is located directly along the Pacific Flyway and contains hundreds of species of birds including many migrating species that cannot be seen anywhere else in California. The Arcata wastewater treatment facility incorporated the Marsh into its design and its 4 treatment pools double as nature areas complete with dog walking and jogging paths. It is so beautifully maintained and designed that you wouldnt know it was part of the water treatment unless there were signs posted. Keep an eye out for the rare river otters that call these wetlands home!!!!

Spring time. Everything is flowering and lots of vegetation plus frogs galore. Many types of birds including but not limited toGreat Egrets Mallards Buffleheads Green wing teals Geese Osprey ... winter is mild the same with less growth occuring. Great place, check tides to view different species
