I absolutely love waking/ hiking here. I take my kids on the Four Seasons trail and Poplar trail. Both are 1/2 mile loops with good views and can bring a stroller if its not muddy. I like to hike the Deer Run trail which is 2.5 miles and goes through woods, wetlands, woods and also has 2 different outlook towers good for pictures. You cross ponds and creeks. Its just a beautiful walk. I highly recommend all the trails. Lots of parking, bathrooms are open and clean and trails are well groomed and taken care of. The last few days I was there they were muddy in a few spots but you can still hike them. Just wear shoes your ok with getting muddy.
Very hard to pick only a few photos to upload. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The building itself is fantastic as well from the accommodations to the staff.Depending on how dry it is the family can come and walk with a stroller on the Poplar Pass trail or Four Seasons trail. I would not stroller any of the other trails and if it rained a few days before take caution.Make sure to bring your mosquito repellent as well during later hours.
Very disappointed in the overall service provided from Buboltz for my wedding (08/30/20). The wedding was outside in the pines (ceremony only). Our wedding was very laid back not many decorations but did ask for 2 tables and a bar to be set up outside. My husband had to carry the tables outside and set up the bar which was only a card table - had to pay extra for this. We went through multiple event coordinators within a year and a half from time of booking to the wedding - conversations with previous coordinators were not documented. If you want a stress free day - I would highly recommend finding a vendor with a better event team who will make sure your day runs smoothly.
This is a personal favorite. The nature trails are perfectly manicured and my son loves the turtle pond. They often have seasonal activities, particularly for Halloween and the Winter months. A must see more than once!
My daughter got married on 9-12-2020 at Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve. Was a beautiful venue. But, they are trying to make a quick dollar lost with pandemic. They charged FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! Was suppose to be an open bar for the guests, but the guests werent even informed that there was an open bar and what choices of beverages were free!! So, the grooms parents paid the beverage bill per person and the guests paid for their own drinks!!!!! If that isnt trying to make money off of people I dont know what is. Poor service!!!!Also, had to pay extra for pub tables that should have been included in the price of the venue already. And, then wanted to charge extra for tablecloths as well!!!! Everything was for an extra charge......not very friendly to work with. Lots of transitions of staff as well.
Did not even want to give 1star. Beautiful place that my 9 year old son and I not able to enter . Due to a a youth hunt being held the next day? Was greeted by older gentleman that was very rude to us. Then got in his own vehicle and left. Not sure if he employee or not?? But he left my son feeling terrible, like we had done something wrong. My son said I did not know you could close nature too mom since we in midst of pandemic and hiking are only form of relief we had been looking forward to this hike. I guess I should of checked website, but really didnt think I would have to on a Monday afternoon. P.S. nothing like paving paradise.. should of kept it the way it was. Now it has lost some of it beauty.......
We went on a sunny day for a quick walk with our two little kids (1 and 3 years old) with a stroller. There were some muddy parts but it was a really nice place, despite the heat. Trails were well marked and maintained. Lots of nature and wildlife (especially in the pond area). So close to Appleton, too. Will definitely be back.
I desperately needed a place close to my apt to be in the woods and now Ive found it! Lovely trails, lots of trees, flowers, various greenery, bees, butterflies, and turtles. We enjoyed the place very much.
Wedding at Bubolz - The Pines (outdoor) wedding venueTerrible Coordination/Communication, Overcharged, Bad ContractWe are significantly underwhelmed with our experience of getting married at Bubolz Nature Preserve. First off, the venue has gone through three different employees as event managers. This caused a lot of issues with coordination between us and the venue, as you could imagine. Some of our must have options, that we had agreed upon with the past employees became a fight for them to happen after new employees took over. I personally had to set-up the bar, which was really just a folding card table without even a table cloth, and the tables that we had requested. On top of it all, the venue managers are charging us an extra $1,000 for a backup space to the outdoor ceremony, even after discussing that we did not need or want a back-up space with a previous employee. Even though the contact says that we paid an amount in full, they are still charging us this after the fact, with no mention of it prior. It is really too bad that such a beautiful place for weddings is mismanaged to such a degree. I only recommend if you are up for a fight.
Always well kept and clean area. Highly recommended
Great place to hike. Trails could be a little better. Some are super muddy (often).
Very nice trails for dog walking except for the fact that they dont allow dogs which is unfortunate.
NICE PLACE FOR A WEDDING BUT NOT A LOT OF CHOICES AT THE BAR.
Just what the soul needs away from the chaos of the world. Wonderful discovery in Appleton. Thankful
Trail options are awesome with different distance choices. Turtle pond alone is worth the trip out here!
Very beautiful hidden gem in Appleton, 5 trails, excersing stations all throughout! Pretty big for any outdoor idea u have
We love the trails and pond at Bubolz. This year we have bot been inside due to the pandemic.
Loved it! It will even be 100% better once things can start to open back up.
Was very wet with the thaw going on but still had a great walk with the family. Great activity spots all thru out the area! Was glad to see restrooms open to the public outside the lodge. Just kind of feel like they could do something like golf courses and have one port-a-john at furthest point from the lodge.
Nice place for a walk. Very peaceful.
Great place to go walking or jogging. You just need to be careful if it has rained recently as there are several low spots and the trails are in need of repair. As such it can get muddy fairly quickly in several areas. Plenty of parking and public bathrooms which is very convenient.
It was very nice! Everyone was considerate and polite. We appreciated the restrooms being available and clean! Thank you.
Beautiful facility to host gatherings or celebrations. Staff was friendly and easy to work with.
There are many pasttimes to do these days, but walking for five miles with a massive stick through hordes of sprinting deer, muddy frogs, and vicious turtles is one of my favorites. Id recommend it to anybody who needs time to reflect on themselves and the world around them. Bring bug spray.
Was a beautiful setting for my daughters wedding.
The trails that are open are beautiful, if you can figure out which one youre on. The intersections are barely marked and the trails not at all. Simple color bands on posts would be a great update. And there were several trails that werent even on the map at all. Hopefully after they finish construction theyll work on updating the trails and references.
My wife and I were very impressed with the variety and quality of the trails. Its a great place to bring the family for a day-hike or just some fresh outdoor air.
Love the walking trails not the classes.
Awesome facility, we go their for skiing and snow shoeing. Enough room there that you get the wilderness feeling without the feeling lost. On holidays they have a some crowding but it seems that everyone is there for a good time so never had a issue getting on the trails.
Been going to Bubolz for years to recharge the soul. We’re all so lucky to have this. And it’s really cool for all they’ve done to help the environment. Gotta check it out!!
Lot of mosquitos better be prepared once going for walks
Great place to visit with family or just for a solo nature walk! The green energy work being done at this site is outstanding and definitely worth taking a close look at. The staff is very helpful and friendly, theres crafts for the kids most weekends and plenty of wildlife.
Clean facilities and great trails. There is a lot of care put into this place. Top notch!
This is a very beautiful nature preserve which has some great buildings for events and such as well! The grounds are well kept but still feel natural and pure.I’d recommend it to anyone looking to get out just a bit into nature, but who still might want a restroom and air conditioning/heat nearby.
Nice in spring, you can hear the frogs in the ponds chirping.
Well mantained grounds and building. Very eco-friendly to the environment and caring and educational thereof. Friendly staff and very happy to help with anything. Many trails to walk and explore. Great for families to spend time together. Everything is excellent in educational hands on, many of tailored to school aged children.Year round events hosted for the schools to learn more about the environment. Able to host a wide variety of meetings and events, be sure to book early as possible as events can get booked fast. Open to the public during normal daylight to twilight hours and sometimes closed when an evening event is in duration. Overall the greatest place to visit and create memories.
In the city but an opportunity to get lost for an hour with the kids.
CAPTAINS. We ran a safe ride home program for the wedding party and quest tonight
Beautiful place!!
Beautiful area. Great place to go for a walk with the family.
Very nice. We went on a guided hike and it was very fun and informative for the kids.
Super pretty place and they always have fun events.
Really nice hike and park to visit
A great way to get up and enjoy nature on a nice day.
We had our wedding reception here 7/31/18. While there were a few things wed have liked to have done (Im telling you, Amber, if youre reading this... Flowers on the moose!) I understand their policies dont allow exactly everything to happen. But what I can tell you is that everything went off without a hitch (aside from the decorator we hired-- Sweet N Easy Events-- dont hire them.)Bubolz really does do their best to be accommodating, and the place makes an amazing backdrop for a reception. Partnered with the Marq, Id say everything was as near perfect as anyone can hope for. Thank you guys!
My kids love the turtles in the pond. I like running the trails. Great for a family walk.
The new facility was gorgeous inside and out. Staff very friendly and the trails are awesome.
Newest site of EV chargers in Appleton/grand chute has 2 stage2 and 4 Tesla destination chargers and you can likely charge with solar on a sunny day ...great planning by this extraordinary organization.
Great to walk the trails
The trails were awesome. There are different length trails so you can decide how long you want to walk around. Feeding the turtles was so much fun
The trails are well marked. They have a wonderful new room for youngsters. The lodge is beautiful and a great venue for an event. Once they finish the playground, it will be 5 stars.
Great place for a nature walk, will definitely return.
This is right in out any Appleton residents back door. The winter trails are wonderful with cheap rentals and very friendly staff
Wow! Very impressed by the dedication to alternative energy. It was educational and fun. Everyone should enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. Love the old growth forest so close to Appleton. Off Lynndale.
The venue was wonderful. Lots of space with clean newer tables and chairs for having a family reunion. The many outside trails and activities available were great.
Attended the candle light snowshoe. Great event, beautiful trails
We attended the Glow in the Snow tonight - well organized, well run, amd excellent fun. We hope to attend many more bubolz events!
5 stars for - Nice new facilities.Neat micro grid / solar energy technology application.1 star for-Trails are mostly muddy.Dont rely on signage, bring a map.Lots of uprooted trees.Im pretty sure this place is a marsh.
Great place for exploring with the kids
Amazing programs for kids, families and adults over gorgeous naturally landscaped grounds with trails & areas of interest and a beautiful Nature Center. We love Bubolz and everything it has to offer.
Beautiful place for a morning walk
It was lovely. They are raising 3 monarch caterpillars that my garden would not be able to feed. ( no milkweed ). They have a great gift shop too.
Great way to spend time outdoor learning about nature.
They have a lot of nice programs for kids.
The Nature Preserve itself was beautiful but the two workers The Old Man and the old woman ruined it all because they have an ugly personality they were completely disrespectful we were there with a group of 40 fifth graders I believe the two workers had the expectations of all the children would sit and do exactly what they are told if anybody has ever been around a 5th Grader you know why that is an unrealistic expectation I would go again if I knew that the two workers were not going to be there
Really needs some updated things inside has been the same for 20 years but love the trails
It is well planned out for some great walking/hiking with about 4 or 5 trails of varied lengths in and out of the sun. There is an indoor area, but only open weekdays M-F. It is easy to find and has alot of parking space. Great for family picture taking while on the trails also
Peaceful and quiet. Lots of trails to explore. Fun couples outing and completely free.
Love nature. Only bad part was some trails were very muddy and full of water and there was a wedding and the people were very rude to other people not from the wedding that just wanted to walk around. Did hear gun shots and saw a deer on a trail running
Great venue for a wedding. Very picturesque.
My family & I Love this nature Preserve . Weve enjoyed it for the last 20 plus years.
This trail/nature preserve looked like a tornado had been through it. Maybe it had? Nothing but a sea of downed trees and stagnant water. Oh, and 6 Tesla chargers for whatever reason. Droop.
This is one of my favorite places in the valley. There are several miles of interweaving trails to explore in the summer and many of them are groomed for cross country skiing in the winter. The newly renovated nature center is beautiful. There are ski and snowshoe rentals available as well as a gift shop in the nature center.
Miles and miles of beautiful nature trails! Come snowshoe more miles of trails in the winter, but still enjoy less miles of trails thatll be more green & teaming with life, while walking on them in the summer :) Theres also a multi-events building and nature center to enjoy.
We had a recent event there in there newer building with about 100 people and the facility and room were amazing. The scenery from the room is beautiful, even this time of year. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and easy to work with. I would recommend this venue for corporate events and even weddings.
Very nice for little hikes
Such a nice place. The whole family loves it there!
Always great hiking and nice it is so close to town.
Absolutely beautiful place. The conference area, walking trails, and everything is just great. So much fun to take the family to. Highly recommend!
Theyve just built a new facility that functions as both a community space as well as a banquet or small convention center. Having just had my wedding reception there, I can say the event coordinating staff is absolutely amazing and will work with you on almost every detail of your event to make sure it goes how you envision. Really cannot recommend them highly enough.
Dont go here before sundown the bugs are INSANE. Other then that its absolutely epic!!!
Nice place to take a hike and let the kids burn off some energy
I attended an event where you could ski the paths at night. They were lit up by tiki torches. It was beautiful. I cant wait to go back during the day.
Beautiful and peaceful
Very beautiful!!
Very nice place. Was there for an event in the main center and its nicely new/renovated. Audio system needs work
Dont appreciate the new additions to the preserve, but its still very beautiful. Nice walking trails and plenty of animals.
Beautiful trails. Well laid out.
I Love that they don’t allow dogs through these trails, it keeps the trails clean and less stressful to walk or jog through! Glorious different trails to explore! Beautiful spot in almost any weather-wear boots in slushy weather!
