UPDATED:My first experience with this store was not the greatest.I am all about second chances and my next few experiences were very pleasant.They have a great selection of fish however the prices are at top retail. With that said the options of bigger fish are great. The reason for the heavier price tag is they keep a lot of fish that are grown and nicer to look at than some no color fry other stores offer.

I have been buying fish here for years, and have always had a good experience. The two main staff members recognize me when I come in, and are helpful in answering my questions. The only negative has been a long wait for help at times when the store is busy. I will continue to support a local store with well cared for fish over the box stores.

A Wet Pet is where I choose to go for aquarium supplies and know how. I found this store a couple years back after I had already started my aquarium hobby. They are very knowledgeable. They do nothing but fish and plants so anyone that works there really knows their stuff. I drive a long ways to get there but I continue to go back. Ive always had good luck with the fish, plants and other products Ive purchased there.

I have read the few bad reviews, but I dont think A Wet Pet is responsible for a customers lack of awareness. I do my own research on fish compatibility, and if I do have any questions, the staff is very helpful with finding a match. They can also point you towards many of the unique fish that arent carried at a chain store. The prices are a little higher, but the selection is always plentiful and interesting, the fish are well cared for, and it is really worth it to support a local store. We have bought 4 or 5 different types of fish ranging from angels and hatchets, to gobys and rams. We have never had any problems. I would definitely recommend this store.

I liked the idea of supporting a small business, but I dont think Ill be going back here again.The positives: small business, one of their younger (male) employees is friendly and helpful, variety of fish, clean tanks (and they keep betta in tanks, not tiny little cups).Negatives: one employee (female) is very unfriendly. I felt like she couldnt get me out of the store fast enough, and its a negative experience that I just cant afford to repeat. Also, prices are high.Overall, if you know exactly what you need and dont need to interact with any employee, it might work out for you. But I expect courteous treatment and will be shopping elsewhere.

Went in for some suction cups for my filter, gentleman behind the counter was very very helpful with that and showed me some fish that would fit my mini tank perfect. Found my new fish store! Thanks guys!

Both Greg and the woman (unfortunately I did not catch her name) are very helpful. I went in to inquire about a fish tank issue that I was having, she told me what to do and told me not to buy the antibiotics because it was unnecessary - whereas a normal fish store would probably not know exactly how to pinpoint your problem and tell you to buy unnecessary drugs. They are very helpful and will pull out books and diagrams to help you understand it and pin point your problem. I gave her a very broad and vague description about the problem I was having and she was able to figure it out right away. They might be a little overpriced but I would rather have a fish store that took care of the fish and were more expensive over a store that was cheap but did not take care of their fish properly.

Both staff members are incredibly informed with anything that has to do with a fish or a tank and accessories. I knew absolutely nothing about fish but I decided to take up this hobby about 3 years ago. I have had no problems with fish compatability or dying fish thanks to A Wet Pet. Not to mention they take great care for their livestock and are willing to repurchase anything you do not like or do not find up to par.

Anytime Im there they answer all my questions with great detail and honesty. Good selection, and great service. Love it!

I hate this fish store. When I first got into saltwater aquariums I depended on them to help get me started. They decided that it was best that I got a starter kit aquarium. Of course they didnt tell me that this was for use of fresh water only. With improper filtration my fish kept dieing and I would buy more from them. And they died again. So I bought the same fish at Petco across the street and Ive had that fish for 5 years! I sank hundreds of dollars into this worthless fish store and they barely even know how to start up a tank.

We bought a small nano tank for my son this Christmas. Everyone was very helpful with tons of information on the types of fish, and live plants to get the aquarium up and running. They spent as much time as we needed to get the answers and made us feel like we were important and valuable customers and it was our first visit!There was a small issue with the pump that came with the nano tank and they were very helpful in fixing the problem and getting things right.I definitely recommend you stop in and see what they have!

Update 07/27/2016- Going out of business signs are up. Sad to see them leave.This is the only tropical fishstore in Apple Valley/Burnsville other than big box stores. They have a decent selection of freshwater fish, all the supplies I need. Janet, the store manager, is very knowledgeable, she has years of experience in the industry and can answer all your questions.Greg the owner is also very knowledgable.Im glad theyre around and that theyre local. If you keep fish, this should be your first lcoal stop.

Great Store. The Employees are knowledgeable and honest.

Good location for fish and underwater life, plus help to resolve problems.
