I am not sure the stars really matter here -- the whole campus was amazing, and the crypt was an interesting part of the naval history there. John Paul Jones was a fascinating character whose remains were relocated to the crypt below the cathedral. The tomb is ornate, marble with dolphins, and JPJs history can be found on the walls encircling it. Worth visiting if you enjoy random historical tidbits!
Well worth the trip. Seeing the crypt of a Revolutionary hero was very special
Ive not yet begun fighting.... Bring your IDs to get on base, theres a handicap entrance around the right if the church that takes you strait to the crypt, also its ok if you are not with a tour, just hang back, and wait for them to go, then follow. If you enter cathedral go up and make a left then take those steps down.
Perfect example of the Russian-American part of history.
There are many chapels surrounding the place and the coffin is immaculate.
Located under the chapel of the naval academey. Open to the public, but 18+ will need to show ID. Intresting history.
If you like early American history you have to visit the Crypt. I literally stumbled on this.
Amazing!
Great
Flew over the John Paul Jones crypt and said some prayers for him.
