Beautiful views and lots of beach, which can be hard to come by! Not much else there tho for those looking to really hike about. Its $3 a car to enter and lines back up because people dont know how to use the electric toll booths effectively. Very convenient stop off for anyone headed over bay bridge.

Sandy Point State Park is a good location of you just want to get a little beach feeling. You can play volleyball, grill, swim, sunbathe, and just enjoy your day. Even offer a baseball court. The day I went was towards the end of the summer so there wasn’t to many people at one spot just enough to find a open space on the sand to relax. Definitely wouldn’t recommend wearing light shoes since the sand there stains orange. The sand isn’t fine it’s more of a rougher sand but still enjoyable.

Great place to come with kids this fall. Beautiful November weekday, it was not crowded but everyone there was very respectful of distance and masking. The north beach was closed off for parking but you can walk on the trails over to there and its even more quiet and peaceful. May empty playgrounds for the kids to play on without worrying, and sand and quiet beaches.

Small man-made beach, reddish sand, but clean and great view of sail boats, the bay bridge, etc. Not much wading area. The State park provided restrooms, grills for almost every picnic table, the fishing area is separated from beach visitors. I saw thoughtful people empty their grills into larger yellow bins for the state park personnel to remove later.

Large Bayside State Park with Views of the Bay bridge, MDs Eastern Shore, Sandy Point Shoal Light House and more.In the off-season leashed dogs are welcome. The the park is extraordinarily busy in peak season for good reason Its a fantastic place to spend the day. But if youre coming during peak season prepare to come very early and to get in the park, They will close the park once it reaches capacity. My favorite time is off peak it is less busy and has plenty of parking. In peak season Memorial day to Labor day the park offers concessions, all restrooms and showers are open as well as the Marina shop. The park is very clean and monitored by park rangers. The park also offers ramps so its a great place to launch your boat or jet ski to have access to numerous points on the bay such as, Annapolis, Eastern shore etc. One last tidbit, during the holidays the park offers drive-thru Christmas lights. I personally go every year and enjoy it immensely.Go to the Sandy point State Park website to check the entry fee for the event and others that are held throughout the year ie: Polar Bear plunge, Seafood Festival etc.Hope this was helpful and enjoy Nature!

Sandy Point was AMAZING and brought back so many memories of when we used to go there. Had a blast even during massive heat wave and our space and setup was nothing but truth. We walked with our own grill, tents, DJ, personal entertainment, food, drinks galore, and so much more and shut down the park. AND WE WERE RIGHT NEAR THE BRIDGE. Park police had to beg us to leave and everyone wanted to join own crew-- but NONO, ITS CORONAVIRUS BABY!!! LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT OUTING IN AUGUST LATER THIS MONTH. SANDY POINT WAS GREAT!! JUST GO PREPARED FOR THE DAY TO MAXIMIZE ON YOUR FUN. LADY G.

The park is beautiful and there is plenty to do. There is a nice playground for kids and grassy areas with picnic tables and grills. They have a decent sized food bar and showers in the bathroom. If you’re going for a great beach experience, the water is great but the sand is pretty course. Not your typical sand castle sand. The beach itself can get pretty crowded, but overall it’s a great, family-friendly day trip!

This is a really cute park. There are small waves, making for relaxing floating and swimming. There is a wooded area where people cookout in the shade. There are some trees on the beach which was a great relief since we didnt have an umbrella. There were lots of hammocks, but Im not sure if those belonged to visitors or the park. The only reason I wouldnt give it 5 starts is because the water is about as dirty as one might expect being in a highly populated area with a major highway bridge nearby.

Ya know, it was kinda okay, but for some reason they didnt let the sun out but for a few minutes. Also, we went for a swim and the water was only 66 degrees. Clearly, the heated vents dont work correctly. On the plus side, the cleaning system seems to work reasonably well, as we couldnt see any of the dead bodies floating down from Baltimore. So, not perfect. -2 for the lack of sun & cold water, but +1 for the lack of bodies.4 stars.

Im sure it can get full but there really is a lot of parking. We parked toward the back on purpose and didnt think the walk to the beach was bad, with a 4 year old. The bathrooms were fine, not great, not clean, but fine. The beach area to the left as you walk from the parking lot has areas that dont have water access but slightly right from there is where we found the most space with water access on a very crowded day to set up our beach tent 10 ft or so from other people around us. To the right from the parking lot was very packed. We didnt even bother walking there. I didnt see food so if it is there it is not well advertised. I dont recall seeing a trashcan. The beach has coarse sand but its okay. The water has small rocks at the edge of the water. They werent any problem. Were happy with it for a beach only an hour from the DC area. I took off a star for no full height showers to use to get the sand of you. We only found foot washers.

The park was nice and big and had lots of places to go. The water had lots of jelly fish and kids were crying because they kept getting stung. The biting flies were the worst though. They were non stop and it made it very unpleasant to be there. We left after 45 minutes. If it wasn’t for the biting flies it would have been okay. Sandy Point State Park is a state-owned, public recreation area located on Sandy Point at the western end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The park grounds include the Sandy Point Farmhouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, which is undergoing restoration and is not open to the public. Great for family gathering. They have a park, concession stand, mini Beach shop, and picnic tables with nearby grills. Trash cans are ONLY by the concession stand. Due to maintence, the showers in the building are closed. There is 1 beach shower you can use. Also bring your own Hydrocortisone cream and stingkill, since the first aid department cannot administer anything to you or your child if you get stung by a jellyfish. You can use floating devices ONLY when a lifeguard is on duty (10am-5pm). Overall $5 a person isnt bad. Bring a mask cause people will bombard your space even if you try to keep your area 6ft all away around from others.

Seemed like there were plenty of pavilions and grills to use. Parking was $3 that day (off-season price?) but free for military and veterans, you just have to ask and provide an ID. Watch out for the grassy areas along the parking lot. Nice beach. Small, lots of pebbles. Very crowded considering Covid pandemic. I would not like to go there when they are at full capacity. We got lots of jellyfish stings and had enough of that after about an hour. But, aside from the jellyfish, which we couldnt see to avoid in the murky water, we had a great time. The water temperature was very comfy in the first week of August, and the waves were gentle. The view of the bridge was lovely. There were changing rooms, which were nice. Be aware that the changing stalls in the mens room have no doors or curtains, so my husband had to go in with my son and stand in the doorway to give him cover. Young male children or men who dont want to change in front of everyone may want to wear their swimsuits to the beach. Also, theres no soap or hand sanitizer, so bring your own. Price is $5 per person.

Sandy Point was great for me today, I actually went fishing there today and did very well. I caught a white perch that was my PB today. They were closing the park early and had police turning people away. Sandy Point official need to work on properly notifying the public about the opening and closing times in advance. People in general have to travel a significant distance to get there to be turned around. This is not the way out tax dollar should work for us. With that in mind I cannot give Sandy Point State park 5 stars, because this to me is very important (Proper Communication).
