As deep-woods as a suburban park gets. Great trails that are clean. Fun to wade in the stream and catch small fish and crayfish. Really beautiful in the fall.

Was very much impressed by the awesome majesty of this spectacular park. The hike and bike trails are well maintained, taken care of and organozed by the fairfax county park staff and management btw. there was no trash and litter anywhere at all. the creek and stream crossings were perfectly super easy to navigate. parking lot was ok but they need to fill some potholes. busy on easter sunday.

The trail is very short but a nice walk, my son on wheelchair had no issue

Great for walks, gravel paths were well kept. LOTS of poison ivy! If you bring kids keep them aware of the plants.

Surprisingly beautiful trail with lots of trees that goes a decent distance. A few stream crossings on concrete bollards, which were easy and fun.

Holmes run II park is continuation from round three park and valley stream park intersects Holmes run Il park about 1/3 of the way. If you take valley stream park down to hummer road you will hit a beautiful park called hidden natures trail. A nice grove if tall oaks with natural fallen trees align this beautiful trail but do not go all the way to bottom of the trail because roots of old trees along the bank are being restored. Enjoy the nice hidden oaks indoor adventures for children of all ages. Makes for a nice family outing. You go down some of the hidden oak nature center trail. Enjoy the trail!

Good well maintained part of cross country trail that connects to Laurel Hill mountain bike trails

Good place for neighborhood activeties. Its a nice and clean park that many neighborhoods in Fairfax county have one. Though its nice to have a stream that is a part of Potomac River tributaries stream. Its hard to imagine that a small stream such as Holmes run can form two small reservoir lakes, one at the Fairview Park, and another at Lake Barcroft, before Holmes run merges with Four miles run at Fairfax and Arlington counties boarder. This part of Holmes run is mostly wet land area, a good place for bird watchers.

Very pretty walk; can go flat or hilly. Trailhead where I parked was overgrown and/or washed away. Could use trail markers and signs.

Refreshing break to nature without going far. One downside, the park is only open during daytime, no night walks.

A great park for a walk, run, or bike ride along well maintained trails. Lots of green space and trees. If you go at the right time of day you might see deer, owls, foxes or other wildlife.

It is a typical stream bed park, deeded to the county to preserve separation green spaces between development. A natural refuge for urban wildlife, naturalists can spot owls, foxes, deer, occasional skunks and opossums. Raccoons thrive, but are cleverly invisible.This stream bed park provides trails that connect communities through Mason district and annandale affording bike riders, walkers and joggers a straight and short passage bypassing the meandering developments and vehicle traffic patterns. Sometimes, faster than drivers in cars.Be prepared in wet weather as the streambed fills and flows, and the stepping stones you used last week might be beneath the waterline.Fairfax county parks are closed dusk to dawn unless otherwise posted, so, nighttime and twilight hikers can become trespassers as the civil sunset passes.

Beautiful park

Always beautiful year round. And surprised at all the wildlife: deer, fox, snakes and egrets

It is a park. If you are looking for some greenspace amongst the urban sprawl, this is one of the many Fairfax County Public Parks. So, as parks go, this one is good. Along the stream, the trails open upon recreation areas and features. Most trails have been improved with pavers, concrete and mcadam surfaces. There are splinter trails that are unpaved. Hikers beware, because the Unofficial green leaf plants of Virginia (Poison Ivy, Oak, and Sumac) thrive in this stream-bed park.

Mad chill

This is a really nice park, providing a pleasant woodsy, streamside walking, running, or biking experience. The path is well-paved and easy to traverse, with a nice variety of landscapes and flora. The one drawback is the smell of the water, which can at times have a very strong sewer-like odor. Also a disappointment is the lack of wildlife. Aside from the sparrows and other small birds, I have seen only a few ducks. The fish in the stream are usually very small. This is a natural area that – although picturesque – has been badly affected by the urbanization all around it. But still, I am glad it is there and I look forward to my next visit.
