Great, long, hard hike to the top. Took about 12 hours from trailhead to trailhead. We started at the eklutna park and biked 11 miles to the base of the mountain. From there it was basically a long boulder and skree clime. This is best done August or September because of snow. Read trip reports and know what you are getting into. The views from the top are absolutely amazing and this is a relatively easy peak to climb for its height ( over 7,500 feet!) if you get the right conditions.
Finding the trailhead to Stivers Gully was the hard part. Essentially, the route to the summit of Bold is a low-angle scree gully. Its very strenuous. Once above the initial rock wall. You will come to a point where the gully forks out. Stay to the right side and you will make your way to the fixed rope section. Above the fixed rope section is a steep pitched grass ramp. This is the only area I encountered any exposure but nothing bad. In my opinion, the views of Bold are better than Bashfuls. Hopefully, youll choose a clear day. The views were worth the pain. In my opinion, some of the best views of the Western Chugach !
Challenging but worth it :)
