There was so much to see there that I just kept going around and finding new stuff to see every time. The most animals Ive seen in one place. They also had a lot of interesting antique guns and Sporting Goods equipment. The fellow at the front door was the friendliest guy Ive ever met
What a fine exhibit to show your children and teach them so many things. You somehow get lost in a simpler time here strolling through the many isles of different wildlife as well as antique fishing poles, trapping devices. The animals are so beautiful and each have a story if you really think about it.. They lived once and now they are here, preserved eternally for us to be humbled by. There are full size brown bear, grizzlies, moose and wolves which fascinated our whole family. Also, there our countless other wildlife, birds, deer, fish and so much more. The price was reasonable for about an hour spent.. worthwhile... And last but not least, Larry the gentleman at the counter (host) is a real gem.. Will definitely go back anytime we want to feel that peace and that complete humbling amongst these beautifully restored beings ..
What a great place to visit. My wife and I took a ton of pictures. Really had a nice time. Also visited the NYS Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame room as well. Beautifully done.
First class place.
Great place to visit. Had an amazing collection of mounts. Will visit again sometime soon.
Great place! I highly recommended.
Went on a trip to Albany and stoped by. Definetly worth it. Such amazing specimens. The pictures do not do it justice. Any sportsman or taxidermy fan owes it to themselves to go.
Small, but the show had something for everyone.
I wasnt sure what to expect when pulling up to this place. My family and I were blown away at the number of amazing animals that have been collected here. The gentleman was very kind and full of stories about how these mounts came to him. It is definitely worth a stop and an hour or two of time to get face to face with such amazing creatures.....which you couldnt do without this place.
Well, if you support trophy hunting, this might be might be worth your while. My family and I passed by and stopped thinking it was a wildlife education museum...something we could enjoy and learn from, but instead discovered the heads and bodies of several hundred beautiful animals, killed in their prime. Nice. A place that celebrates recreational hunting and trapping. Ours was the only car in the parking lot and with declining hunting numbers we keep hearing about I would expect that this museum will follow suit. Its 2018. I dont think many people except trophy hunters themselves would find this to be an educational or positive experience.
Awesome! Lots of interesting animals to look some with incredible stories. Learning about how techniques have changed over the years, very fascinating. The gentlemen who work there are very nice and full of information. I will be visiting again.
Wow what an excellent museum full of exhibits! Fun for all the family. We went because my two girls (under age 10) wanted to go see the stuffed animals, and we enjoyed it more than we expected to! The man there is very nice, quick to explain anything about the animals, and lets you take all the pictures you want. There are animals everywhere, all kinds, from this continent and beyond. Some of the exhibits also show the history of hunting a fishing with old photos, articles, and tons of historical relics (guns, traps, etc). Worth the visit! Figure about a good hour to 90 minutes or more, depending on your interest.
It is absurd that this place has less than at least a 4 star rating. I mean I get the sentiment of, oh boo trophy hunting and so on. But take a second to step out of your own ego for a moment to realize that hunting was a tremendously huge part of our history in the United States, especially in the adirondacks.I’m not thrilled that trophy hunting was very prominent, but it doesn’t stop me from admiring the vast number of animals I’ve never seen before, especially up close. The gentlemen who were there when I went were older, and that just exemplifies that this is a bit of history from an older period in time. Appreciate it for what it is and you won’t be disappointed, but go in there with a political cause and smug chip on your shoulder and of course you’ll find it to be an unpleasant experience.I mean really? What would you prefer? For the animals who are now dead and taxidermied to be thrown in the trash to not even be admired after the fact, or to be put on display in a museum as a way to honor, remember, and appreciate them. For anyone who can understand and actually appreciate history, you will be very impressed with all of the old memoirabillia as well as the various taxidermied animals that you can check out.P.S. You may not want to bring very little ones before they have a full understanding of the reality of things, but teenagers interested in history should be fine.
Not much here for exhibits sadly
Not a very good place boring
Nice place to visit
Love it here!
