The space itself is great. Open, clean, and multiple theatres that are well kept. Perhaps it was because of the current (pandemic) conditions but the staff were uneven in their customer service. The ticket taking was very cold and bordering unfriendly. The concession area however was excellent and warm.
First movie in Virginia and first time at this location. Its such a nice and visually pleasing building. Many stories. A friend insisted that the Dolby cinema experience was worth the $18 or so dollar price. I watched the movie Glass, and I agree. The chairs are fully adjustable and comfortable. The surround sound can be felt under your seat. Although Glass was a rather slow paced with minimal action, I still NOTICED the difference during the action scenes. In short, the Dolby cinema experience is best suited for action packed movies. Had a great time!
Was excited to see the new film Tenet and decided to try the Dolby Cinema version. The video quality and sound system were amazing. However, the volume was so loud it ruined the experience. The background noises (trains, gunshots etc.) throughout were so loud, that important conversations were drowned out. My girlfriend and I contemplated leaving the film, but settled on plugging our ears as needed.Im not against loud music, or to feel the experience, but with the volume at that level, not only is it unpleasant, but the audio quality and clarity is horrible. I dont know if all Dolby movies are like this but, I would not recommend anyone going unless you are equipped with ear plugs. Seriously, that level of db literally could cause hearing loss. The actual theater was clean, staff friendly, and service decent. However, the movie experience was horrible.Tenet -7.7/10Video quality - 10/10Audio - ears bleeding (1/10)
Saw New Mutants a few days ago and had a really pleasant experience. COVID social distancing is in place for seating arrangements, but the viewing experience was still pleasurable. I’m a fan of the new snack prices but wish there was more help in concessions.
Its good to be back very clean very nice very friendly parking everything its a wonderful thing its just very very nice here food concession stand everything
Very disappointed with my experience on Wednesday evening. Was at theater for early access showing of Tenet at 8:45pm. Got there at approximately 8:05-8:10 theater had not been cleaned since the last showing, which was disturbing considering the pandemic issues. Had to wrangle up a kid who was cleaning the refreshment area to track down ushers/staff to clean theater. Even after they were in there for 10-15 minutes the theater was still dirty, popcorn in seats, seats were not wiped down. Ended up having to get wipes and wipe down our seats thoroughly. Hoffman is usually one of the better moviegoing experiences in the area, the management needs to make sure the employees are serious about maintaining the standard.
NOT Netflix and Slurpee . LARGE Red/Blue Icee. Pretzel and cheese wiz. POP POP Popcorn. AMC 22 Theater is the place to Be.
I went to Hoffman today after not being there for over 15 years. I was pretty excited to go back! My family and I walked into the theatre and all the kiosk ticket printers had no paper. I want to say there were at least 7 printers - maybe more... There was one employee on the opposite side of the desk and a long line of customers waiting to get tickets printed. After receiving our tickets, there was another long line at concessions. There were 2 lines (1. A-list customers, 2. regular customers) There were only 2 employees running the cash register. My movie started at 4:45 and didn’t get to my seat until 5:45. This is unacceptable and to top it off, it’s is New Year’s Day. Why was there only 1 person at the check in desk, 2 people at concessions!??! I have no interest in returning to this theatre. The only positive thing was the parking garage ticket gets validated.
I came here to watch an afternoon matinee. It was a very convenient location as I was staying at the Holiday Inn across the street. Although I didnt eat at a restaurant there, I saw that there were plenty of decent options. There movie theater itself was adequate with good picture and good sound. The only thing that I would complain about is that the seats were old and getting a bit worn out. Most theaters have switched those type of seats out for the more comfortable recliner seats, so they should really consider that upgrade as well.
Clean theaters. Comfortable seats. Reserved seats for every theatre so youre not looking for open seats for your group when you arrive. I just wish they had recliner seats in every theater. Also, the concession stand always takes forever. Im a premier member and they never have someone specifically for that line so we end up waiting as long as everyone else.
I saw Tenet in IMAX last night and the film was great, but the theater was not my favorite. Seats were cramped, popcorn was not fully popped, and the projector in theater 5 had a weird wave on the left side of the screen.
The theater is pretty much the same as it was 10 years ago. It was nice then and still nice now. Im glad they added reserved seating now. Of course, other theaters in the area offer reclining seats but over all this theater is still a good one to go to.
Do NOT go into the STUBS concessions line. It’s not worth the extra money. We finally got our popcorn 20 minutes after the movie started! They had 3 employees helping the “normal” line and only one (the slow manager) helping the “fast” STUBS premiere line. After I realized the STUBS line wasn’t moving, I counted 17 people from the “normal” line who got helped who all arrived at the theater AFTER us. My husband tried to get someone to help since the ONLY couple being helped the entire time was holding up our line, obviously none of the THREE other concession employees were capable of helping our line. I tried telling the guy who helped us only to be ignored while he spoke into his radio “don’t worry about it, I’m taking care of them now”. I tried to ask for a manager only to have the same person pointed out as the manager, so I’ll put the review here to hopefully help you have a better experience than us. I do highly recommend the AMC theaters in San Diego. They have much more intelligent employees with this special skill called “common sense”!
Every time I have gone to this theater there is an hour long wait at the concession stand. I missed the beginning of the last Star Wars movie because the line was so long. Yesterday I waited in a line that didn’t move for 15 minutes before giving up and leaving. There is a second concession stand that is on the second level that is never open. If you like to enjoy popcorn and a coke with your movie experience I do not recommend going to this theater, unless you don’t mind arriving an hour early to give yourself time to wait in line.
Have seen many movies at this Cinema. Facilities are well maintained and projection quality and sounds are consistently good, even in the smaller theaters. Note that the snack bar in the upper floors is closed so youll need to get any movie snacks before you go up to the second level. Also note that they do validate parking. The ticket scanner is to your right on the back of the large post right after they tear your ticket. They have recently instituted assigned seating which is great.
I used to work here! Very spacious with over 20 theaters. Crew always ready to clean when movie is over, but be courteous and throw away your trash. As a former employee and a movie goer, honestly never had a bad experience with them.
This is my go to theater because its close and has reserved recliner chair seating. However, it gets three stars because Ive experienced a bug or two crawling around and outrageous prices for simple concessions. Higher than your average theater. I was charged $8 for an icey.. unacceptable
Love this theatre. Complimentary 4 hour reimbursement for parking is the perfect pairing for an enjoyable experience in this state of the art theatre with awesome selection due to the sheer number of screens. Disappointed that there is no EV charging available in the garage while you enjoy your movie.
Fine theater. Generally very clean. Occasionally a bit crowded (those concessions lines can get real long), but otherwise a nice place to watch a movie. The crowds are also generally quiet, which I like.
I loved this theater, very clean. Parking lot was easy to get in and out. Theres some construction going on right now, so stay focus while driving in the area. Went to see Bad Boys For Life simply the best movie to see right now, plenty action and definately funny. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has great chemistry!!!!!
We had fun coming here and enjoying a late night movie however please fix your parking validation machine. I should not have to go all the way upstairs to have my parking validated as the one down stairs is either always offline or not working.
My first time visiting this cinema. The entrance is grand with super high ceilings & an escalator to match, which gives a good first impression. However... the theater, seats, & sounds quality is sub-par. Old, dirty, small seats with zero comfort or leg room. No Dolby surround sound. Everything is in dire need of an upgrade and a deep clean.Only 2 girls at concessions who were hustling politely... doing the best of their resources-- but the food was not so good, burnt pizza, old popcorn crumbs, & cold chicken. We wont be returning & think Regal Springfield is going to remain our theater of choice.
Clean, Bright and comfortable theater lobby. Friendly staff and nice theaters with good selection of films. NOTE: Bring parking stub to theater to validate for 2 hr. free. Some parking is not immediately adjacent to theater (open air commercial lot nearby) which is tough on busy winter days or nights.
Awesome theater! 22 screens with a bar. Reserve seating but they are just regular seats not the high speed ones that recline. Pretty good experience.
Seems like this location not as good as it once was, overall still a nice venue. the theater seemed to be under staffed, and not as clean as previous experiences. the concession area smelled of delicious popcorn as usual, with a hint of old used oil from the fryer. the condiment station was a complete disaster, with overflowing trash receptacles which attributed to trash all over the counter tops. i still look forward to going to this location. however for spending over $100 at the location, i expected a better overall experience. the plus as usual is that the garage parking is still free validation.
I thought all AMC theaters had reclining seats. Guess not. The upstairs concession stand was not open so downstairs was very packed. I got in line a total of three times and still never got food because it was moving entirely too slow.
Hoffman is a great place to take the family for movies. Clean and family friendly, couldnt ask for any better. 4 stars because of the separate concession line for members & non-members (me). Members get priority which causes a backup in the non-members line. Last I checked my money was as green as any member but I digress.
Pros:1. Theaters have stadium style seating.2. One (maybe two) of their biggest theaters has the AMC signature recliners (they rumble!)3. AMC A List program offers many perks at this theater.4. All theaters are Dolby digital and have excellent sound quality.5. Largest lobby Ive seen at a modern movie theater. It adds to the movie going experience.6. Parking in neighboring parking deck is reimbursed by the theater.7. Theater is within easy walking distance of the Eisenhower (Yellow line) metro station as well as retail amenities.8. Seats are reserved.9. Theater is generally well maintained and clean.Cons:1. Not a true IMAX screen, however it may be an enhanced IMAX experience.2. Only one (two?) of the theaters has the AMC signature recliners. Please add more!3. No in theater delivery of concessions.4. Parking ticket reimbursement scanners (there are two: one upstairs and one on the main lobby floor) sometimes malfunction and long lines form. To avoid this, I usually scan my parking ticket as Im going into the theater so I do not have to deal with everyone after the show. The reimbursement is good for 4 hours after being scanned.5. Seats are reserved.6. There is no dedicated alcohol bar area. Alcohol is sold at concessions.
Nice big busy lobby! Toilets look well maintained but no recliner seats. No indoor connection to the big parking building. Parking authentication for 4 hours!
The theater is absolutely enormous and I almost get the feel it was a convention center or hotel sometime in the past. That said it also has a very rustic feel to the heavy concrete architecture but at least with a warm colors feel. The inside of the theater is a bit confusing with the upper theaters require you to loop around to an escalator that feels a bit haphazardly cordoned off. The upper level concessions stand wasnt open which made it feel like a waste and impossible to get concessions besides at the start or heading down multiple floors through the mega-escalator.The theater rooms also felt a bit small and the screens in fact seemed to have a little bit cut off. They have a huge parking garage on the side with free parking validation which is a big positive in super dense Alexandria. Overall its ok - its a theater in a high density area but has some negative points in organization and screen technology.
I enjoyed the IMAX theater. Theater needs to be renovated. They need new seats. The process to validate your parking ticket needs to be updated. I stood in a long line for 20 min to then be told the system crashed. Its only 1 scanner taped to a pole to validate the ticket.
Im a bit spoiled. I am from an area where we have the red leather chairs, alcohol, great food and relaxing environment. This AMC wasnt bad but it needs to be updated. I felt that we were too close. I also think that they should upgrade their surround sound.
This was a pretty decent theatre. A little smaller than I’m used to, but still cozy and clean. Cleanliness is an important part for me, anywhere I go, so I give them that.
BEWARE OF PARKING!!! DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET! Dominion will tow your car if you park there EVEN AFTER 10 MINUTES! Also will tow you if you eat at any establishment surrounding the area and step foot in the theater. They need a HUGE red sign, AMC Customers WILLL be towed. I will not be returning. $160 later... Merry Xmas to you all too.
Great place to see a movie because it is scenic and has high elevators for a nice ride. Very nice lighting in lobby
Great looking AMC, but concession stand customers beware! We stood in line for a half hour! There was such a long line and only one person working the concession stand! If you’re looking to buy the popcorn bucket for free future refills they don’t sell it either. Overly crowded. Minimal staff.
Came and saw the Joker movie last night and sure did enjoy watching it. Happy that is wasnt that packed, but there were a good number of folks. The seat were comfortable and the popcorn tasted fresh.
This AMC spot never disappoint...dude working the register was polite and helpful..the theater was clean and safe. Guardian Angel has fallen was a nice shoot em up action thriller on a Friday night. The restaurants and stores outside the theater are nice add-on.
Usually nice but not Monday January 20th! The theater was not cleaned in between shows. The manager would not compensate my complaint in any way! Popcorn and other trash in my paid for seat as well as the floor. Dissatisfied and I plan to find a different theater.
Im here right now, it is Friday, July 12th, 2019 the time is 1904. Spiderman was supposed to begin at 1900 and the screen is dark. The red velvet seats are dirty and Im debating whether or not to ask for a refund. The seats are old auditorium style and Do NOT Recline. It is now 1908 and the screen is still dark.
I love this theater havent been any place else since i was introduced in 2012. the staff is always pleasant. The people who attend the theater are polite an pleasant to be around. Theres never any drama inside the movie while your watching it. Its always clean an smells nice. They are worth EVERY PENNY!!!
My husband and I went to a show here at this establishment at 1:50pm, paid $21.98 for the two of us but in order to get popcorn or any snack we should’ve been there at 12:20 instead of 1:20 because we didn’t have enough time. Our theater was upstairs where there is a closed concession stand and parking validation machine, neither of these were in operation which made for long lines and disgruntled movie goers! This was a crowded Saturday afternoon and there should’ve been ample ppl at Snack stand (2 for Premium Stub holders) and (4-5 for the rest). We didn’t enjoy our experience and there are a lot of movie theaters around so to keep your customers, these things should be kept in mind, thank you
Good theater. Best in the immediate area. Lines can be long. Parking is ok. Several nearby places to eat.
Always a great experience at the AMC Hoffman. The facility and the staff are excellent. They also have FREE parking.
Omg. Hit this place today and what a mess. They had one person selling tickets. Then there was a long line to take your ticket and an EVEN LONGER line to get concessions. Seriously - the wait was 45 minutes. I had not been here in ages and will not return. Horrible service. It’s sad because this place used to be pretty decent.
Great customer service until today. I decided to spend the day at the movies I watched 21 bridges and a boxing match Wilder vs Ortiz. I normally get good customer service here but they young lady at the concession stand gave me a hard time when I wanted to refill my popcorn she told me I had to wait in line the line was extremely long and I went right after I watched 21 bridges ( my first movie ended at 8:50 and the boxing match was at 9:00) I did not want to miss the fight and I never had to wait in line over a popcorn refill before and even if I was supposed to wait in line it’s away you say things and the way she told me was unprofessional she needs to be trained on customer service. I literally come to every pay per view fight and I never had to wait in line over a popcorn refill.
Decent, but very old. Could use some IMAX more screens, recliner chairs, and a MacGuffins. I do come here a lot for the proximity to where I work and live and for the wide range of movies.
Even though this is a big place with many screens it is ran very well. Usually lots of people at the refreshments stand to take care of lines and usually clean theaters. I really like making it at least a 2 movie sometimes 3 movie expedition when I go there.
This was one of my favorite locations at one point for movie viewings, but it has really went down. Very dirty in the theater and the gaming area is a complete rip off with no signs displaying games arent working!! They really need to do an overhaul far as staff and possibly managment!!
Very comfortable and the option to chose your own seats. The snack and food options were plentiful.
This is a really horrible place. Poorly taken care of. Sticky floors, broken recliners, constant renovation. Not sure what’s up here. Popcorn is always littered everywhere, even in the bathrooms. Staff look depressed and miserable. Lighting is awful. Cinema quality is decent. But I have smelled urine in the theatre several times, complained, been laughed at. Eh
Great place to see a movie (as long as the AC is working), BUT theres usually only 1 person working the ticket counter and Premier Members get to jump ticket and concessions lines.
Very nice and well kept... I love that they play movies late into the night with plenty of options to choose from!
Im an A-list member. Tried to purchase additional tickets for my family and the balance, including my free movie, was automatically deducted from my accrued credits. Wasnt worth the back and forth, with the movie starting soon and still having to wait in the long concession line. (Only the first floor concession was open at 1:00 on a Sunday.
The AMC Hoffman Center is centrally located its clean they have lots of theaters and the sound system is awesome! And they always have great movie deals. Check them out i think youll enjoy the experience!
Loved the Dolby experience. I normally go to Regal Springfield. Parking is validated which is a plus.
Great Theater..went to see Gemini, excellent movie. Will Smith was great. Move to the top of the list as one of my favorite Will Smiths movies
Just saw the movie Harriet and it was excellent. The theater experience was very good which was not the case a few weeks ago when I went to see Downton Abbey. At that time the theater lights were left on which greatly detracted from the enjoyment of the film.
Dolby digital is amazing here. Food is good and great place to enjoy with the family.
Nice and clean i mean from the front door to the bathroom then the concession stan even in the seats no sticky feet when you leave either!!
This movie theater has really fell on hard times... It is Saturday and there is one cashier with 20 people waiting. The manager and assistant manager walk right by and give NO assistance. If you HAVE to go to this outdated theater, go on Tuesdays when it is worth the money and buy your tickets online or on the app. Then hope there isnt an issue at check-in
Ive seen 2 movies from here now, and the atmosphere and overall space in the place is nice. Getting tickets and consumptions is easy. It doesnt have recliner seats, but theyre still comfortable enough. There also isnt anywhere to really sit down when you immediately walk in, but otherwise its great!
Always love coming here! Very helpful staff. Finally had someone explain to me the AMC Stubs program to me. Took my mom here for the first time and she loved it!
Good theater, but SLOWEST concessions lines ever! They always seem shocked that people want popcorn BEFORE the movie starts! Stood in line so long, got to know a woman and her family and how she wished she never let them believe in Santa Claus...yadda, yadda!
Clean, limited services, staffed well for the current client base.
Large clean theater. Order tickets on line, at the door or pickup at a kiosk inside or wait in line, you choose. Large concessions area. Large screens and great sound. Large parking lots or garage parking available.
Lots of screens at this theater. Some of them are smaller/older but its great to have the option to see movies that have been out a bit longer.
The concession line was too long. It felt like I was at a airport security gate. They also have a faster line for AMC stubs members...once again reminding me of the airport with its different classes of tickets.
Best AMC Ive been at so far. The place looks great once you go inside. The best part is that if you validate your ticket inside you wont pay for parking.
Standard AMC, concessions are always good and the theaters are all in great condition and clean. Comfy chairs even though they arent the recliners. Just wish they served alcohol.
This place is quite large. There are kiosks as well as a service desk for purchasing tickets and you pre-select your seats. Seats are comfortable and the popcorn was pretty good. If youre looking for a nice theater to catch a movie this is definitely one of the better ones
The seats are too small and they dont recline. Im by no means fat or obese and it was a tight fit for me.
One of my favorite theatres for the movie selection but small popcorn ($8.29) just too expensive
My local entertainment for movies, if you love Mexican food you will find the best spot right beside here and for coffee addicts like me there is Starbucks with in this plaza.
Great theater! Big screens, clean, only thing was that the person at the confession stand seemed a little annoyed that we wanted snacks. No one else was in line.
Parking is easy and self validated in the lobby (but remember to bring your ticket)
Very nice and quiet place to have an relax time.
Remember when this place opened. Great experience as always. The Dolby Cinema really makes a difference if youre looking for an immersive experience. Validated parking and generally good customer service.
Waited literally over an hour to get to the concessions stand where two people were working. On a Saturday night. Absolute trash. Im not kidding. Me and 60 other people had fun in line together. Dont come here
Great theater. Park in the garage!! There really isnt anywhere else to park with the construction going on!
Great theater. Wished they had more reclining seats though
The overall feel of the theater is positive. (For a time, in the past, it felt like no one was actually responsible for running the place. The staff, though, are almost always friendly and helpful.)The current management has cleaned up the entire theater (lobby, restrooms, and the concession stand) and it makes the whole movie-going experience so much better! Thank you!!
It was a great theater when it opened. Full of innovation and the presentation of being such a unique and great place to watch a movie. But over the years the management has done a relatively poor job of maintaining it. The only innovation thing about this place now is that it finally got the Dolby Digital theater. I really do hope AMC put some money back into this place and makes it the pristine and procedures place it was to enjoy a good film.
Love the parking garage safe place to leave the car the theater is really big Foods great
This was my first time coming to this theater since I moved from FL. The theater was clean however the concession area was a mess. There were no napkins and my food was cold.I thought all of the seats were reclining, FL AMCs are very boujee on that way. I was okay with the seating not being able to recline but being super close to someones foot I cannot deal with.I had scheduled two movies to watch back to back however when you park in the garage the limit is 4 hrs in order to get validated. The staff was not helpful, I kept asking the same question and I was sent to 3 different people. There was one person working the ticket counter on a Saturday afternoon going into evening and no one at Guest Services. I have no idea where everyone was but they need to do better.Since I am a AMC Stubs A-List member, 3 free movies a week, I will be back but take the train to watch a movie verses driving there.
Go somewhere else. The service is despicable. They had burnt popcorn, no butter, no soda, and the food was cold. We have come here a lot over the past year and it has gone drastically down hill. This was the final straw, we will not be back again.
Theater is nice.!The seats are nice, spacious, and comfy. They are all in good shape too.The theater rooms are quite big as well.I love how they serve everything too.Not just your usual popcorn and nachos. And the chairs are even designed with this in mind, with plenty of space around the armrest to place a food item, or even trays that connect to your cup holder that will hold all your food.Sound quality is good.I will watch my next movie here for sure.
This movie theatre, like many, is absurdly expensive. A regular sized bag of popcorn was 8 dollars!!! A drink is 6 dollars ! The service was good and there was a large selection, but honestly not one that I was particularly pleased with. I arrived on time for my 11am movie and subjected myself to an entire 45 minutes of ads. The chairs were comfortable and the theatres were a good size and were clean.
One of my favorite theaters to go to...plus FREE garage parking!
Great theater complex. I had the best movie popcorn I had in ages !
Filthy conditions, uncomfortable seating in hot theaters, extremely long concession lines, too long to even consider getting treats. Movie going should be an enjoyable and comfortable experience. This place is not, they should be ashamed of themselves. Should be a negative star to select.Having worked in a movie theater years ago, I know that the house makes money on the concessions, you are actually only paying for the containers. The house gets no part of the ticket sales.
Can validate parking at nearby garage and it is metro accessible. The popcorn is always fresh. You can buy and select your seat in advance. It is my husband and my favorite movie theater.
