This is a fantastic place to learn the eclectic history of Aiken County. Great volunteers and employees, knowledgeable about various parts of our history. Theres a lovely little gift shop with a variety of interesting items from shirts and scarves to toys to books and postcards. We have a great time every visit! The museum runs on donations only, so please be as generous as possible. Weve gone many times! Easy to tie in to our homeschool lessons!

Spent the weekend wandering around Aiken, SC looking at history. The Historical Museum was closed, but I did take some pics for my memoires. Hopefully I will go back for the Banksia tour soon. The mansion grounds are well maintained from the outside. Free parking is available. Will update once I actually do the tour.

Beautiful building, informative exhibits. Unfortunately, hey have the second floor closed off, citing COVID-19 as the excuse. David was very kind and showed us the cabin and schoolhouse that have been moved onto the property.

Excellent. Museum wasnt open when I first got there and I had errands to run. The staff offered me to leave my phone number and they would call me when the museum store opened. Went back and found just the book I was looking for that was written by a local author.

Beautiful piece of history to visit and learn a lot about Aiken. I drove past here on my lunch break and decided to check it out, the shrubbery is well maintained as was the rest of the exhibit. They make you feel right at home and were excited to teach me about Aiken’s history. Wonderful place.

Wonderful staff, they are absolutely delighted to tell you everything about Aiken. Great place to really get a good reading on the city in an effort to ascertain the present disposition of the general population. Its sort of this overlooked gem that contains some great information, ranging from the Antebellum period all the way to the current day. You may be surprised to learn that some of the people mentioned in those walls have family members that are now in the same positions of authority and high standing. I find the transfer of power along blood lines to be quite intriguing to say the least
