Terrific golf course but for the $70 plus fall fee, not worth it due to course management. Two Thursday / Friday experiences. Pack em in and dont require ranger staff to keep the golfers moving. Both nice days late in season, so scheduling somewhat understandable but one passive ranger for the whole course is absurd.
Great course and fun layout. Driver is taken out of your hand a little bit, but the course is challenging yet scorable for the better than average weekend golfer. Practice area is just right, close to 1st tee. Bunker and chipping green. Overall one of my more favorite Chicago tracks. Beginners may lose some balls here though, beware.
Played midday during the middle of the week, pace was fine as you would expect. We played in 4 hours. The course itself was a lot left to be desired. If you missed the green or fairway your ball would be like hitting concrete (exception being the bunkers). They could just grow the rough out and it would make it much better. There isn’t much rough to look through either your ball is in or out of play. For $70 at a low demand time I would not recommend at all. Haven’t felt like I’ve paid too much in years but this is one of them. Spend some of that money on watering the course.
This course was beautiful. It was very challenging. Most of the course is hazard mainly because it is a forest preserve. It will consume a lot of golf balls if your a beginner. The course is very well kept and I will be back next season.
Would rate 4.5 stars. Very nice course and great layout. Greens were pretty good and tricky (also recently aerated, but still roll well). Despite the length from Black / Blue tees, driver not always best off the tee. New clubhouse being built, so prepare for construction. Only knock is maintenance crew not always considerate of players.
Recently, I played The Preserves and what a pleasure. Jamie and his staff in the pro shop were helpful and accommodating. Range is awesome. Course is tough, but fair. Condition was great....bunkers and greens the real deal. Cant wait to get back for another round.
Nice course a lot of leaves this time of year: The Bunkers are still full of nice white sand though.
This is a very good golf course. Bring a lot of golf balls! Water and trouble abound. The layout has a nice mix of long and short holes. Each hole is unique but still fits into the whole design scheme.
Excellent layout, with nice greens. This course is tough but fair. It is a beautiful walk too. Play and enjoy.
Great course in great condition. Challenging, but fair. Jamie and his staff do a great job making sure your round is pleasurable and your needs are taken care of. A must play.
I really like the layout of the redesign. The greens are true. Its a fun course.
Unbelievable restoration of a previously unplayable track. Still got some kinks to work out but a beautiful challenge. Front 9 has some quarky hole characteristics and 2nd 9 is a links layout.
After going through a major renovation only 2 years ago, the course has become one of the best courses in the Chicago suburbs. Great practice setup with the driving range, putting and chipping areas. Staff was helpful and took the time while on the course to check-in (I swear one of the course marshalls looks like Ditka). Course is in great condition and gives the right amount of challenge for your game. I would come back to this course anytime!
Fantastic golf course embracing width and angles. A must play for all Chicagoland golfers. What used to be an always wet, treelined, country club has been turned upside down. The now defunct Elmhurst CC was gutted, relaid and created. They expanded the marshland and creek which the GC winds around for better drainage. While some holes still embody the past course, everything has been expanded. Great runoff and chipping areas, interesting shot and lay up angles. Just a really fun track. Great grass range and short game area too!
Incredible course. Great staff and team! Played it a few times this summer. Love it!
Such a beautiful course! Definitely coming back.
Beautiful course and fantastic staff! The clubhouse looks like it will be spectacular when it is finished!
I have played the preserve 3-4 times a year since it re-opened and was always impressed with conditions and the redesignThat was until today.Tee boxes were in awful conditionThey moved most of the tee boxes all the way forward as a result of the condition of the tee boxesThey Saturated the course with water, tee boxes and fairways ( 8:10 tee time)Greens rolled true but were slowIf you are going to charge $70 for a round of golf the course has to be in much better shapeYou are charging more than the following courses and your course is in no where near the condition of the following coursesSchaumburgMakrayHighlands of ElginBlackstoneStonewall OrchardSheppard’s CrookBowes CreekAll of these courses charge less and are in far better conditionThe other issue is moving the tee boxes all the way upReally! The black tees(6700yds) were mostly in their correct spotThe blue and white tees where my friends played -supposed to be 6430yds- were so far up the course played in under 6000 yardsThe Preserve was the 34th different course I played this year and your course conditions were the worstTee BoxesSaturated fairways - over wateringCourse set upYou charge premium prices and don’t come close to delivering and competing with other courses in the areaLet’s hope that your course returns to the previous year, as one of the best courses in the areaVery disappointing.
Not impressed with this golf course at all. Not sure who the greens keeper is but they need to find somebody new. The rough at this golf course is nothing but dirt hard pan and weeds with occasional patches of grass here and there. For all the talk about this place they need to really up their game if theyre going to continue charging the fees they do.
Real nice course. Challenging!
Absolutely loved this place. The practice area is great and gives you a real feel. I think the range is grass only on weekends. I played on a Monday and hit from mats but could see the divots in the grass in front of me. The course is a gorgeous design that challenges not only your strategy but also your ability to shape the ball for the more aggressive player. Not sure who the designer is but reminds me a lot of Pete Dye courses, lots of visuals, some holes seem longer than they are others much shorter, greens are undulated with shelves and ridges running through them. They roll fast, not crazy like above 12 but country club quality. Fairways and bunkers were also in great shape. The staff was great they were friendly and knowledgeable theyll also advise where to tee off per your HC. Pace of play seemed pretty good. I passed 2 3-somes but I was playing by myself and finished in 2.5 hours. Beware of Par 3s, theres danger all around them, also Par 5s are very deceiving. Will definitely go back here when Im back in town.
Great course at Fall rates...
You have to have yardage. They should comp the book of yardages. Its a great track but maddening when you dont know the distances to the trouble.
Still a work in progress but like how its coming along
If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Never-mind the fact that the clubhouse & Bar were in a trailer, never-mind that that the carts are so terribly calibrated that you can not drive outside of the cart path without breaking down! What really bothers me about this track is the STAFF! From start to finish, I am for lack of a better word DISTURBED! I was willing to let go of the clubhouse cashier that completed their personal conversation before taking my payment for 18, or the starter that verbally pulled me off the tee box during my swing to check my receipt after he got back from what I can assume was a bathroom break. What’s really irritating me is the complete lack of humanity & severe disrespect that the rangers display. These men chased us down in the parking lot and started screaming for not leaving the cart by the trailer/clubhouse first! Keep in mind that there were no signs prohibiting this and furthermore as we pulled up there were at least 6 carts unloading their clubs so we thought this was acceptable. Does this give the rangers a license to use profanity and threats of banning the players for life? I’m a frequent local player and I would highly suggest avoiding this track! White pines which is not far is basically the same links course with better and more professional service. ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT.
Too bad after spending millions on the renovation, not enough money was spent on the drainage for the driving range. Closed today because it is too wet. Cart Path only today??? Overpriced maybe?
Amazing course will definitely play here again
Oak Meadows is amazing !!The course is spectacular! The layout is challenging, course condition is excellent, and the greens are fast and true. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. And the practice facility is amazing!Plus it’s a great value! When in Chicago near O’Hare give yourself a treat and check it out!
Great course, fun layout, will definitely be coming back next season for more rounds. Range is also very well kept and close to the course for use.
Really nice course and in excellent condition. Pretty difficult. One of the best public courses in Illinois.
Staff is friendly. Course layout is not great. Course conditions are not worth the 89 bucks. Hitting irons off the tee all day isnt golf. They need to cut down the long grass around the fairways so you can actually see your landing spot. All the length is in the par 3s. Greens were slow and not smooth, would probably be better wet. I just cant see the 90 dollar price tag they put on the course for something so average at best.
Great course.
Great layout and very well maintained..!!!
Beautiful course. Scenic 18 holes. A few holes give you options and make it a fun challenge. Cant wait to play it again.
Have played there several times. It is very fair for women
Course is in fantastic shape this year
Love this course...not easy and greens were in great shape
The layout was good but this course is beat. Its in terrible shape. Fairways are like runways, massive amounts of ground under repair. The greens are incredibly fast which isnt bad but I havent seen greens with spike marks in over 20 years. This course has them. Its definitely not worth the money. If you want a course thats challenging, beautiful and well maintained try Heritage Bluffs. Its a drive but worth the trip.
Half of it was closed of. Couldnt find any shade. People were so crowded. I left
They a good golf course great and tougher.new club house next year
Full disclosure, I didnt play nearly as well today as I did my first attempt at The Preserve. That said, its a real challenge, even for an accomplished golfer. The course is poorly marked. With cart path only in effect on several holes, good luck guessing your distance from middle of fairway. If you find a marked sprinkler head, youre still blind unless you checked the approach view before you left your buggy... which takes time. Two of three three-pars where wind was a factor were set up short side to the wind, so unless you can work the ball, you aint getting it close. I could go on...
Interesting layout. The course itself was in pretty good shape considering the rain we had. Some of the holes and pin placements were a bit strange. Not sure how else to describe it. We enjoyed our round and I would go back. I do wish there were more food options and that the beverage cart was a bit more frequent
Starts off with a great practice facility....a little pricey but look for deals...great layout with challenging greens...a few tree lined holes but mostly open...some forced caaries over wetlands but nothing super intimidating...they are building a new clubhouse which is def needed as immenities are lacking....
I finally had a chance to play it last Saturday and can I say what a phenomenal change. Greens are fast but receptive. Fairways are in good shape. The course is still very young and parts need to grow in but what a great layout. Tough and Fair. Let me tell you about the price $75 is perfect because it keeps the once in a while player out and hopefully that keeps that pace of play quicker and the course in better shape.
Really good track at a reasonable price. Greens were in good shape, course was tough but fair
This was my first time playing The Preserve so I never had the experience of playing before the renovation. The staff were friendly and the practice facility was very nice. The course was in good condition and certainly a challenge from the black tees. The fees were a bit expensive but for a course of this caliber I feel that they are justified. I will be back to play again soon.
Great course but it is not for a novice. It is a Very challenging course. It is manageable but be prepared to lose a lot of balls if you are wild. Unique layout. Need to think your shots out from the teebox on. Very fun and very beautiful.
I live 3 minutes from the course and I passed by it every day for two years. I got the chance to play it yesterday and I was very impressed with the layout and condition. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The greens were fast and true. I would suggest putting some grass seed on the cart because there were a lot of divots in the fairways. The GPS graphics were great and very accurate.it is money well spent to play a golf course with scenic views and good conditions for a new track. One more year of growth and this will be a premier golf course in the near western burbs
As someone who holds the game of golf and its integrity in high regard this is an absolute and utter overpay. North of $80-90 for a round. Greens are beat, play is slow, value is outrageously low. For a more aesthetically pleasuring course I would recommend Western Acres of Glen Ellyn or even holes and knolls mini golf off of Roosevelt road. But wait, there’s more. If you plan on riding I would bring your own cart as fees are $20 to ride.
Golfed there May 38th, it was ain Cart path only that wasnt too bad.Course overall is questionable to me, drainage sucks. If you put $8-10million into a course and you know about Salt Creek, why does it get so wet.Me not a fanHank
Lots of trouble if you spray the ball.
Beautiful layout and well conditioned. Friendly staff and good merchandise selection & prices. Definitely worth a return trip.
Great condition but not worth 75 bucks. And the carts programmed to keep you 150 yards off the green are ridiculous.
Decent track. Early in the year so can’t tell how course conditions are but has potential.
Great course and layout. Cant wait to play it again!!! The course is in excellent condition, staff is awesome, especially Jamie the pro. He could not have been more helpful with our group! Playing there again next week and new clubhouse to be finished in 2021!
Played here Sunday 7/7/18. Paid full greens fee of 85.00 (plus 4.00 for range balls which is insulting). I have played this golf course 5 times since last year including twice earlier this year. Course was always in great shape and playable. This last time I played the golf course was in HORRIBLE condition. There was ground under repair on almost every hole. The front run up to the 18th green was completely baked. Hard pan dirt and no grass at all. I do not know whats going on here but something is very wrong with this golf course right now. I wont be back unless conditions improve drastically.
Amazing, now that they have redesigned the course and included the old Maple Meadows 9-hole course (originally the Brookwood Golf Club front 9).
Could enjoy a stroll around the place. Policy
I never played the old version, but I was very impressed with the course, especially since its still an immature renovation. I enjoyed the course layout, where it wasnt just grab your driver and rip it for every 4+ par hole.. youre rewarded for playing the hole smart off the tee, especially on holes like 4 and 16. Lots of fun! The greens were tricky but fair, the rough around the bunkers was nasty, the sand (yup, sadly found it a few times) was nice and light white sand.Honest constructive criticism: a few rough grass spots that hopefully will grow in and still some marshy areas.. I hear the old course was always wet and think they could control that with a little better drainage infrastructure. For asking $90 a round next year, theyll want to address that.I wish I could give 4.5 stars but I beat my buddy by 4 strokes so Im in a good mood. 5 it is!
Dont tell anyone.
Nice
I like the new layout. It has a few of the old holes from the original oak meadows but a completely new feel. It is more wide open and plenty of challenging holes. You will not be disappointed
The new course is tough but amazing!
Great track and great value. You will not find a better course in the area. Still maturing the greens and fairways but I would not let that discourage anyone from playing here.
Could be a great course but they still have work to do on it, too much ground under repair and the greens could use some work as well but beautiful views and nice scenery with rolling sloping hills.
Awesome new layout! Everyone was really welcoming, and we even got a discount at the course. I will definitely play again.
I was so exicted to play this course. Then the other day I finally got that opportunity to play this course. First off course is not mature for the price they charge is ridiculous, there was a huge hype for this course and I felt disappointed when I arrive only to see greens are not yet mature. At that price I could have played somewhere else that was worth my time and money. As for rangers they are very disrespectful playing music on carts and talking while you are playing. You would have taught they would have trained their staff properly, for all the time they were closed for renovation. Huge disappointment dont waste your money nothing to be excited about.
I will re-rate this a 5 star once the course fully matures. The layout is great. It is called challenging and pretty.
16.8 million dollar renovation a pathetic lie. They changed a few hole layouts but failed to till or soften the 100 year old trampled to concrete fairways. I highly recommend not playing here, the only decent part of any of the holes were the greens which were very fast but again hard as concrete. IRS please conduct an audit to find where the money really went it surely was not spent on the course renovation! To the posters who say the course needs to mature you are wrong. The course will not soften over time since they failed to till the fairways, concrete doesnt soften the grass will grow but what is underneath will continue to be hard as stone!
Awesome course! Awesome staff!! Sooooo much fun when you play from the appropriate tee box!!!! And, can be an enormous challenge the further back you play!! I loved it!!!!
I played the course in early September, 2018. As background, I had played the original Oak Meadows, pre-renovation, many times. The new course, except for a few holes, is unrecognizable when compared to old Oak. This is a good thing. Flooding has clearly been addressed. The course is more picturesque with a variety of trees, tall grass, water hazards, etc.The course is also more difficult. We played from the blue tees, and there are definitely more hazards to contend with such as forced carries, trees, sand and water. However, the layout is fair. Fairways are fairly generous, and if you do hit it in a bunker, the bunkers were some of the best Ive played in the area.My only issue with the course is price. I play courses all over Chicago land. With a weekday price of $59, it is overpriced when compared with such courses as Heritage Bluffs, Settlers Hill, Tanna Farms, Schaumburg, Broken Arrow, George Dunne etc. All are top flight courses with deals around $30 on weekdays. DuPage Golf needs to reconsider pricing relative to these other excellent courses.
I spent the day there with Anthony and our friend Dave. We played cards all day and had a good time enjoying the weather and the people around us. Very nice relaxing day.
Good for teach my son to drive
Great layout, large old trees, great tour quality sand in the bunkers. Practice facility is way above average for a public facility.
Well maintained golf course. Not bad, not the best.
Love the new course layout, still growing in but one of the top courses in Chicagoland.
True roll on the greens
Meh, its still Oak Meadows and STILL has flooding issues
Course design was great and the greens are quick and true. Once the fairways mature, it will be a true gem. I think that the fees that will be $75 is pricey and at that price, those who I spoke with probably wont return.
Course is in good shape. Everything ells needs time
Nice Renovation. Wadsworth Golf Construction is definitely a premier Golfcourse Builder.
Beautiful course. A bit more expensive than neighboring courses, but really liked the course.
Wow these greens are tough to read
Dont know of the services. Golf course I just happened to be in the area.
!!!!!!! JUST GO AND PLAY... great place.. great people... I hate the amazing greens
I think it will be great when all the Grass Grows in
A solid test of golf. Lots of doglegs to test your shaping abilities. Only beef is the at with the amount of play, the greens can get beat up late in the day. Classic midwestern layout
Great place
Rude and un respectful
Very nice couse!!!
Quiet, serene, natures playground.
Its beautiful but green is terrible
Great course!!!
Great course, challenging
Peace and abundant tranquility
Great place
